§ Remember the Slogan "The Only Way to Fly"?

I realize that a lot of people, on jobs, and in need of arriving to some destination quickly, needs to make use of the airline services.  But for me, I can't understand the TSA's position and overruling so many passengers' rights, etc.  Not to mention all the extra fees implied and hidden in your travel expenses these days.  Here's proof:

Talk about skipping out on the bill.

A passenger on Delta Airlines early Tuesday left four of his seven bags at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, apparently because he didn’t want to pay more than $1,000 in baggage fees. NBC News reported Tuesday that the passenger, who was en route to New York’s JFK Airport, abandoned four bags to avoid $1,400 in fees. Ross Feinstein, a spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, said the TSA was notified of the unattended luggage at around 1 a.m. local Seattle time near the check-in area for Delta Airlines. As a precaution, law enforcement responded to clear the bags.

The underlying comments:

deepwater posted: Delta's motto: We're not happy, unless you're not happy....

A Yahoo! User posted: The trick for avoiding luggage fees is to have your "luggage" shipped to you by UPS or Fed Ex. Hotels will certainly sign for your packages and hold them for you. Your luggage will probably beat you to your destination (if you ship overnight) AND it can be insured (if you pay a little extra).

JOHN S posted: I am pretty sure, after we die, those going to hell will have to transfer in Atlanta, on a Delta flight.

Robert posted: What would have really been icing on the cake would be filling them with cow manure.

sc posted: The airlines are putting themselves out of business. It's time to let the capitalist system that greedy corporations tout so highly finish them off so we can have regional carriers and entrepreneurs enter the market and do a better job. Live by the sword and die by the sword.

§ At long last, a new Thursday Trash Talk.....

I haven't done a Thursday Trash Talk in ages!! Actually, really haven't found time to go searching for some topic in the news that was worthy of trashy talk. After finding this one tho, I couldn't resist sharing. Hey, I could even understand having some flying insect spray on hand, in the storage area, at the Town Hall's Office, for their couriers, now, wouldn't you?
"No Butts About It!!"

Read on....

Dog parks are an oasis for millions of pet owners—pups can run around, interact with other dogs and get a taste of nature without having to head out of town on weekends. Some careless dog owners, however, don't abide by dog park rules, or simple common decency, and leave their dogs' waste behind for others to clean up. Well, a small town in Spain, reports the Telegraph, has decided to remedy the situation by mailing the discarded dog excrement back to the offending owners. The paper reports that the town council of Brunete, located about 20 miles from Madrid, has undertaken a complex effort to crack down on the disrespectful dog owners. Twenty volunteers have been enlisted to approach dog owners who leave their pet’s poop behind, and to strike up a conversation with the goal of finding out the name of the dog. "With the name of the dog and the breed it was possible to identify the owner from the registered pet database held in the town hall," a spokesman from the council told the Telegraph. Once the owner’s address was confirmed, the dog poop is scooped up, placed in a box containing the town hall’s insignia and delivered via courier to the owner’s home. And to top it all off, the box is labeled, “Lost Property.” read more of the article here, or move on to ----

§ Smack dab in the middle of Texas!!!

In case you're interested, this is Texan Talk...
Toad choker – this is also referred to as a frog strangler or a turd floater, and means a heavy torrential downpour. Since most of Texas is pretty flat, heavy rains pose a true flash flooding hazard as well as lots of issues with closed roads.

Greeze and Earl – despite what you might think, these are actually components to your car. Greeze, otherwise known as grease, and earl or oil, often cause stains on your hands or clothes. These stains are considered to be greezy, and are really problematic in hot weather. Of course you also have to constantly keep checking the pressure in your tiyures (tires) because the hot temperatures cause problems there as well.

Bowed up – when someone is really angry and is taking on an aggressive body stance, they are said to be all bowed up. Kids that are talking back to their parents will often be told not to get all bowed up or they will get a "whipping".

Jaw Jackin – just talking to hear yourself or talking smack to someone. Jaw jacking is often combined with getting bowed up.

Chunk – Ok, this one is really weird. If you are throwing something a short distance they say they are chunking it. Don't know why Texans don't say chucking it like the rest of the world but there ya go!

Tea – tea is always iced tea and is always sweet iced tea unless you specifically ask for unsweetened. If you have never had southern sweet tea you may want to try a small taste before ordering a whole glass. Let's just say it is sort of like drinking icing!

Not plum but pert near – this is a highly descriptive and phonetic way to say everything isn't exactly perfect but it is close enough to be workable. If someone asks you how you are doing you can always answer "fair to midlin", which is the equivalent of not plum but pert near!

Fix'in – this is the ultimate in Texan speak. Fix'in, which is not said fixing but is sometimes pronounced as "fiddin", is a way to indicate that at some yet to be determined time some action is going to be taken. An example of this would be "I'm fix'in to go to the store". Notice this doesn't indicate when, and can be also used to indicate you are thinking about the possibility doing something sometime.

"You can put your boots in the oven but that doesn't make them biscuits"
(You can say whatever you want about something but that doesn't change what it is)

"It's so dry the trees are bribin' the dogs"
(We could really use some rain)

"Everytime I stand up, my mind sits down."
(Unable to think clearly.)

