§ TWO Parks - TWO Collages....

With walking two parks, I took quite a few photos; it was such a beautiful day! I tend to get distracted by many things when the weather is perfect. Low humidity, mild 70° range, a slight breeze and deep blue sky kissed with the fair weather cumulous, clouds! Once I reached the peak where the observation tower is that looks out on the mudflats and a portion of the bay, I'm "on top" of the world, looking down into the tree tops [bottom right photo in 2nd collage] and over the flats for bird activity. This day tho, I watched the beautiful white clouds drifting quickly above me while just listening to birdsong! And since there were many photos, I made two larger collages to show off nature...

I've done some walking at two above mentioned parks this past week.  One park there were reported Godwits that are uncommon in our area.  I've seen a group of them only once in my 10+ years of taking birding to a whole new level [photography].  And, believe it or not, the first time I saw them it was after a very heavy rainstorm and the ranch fields flooded!  Well, we had a flooding storm about a week ago, and the standing water is in a different field across from a park I frequent. Off I went...they were still there as another birder texted me!  Hot diggety-dog.  We do have other Godwits that are seen regularly, but not these migrants; as you can see on the habitat map [courtesy of Google Search].  Besides, they are the most attractive of the species in my opinion.  Especially when all decked out in their breeding plumage which some had when I found them!]

I made a pasta salad with shrimp and cheese for dinner tonight. Side dishes of jello with fruit, toasted garlic bread, and warm apple pie for dessert. Neither of us feel like joining the Mother's Day crowds at restaurants for dining. We'll just enjoy each other's company and watch movies. Hope those who celebrate today have a wonderful time together with family!  Bud bought me a book for Mother's Day that I have been wanting...SUNFLOWER SISTERS, by Martha Kelly.  I've read one of  her other two books and enjoyed it very much.  Hope this one is as good or better.  I can only hope.  It's a favorite subject for historical novels, for me...Civil War.

§ Hearts Galore ...Plus

I'm late in getting started for the day in blogging...If you have visited here in the past, you already know that I stop and take a picture of something I find that is heart shaped. Sometimes, I've been known to backtrack when it dawns on me that I missed one. My photos are usually something that is outdoors, as I walk trails, but...

...they could be something indoors too. For instance this one:

Did you find the heart? In any case, I also mentioned in the last blog post that I may begin to use props for new entries here at Hootin' Anni's. So, without further adieu, let me introduce the crowd pleasing, celebrated, Ella Phantz-Gerald. She's quite old as far as age goes, but she can be quite active. She's small for her species; only 4 feet in length, but she has a soft side! And every once in a while, you'll see her lurking at this location! Stay tuned.

Ps...the heart on Ella is at the tip of her trunk.

§ Weekend Morning Scenes...

Along the 3 mile trail at Indian Point Park, near the Corpus Christi's North Bay, I saw these scenic views Saturday morning. The trail, the observation decks, the  pier, the tidal pools, the Gulf, a grandfather and grandson fishing, a tanker, and the early morning light....

...by late afternoon, it was raining heavily. Again.

§ On the Third Day of the New Year...

While walking along the quiet beach
I saw an incredibly beautiful sky!  Even tho I have been suffering from a severe cough and a feeling of being worn down, I had to get out and get some sunshine.

I just couldn't stop looking up most all the time. The cloud formations were dazzling!

As I tallied up my steps I took some other snaps of the shutter. Along the dunes, sometimes you'll notice crosses placed here and there [3rd photo in series]. Usually it is a swimmer or surfer that got caught in rip currents and didn't make it out alive...

Surfers and brown pelicans entertain those of us that do our walking along the shoreline...

I loved seeing the long, long shadow of the tiny sanderling on the sandy shore, flattened by the ebbing tide [below] making him a giant in the world of small!

...on the drive out of the channel's parking lot, these two images appeared in my viewfinder...

I was tired, but happy to be outdoors in the fresh air.  I don't like feeling sick.  I did go nap  in the afternoon.
