§ Miscellany....
Blogger is not cooperating for me this time around. So, just photos posted for today...
§ Heart and Soul...
The blog title is misguiding...there is no soul here, unless you consider I put my soul into typing this up! *wink It's been a while since I've shared photos of hearts found in nature [and in happenstance]. I have six of them in my archives. Some, you really have to use your imagination, but I saw hearts in all the following. See if you can see them too. Since I'm staying home today [it's cold and damp and drizzling], I thought I'd get these up on Blogger to preschedule for a Friday show and tell...
The heart I saw near the kingfisher is in the wood. Misshapened, but still a heart? [elongated ...on the right]
This is a bit more obvious. On the larger brush..the silver brush encasement...to the far right.
Partial heart uppermost cloud.
This one is a no-brainer!!
§ Along the Jetty...

After taking photos of the sunrise and cloud bank on the shore, I picked up my lensball and got back in the car and drove back to the jetty at Packery Channel. The cloud formations were quickly dispersing with the heat from the sun. As the daylight became lighter and brighter, the horizon was a bit hazy [as you can see in this photo taken just above the sand dunes heading toward the Channel trail] with the Saharan sand that has been drifting into the Texas Gulf for most of the midsummer days. -see screenshot shared at top, left- [Yes, Saharan as in African]. And times the entire city is under bad air quality because of the amount coming ashore, eventually reaching north into San Antonio and Dallas at times. I don't mind a dust storm much knowing that the sandy particles, even tho they traverse in the wind currents for 1000s of miles, it's keeping the hurricane and tropical storms out of our area. And, I'll take the dust any day instead of damaging, flooding storms. Once the dust subsides off the coast of Africa, we always have a hurricane potential. As I stated in my previous post I published on Tuesday [?} of the sunrise and lensball in the surf photos, I didn't walk long. But I took photos along the jetty trail and at the beach before turning around and driving back home...

At the beach, a common tern
Along the jetty boulders, two Snowy Egrets
A sunflower reaching toward the sunlight
A gentlemen with his bait net, catching minnows for fishing
The hazy morning air is prominent in this photo of dune morning glories
The calm sea at the end of the jetty, the minimal surf pounding against the boulders
A Great Blue Heron
And lastly I found another heart...this is of a pylon along the trail with a broken piece out of its topside!!

§ Monday...
To begin my week, I thought I'd start off with a 'shot in the arm'!! Pertaining, of course, to Covid-19, what else?
I can't help myself. Even if you personally like Dr. Fauci, this is still a hoot. In my opinion anyway!!! Okay, confession time...Dr. Fauci yanks my gears the wrong way. Again, personal opinion, and when Erik texted this to me, it made my day and I giggled a lot. On the required 2nd "dose" here, I follow this medical expert's theories more so when it boils down to the pandemic. Besides, the pandemic AND Science is all based on theory... Dr. Jha, I like him more.

Now, on with a Monday blog...
I found a few more hearts. A tree [where a limb had been cut off long ago, a leaf, and one I unintentionally made. The birds get fed royally in our yard. Seed, water, seed bars, suet, fruit, jelly, and peanut butter sometimes. But the suet cake was a fluke of my maneuvers. You see, before I unwrap the suet cake from the plastic covering, I poke a large slit with a knife on the bottom side, so I can then slide in onto the feeder dish [it has a metal stake in the center, and when I slide it on, over the stake, it stays put and doesn't move.] So, after I slit the plastic tray with a knife, Bud said, "You know what that looks like, don't you?" Lo and behold another heart. Okay, you probably need to delve deep into your imagination, perhaps!
§ Dissertation...Book...Flowers...Hearts
It's been a while since I've shared nature's hearts. Here are some from my archives where I save for future postings like today. Three leaves and one broken nest from a Kiskadee bird...

This will be my last update on the birthday's Table Top Garden. I think most of the bulbs shipped in the planter have either bloomed or is now in full bloom, as you can see in the first of the series of 6 photos, before they all too soon fade away. I'm thinking of experimenting with them over the non-growing season for this temperate zone and its high water ground table and see if I can't encourage them to bloom next year. Wish me luck.

Lastly, I realized this morning I never did a critique on the last book that I was reading when I posted on my blog. All I can say is, don't bother even opening the cover. It made no sense throughout. Well, it did somewhat, but all I can say after finishing it, what was the purpose of writing this in the first place. I am now reading "The Queen's Fortune". A historical novel of Napoleon's first love. By Allison Pataki. It was recommended to me from my sister. It's a hit and miss reading since I've been helping with the English grammar and punctuation of my son's PhD dissertation on Churchill. That is taking up a lot of my time which I don't mind helping...but, he'd better dedicate his work to "For My Mother" lololol.
§ 2020 in Review - Part II
These, found in a photo folder on the laptop, I've never shared before, but the images were recorded this year. Thought I would take time today to show them off. I'm always on the lookout for heart shapes when I am walking or working in the yard. They're all more or less self-explanatory, leaves, fungus and rock...
PART I (lensball photos)
§ To the Tune of Jamaica Farewell
chorus...
I'm glad to say I'm on my way
South of home to the town, Port A
My heart is glad
And my car's in gear
I'm primed for all the beautiful birds I hear!

Oh, I'm glad to say, along the bay
I drove some miles,
Seeing beauty that wowed...
Then mid-morn - a cotton-filled, heart-shaped cloud!!
Jamaica Farewell by the Kingston Trio
