PICTURES OF MY NEWEST PENCIL SKETCH are here for show n tell!!!

Compose a 55 word blog entry...using fiction.

Here I sit a bit broken-hearted.
Promised snow and the sky only farted.
From above fell only ice...
Cold and icy storm from the clouds.

Sirens blaring on the freeway
Clear air; sounds travel far---
A good day to stay home,
away from the hustle and bustle...
the fools, the drivers, the insanity, the crowds.

[what makes this 'fiction' is I'm happy as a pig in a mudhole that it DIDN'T snow!!!!!---I don't like snow]

SHOW N TELL

Okay, tell me....just how LONG have Bud and I lived in this house in Texas? Yep, going on seven years!! And I had a revelation!! Of the close-encounter type! Bring on the National Enquirer...no, on second thought, don't tell ANYone. But, realize you saw it here first. I really don't want those overzealous religious 'freaks' showing up in our neighborhood and blocking the streets and driveways, searching for a religious phenomenon that will save us all. But wait, I still want to share this with those who visit me today looking for a show n tell post. A while ago, several days, weeks ago in fact, when I opened our garage door to get the car backed out, I walked around the backside of the car to get into the driver's seat. And, yes, a squirrel scurried down the trunk of the pecan tree which made me look up because of the commotion. The light of day was just right...and the vision caught my eye immediately!! Once I noticed it, Bud was at his work bench in the garage and I told him he had to come look. Hoping he'd see the same as I did, I pointed it out to him with words only; where he was to look without pointing directly to it and not giving him any clue as to what I saw. Sure 'nough, he saw it too. Being that we now know where to look, we continued to seek it out at different times of day on different days. Come early daylight or dusk, cloudy or sunny...he keeps his vigil over our house and yard. And it only took us over 6 years to see it----------

Do YOU see him, tho primitive as it may be?

...if not, I colored in the feature[s] in the bark of the tree to assist you. Look at the primitive outlining I did, and compare with the above, natural, setting. Does it not look like Jesus Christ's image?---

FLASH 55
today, my 55 isn't fiction

Heart and blood
Hardly an inkling of contrast
One; of kindred resolution
Today I celebrate; with her in mind
Today she celebrates.
We'll ring in the new year, sure--
But also her birth; years past
Together we've a special bond of sisterhood,
A solid institution!!
A sorority of a single kind...

Happy Birthday dear Sharon

FLASH FICTION 55

ON CHRISTMAS EVE 2009.....

old woman Pictures, Images and Photos

Her age-worn hand on her chin
Gazing out the window.
A single tear fell to her lap.
Through the doorway I watched in silence...
"What far away thoughts lay in her mind?"

A girl, a wife, a mother, a grandmother...
Ten decades passed so quickly---
Time took its toll.
Christmas Eve, she passed away. Alone.

SHOW N TELL

For the Thanksgiving holiday this year I've done very little when it comes to decorating the interior. And you can take that literally. Everything I put out around the house, it's all in miniatures. Here is the 'small' array of items placed here and there. The BIG thing for this special day around here is the BIG amount of calorie intake. I'll have the traditional turkey, dressing and cranberry waldorf salad. Along with mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, yams with brown sugar and marshmallows, homemade biscuits, relish dish with olives, cheeses, celery and pickled peppers, cole slaw, not to leave out the best part---------pumpkin pie and REAL whipped cream!!! Ahhhhhhhhhhh, it's a good day all around. While that's all cooking, we'll do our annual watching of the Dallas Cowboys [are they playing this year on Thanksgiving? I haven't checked their schedule...of course they will...right?], decorating the Christmas Tree during the game and then feasting on all the good stuff!!! The pie'll be gone in two days to be sure, but for the rest of the stuff, it'll take weeks to get it all consumed...as I freeze leftovers and make turkey stroganov and hot turkey sandwiches and turkey salad with pecans and dried cranberries on different occasions.

FLASH 55

While doing crossword puzzles, I came upon these two clues:
One across...
a three letter word for a large hard seed
Two down...
a five letter word for framework or exterior, as of a building. an outer covering on an egg, fruit.
So, for this week, that's my flash fiction fifty-five; in a nut shell!

SHOW N TELL

This past week, out of boredom, I began a new sketch on my watercolor tablet in hopes of painting her soon. Well, I started painting on it nearly as quickly as I finished the sketch. Of course, I won't have it completed for this Halloween 'cause it came to a stop because of the cold I caught, and there is a lot to be done and then detailing afterward, but it'll get done and then I have a whole year to get it matted and framed for NEXT season.......

FLASH FICTION 55
[a bit too human perhaps?]

T'other night, dining out; we ordered our dinners
Smothered in chili verdé
Bean burritos were brought to our table...
Afterward, to the convenience store
for a soda to ease my innards.
Made it home to relax in silence and peace...
when out of nowhere, my dear man o' mine--
let out a raucous, gaseous release!!!

FLASH FICTION 55

Stepping over the threshold
Floorboards creaking and crackling
Leaving the moonlight behind; darkness enfolds.
A faint moan, a distant scream....
Going towards something alarming.
Your daring soul reaches onward,
Continuing in the ebony folds of the
unknown; walls that consume you.
Every step feeling pounding, terrifying heartbeats...
Fright turns to bravery
Courage now becomes unharming.

note: I've had this haunted house image in my graphic folder for years---I do not know from where it came. If anyone who visits knows the credits to the artist, please let me know so I can add it here...thanks.