Poor - examples:
I'm so broke, I can't pay attention.
I ate so many armadillos when I was young I still roll up into a ball when I hear a dog bark.

Immoral - example:
She's just naturally horizontal.

Happier than a two-peckered dog - meaning:
Really  Happy

Fixin to fetch a cold one -meaning:
act of grabbing a beer

Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best
patients to operate on.

The first surgeon, from New York, says:
'I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered.'

The second, from Chicago, responds:
'Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded.'

The third surgeon, from Dallas, says:
'No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order.'

The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles, chimes in:
'You know, I like construction workers...Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over.'

But the fifth surgeon, from Washington D.C., shut them all up when he observed:
'You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine...Plus, the head and the ass are interchangeable.'

This probably isn't the most appropriate time to post this when the shooting rampages continue on and on in the country, but it is supposed to be taken with a grain of salt so to speak, and show the 'lighter side' of humor. Not to be taken seriously, or to offend anyone. In fact, the 'funny' part of it all is, that, it's probably closer to the truth than we all realize:

§ Thursday....In the NEWS

I haven't done a Trash Talk for some time.

Well, it's now legal to smoke and possess [recreational] marijuana in two states...Colorado and Washington. As far as I'm concerned, I don't see anything different in this activity as is drinking alcohol or smoking 'regular' cigarettes, or those who raid the Rx cabinets -legal prescription drugs...all  are drugs/stimulants and all could possibly hurt/harm [even fatally] when participating; overdosing, and getting behind the wheel; driving...being under the influence of either, by dulled responses, distractions, impaired reactions. [by the way, if you know your history, most drugs are HERBS] Another thing while driving there is the cellphone and the distraction of a child crying in the back seat. But, that's a whole 'nother post. Anyway, I was reading an article from Colorado [my 'home state'] --
(Reuters) -"Pot smokers formally gained the right to light up in Colorado on Monday as Governor John Hickenlooper signed into effect a controversial ballot measure legalizing marijuana for adult recreational use in what proponents hailed as a "historic day.":
And of course, I only partially read the whole thing, and quickly went to comments from other readers. That is, what I admit shamefully sometimes, is the best part. Here are some that perhaps can make you giggle; even with a serious subject:

§ Who Will Rescue Me?

NOTE:  I've been having a bit of a nasty time on the computer for the last couple of days....I can boot up, but then just minutes at a time, and then it crashes, reboot and it runs really slow.  I'm upgrading everything as I type this, and doing a thorough virus/malware/spyware scan, hoping to find the problem[s].  So, if I can't visit your blog you'll know why...

I thought of this song right away, in fact by the time I got home, I was humming it....From the movie: The Rescuers. Altho the song is mostly instrumental, near the end of it there ARE lyrics. This past week, when I was leaving the drug store, at the exit I nearly stepped on an injured, small bird!! [perhaps a Tennessee Warbler?] I didn't want ANYONE to step on it and kill it unintentionally, and I didn't want to just remove it from the doorway and place it on the grassy area near the parking lot 'cause there is a four lane street just inches away. I was afraid it may hop into the street and cars would...well, you know. So I picked it up and drove home with it in my hand. One of its legs was contorted at the time. It obviously flew into the glass doors of the store, and was in shock. Once home I placed it in a small container and let it rest and 'come to'. Checking on it periodically, its eyes would open and watch me watching it. Eventually the one leg that seemed out of kilter, straightened up, and soon it was hopping around some. The wings weren't damaged, the tail feathers were somewhat messed up...but with the newfound activity I witnessed after a couple of hours, I took the box containing the bird, and let it loose in the shaded area of our flower garden. In no time, it hopped away and then eventually flew up into a bush, clung to a branch for a few minutes and flew off. I hope, it was a happy ending!!

"Who Will Rescue Me?"

From the site LyricsTime, I found this:

Who will rescue me?
Who will rescue me?
Who will rescue me?

I'm lost at sea without a friend
This journey, will it ever end?

Who will rescue me?
Rescue me
Rescue me

THURSDAY TRASH TALK

I haven't done one of these in weeks!!! After I read this little pig [went to market?] story, I couldn't resist 'cause the comments once again are the best part. But first a bit of the news story to get y'all up to date...

Is it pork-ageddon? Britain's National Pig Association has sounded the alarm that the world should brace for an "unavoidable" bacon and pork shortage next year. The cause of the trouble is high pig-feed costs caused by what it describes in a press release as "the global failure of maize and soya harvests." The organization notes that new data shows that pig herds are declining at a significant rate, not just in Britain, but around the world. The way out of this coming catastrophe is to subsidize pig farmers to stem the loss of their herds, says the industry group. The organization has also launched a "Save Our Bacon" campaign, which encourages consumers to buy British pork products. It's not just Europe that will be seeing shortages: The U.S. will also face a bacon shortage. The Guardian reports that the cost of bacon has doubled since 2006, and record droughts are to blame. Consumption of bacon is falling as prices have been rising.

And now...the comments from other readers:

Speaking of pigs, do you all know that pigs can communicate amongst themselves from hundreds of miles away...with "ham" radios that is. Oh, one more thing before I leave you all. Its' been a few weeks since I've done a bit of 'trash talk'. Today, I am thinking it's time to do another...

A woman who went to China's Changsha Central Hospital complaining of itching in the left side of her head was told by doctors that the source of irritation was a spider that had been living inside her ear canal for five days. Doctors reportedly used a saline solution to flush out the spider in order to avoid having the spider burrow deeper inside the canal or bite her. The flushing technique was successful and the woman reportedly wept with gratitude after being told the spider was removed. Doctors say they believe the spider entered the woman's home while the home was undergoing renovations, and crawled into her ear while she was sleeping.

Today, there is a 'twist' to the themesong, instead of promoting women and beauty, Miss America is represented by our country and the freedoms we have even tho there is a shared discontent with what's going on in Congress these days...and I can't really explain it, but with all the hoopla and mess that the GOP/Dems in Congress fighting for themselves because it's an election year instead of working FOR the people who supposedly govern the country...I've just been more patriotic than usual. Yep, can't explain it...but it's there, inside me....

There she is, Miss America
There she is, your ideal
The dream of a million girls who are more than pretty can come true
in New York Atlantic City
For she may turn out to be the Queen of femininity

There she is, Miss America
There she is, your ideal
With so many beauties she took the town by storm
With her all-American face and form

And there she is
Walking on air, she is
Fairest of the fair, she is
There she is ...
- Miss America

It's been a while since I've actually partaken in my Thursday Trash Talk!!! Tho, I'm busy with this Norwegian so called genealogy [I say that 'cause every one of the ancestors are either a 'sen' [son] or datter [daughter]....confusing as all get out!!! I'm starting to see sens and datters everywhere!!! LOL Okay, I need to take a break from all this and make someone smile a bit. Hope this one I choose today is as good for you as it was for me!----

Val P. said his life motto was "Anything for a laugh." And after the 59-year-old died of throat cancer last week, he owned up to a few humorous events from his life. Patterson's obituary in The Salt Lake Tribune begins like many others, with a loving tribute to his wife, Mary Jane, and recollections of a life lived in full. But then things get more interesting, as Patterson notes, "Now that I have gone to my reward, I have confessions and things I should now say." First up, the former engineer admits he never earned the advanced degree from the University of Utah that gained him entrance to his chosen professional career:

"What happened was that the day I went to pay off my college student loan at the U of U, the girl working there put my receipt into the wrong stack, and two weeks later, a PhD diploma came in the mail. I didn't even graduate, I only had about 3 years of college credit. In fact, I never did even learn what the letters 'PhD' even stood for..."

...the article goes on and on with Val's self-written obit, and trust me, it's a pretty darned good read. You wouldn't believe me if I told you more. You're just gonna hafta read it in its whole form [HERE]. But with what I shared, you can tell the man left this earth with a great sense of humor, and confessed things you can't fathom regarding Old Faithful being plugged and more; I'm sure it was all a hoax, but in any case a fun read.

As usual tho, the comments after the articles are a hoot!!!

§ The sweet sound of Rod...

I am sailing, I am sailing.
home again, 'cross the sea.

I am sailing stormy waters
To be near you, to be free

I am flying, I am flying
Like a bird 'cross the sky

I am flying, passing high clouds
To be near you, to be free

Can you hear me, can you hear me
through the dark night far away

I am dying, forever crying
To be with you, who can say

Can you hear me, can you hear me
through the dark night far away

I am dying, forever crying
To be with you, who can say

We are sailing, we are sailing
Home again 'cross the sea
We are sailing stormy waters

To be near you, to be free

To be near you, to be free

To be near you, to be free

To be near you, to be free

MIAMI (AP) — The 8-year-old twins love their iPad. They draw, play games and expand their vocabulary. Their family's teenagers also like the hand-held computer tablets, too, but the clan's elders show no interest. They're orangutans at Miami's Jungle Island...

as always the comments are the best part of these articles. Here are a few....

rookgaroo posted: Things were a lot more personal in my day. Back then, if orangutans wanted to communicate they'd pick up the phone, or sit down and write a letter.

joost posted: The next time you are being chatted up in a singles chat-room, you have more to worry about than the actual gender of the person with whom you are chatting.

dontlikeit_cry posted: Big deal...They've been doing that in Washington for years.

Charles posted: It is bad enough that my pre-school grandchildren know more about how to use the iPad than I do, but I refuse to ask orangutans for help.

part time posted: Maybe Clint Eastwood could make a sequel to Every Which Way But Loose, crossed with Million Dollar Baby, called Million Dollar Ape, a story about a boxing Orangutan that rides shotgun with a GPS, punches out biker gangs when they pull up next to the truck, writes apps for iPads and iPhones and fights in the new All-Animal classification of MMA.

spunky posted: I saw one and read, it had on it - "Hey Joe, let's plan our escape and go to Red Robins..I hear they have great banana splits.........sounds good Bo................"

---and last one

Don posted: Just wait till they learn how to order take out....
