§ Let's Go Surfing Now....

Up front, I am compelled to apologize for the heavy post filled with photos! I adjusted the viewing size to help this post's loading time! If you wish to view larger images, make use of the Blogger option of clicking on the pictures to embiggen with its Lightbox filter! This is the morning I sat on the shore of the Gulf watching the surfing activities and watching the sea crash into the jetty's boulders. After fighting for my balance and trying to hold my camera steady in the wind, I gave up and walked along the shoreline a while, finding a whole sand dollar partially buried...

§ Along the Channel - Beach

...those that arrived before me:

As I posted in my previous post, He is Strong, the day began early for a lot of us. By the time I arrived at the beach, shortly before sunrise, the surfers and sports fishermen were already there. A lot of them! As I drove into the parking lot to begin at the paved walkway along the channel, the sun was peeking over the sand dunes. I enjoy the rising of the sun more than setting. It's a new day, a new beginning...

I'm a sucker for LOVE. This couple walking hand in hand on the warm beach oblivious to that that surrounded them...

...the dune vines/flowers were just beginning to open. With the rainfall aplenty the last couple of weeks, the white morning glory vines were quite abundant - all OVER the dunes! The pink railroad vine was lacking as was the yellow blossoms, but I did find a few. At the entrance to the beach access road, the warning flags were blowing in the wind...red/dangerous rip currents and orange/caution for surfers I believe. I am not really sure.

Once back home, I made a blackberry pie, using my Texas shaped cookie cutter for the top crust [all made from scratch -including the crust]. I only show you this, 'cause the oven is clean...

§ Turbulence on the Sea and a Mystery Guest

The sea was turbulent, the fog was settling in. Bud and I walked the Packery Channel before sunrise. But first, before the photos for the day, can you tell what this is? Perhaps your guess is correct. Scroll down to see if that is so. But be careful not to get too wet with the ocean spray!! Believe it or not, these are NOT black and white photos, tho the storm makes it appear that way.

Okay, what was your guess? We're looking through the morning mist, and the view is dim. Here it is....

Did you get the answer correct? Yep, it's Wiley Coyote...or maybe Wilma Coyote. It was searching for breakfast. Only to disappear shortly after these photos were taken.

§ Sunday Morning...

This is a very large sized collage [1450x1625 pixels]. So, in my software program I saved it with a jpg optimizer which will make the colors a bit distorted, accomplishing a shorter loading time. But, you will still get the gist of the series. One man was out off the sandy shore just a short distance, trapping live bait. Once his net had some bait, he came in and placed the live fish in the tank. Well, his actions brought on two very curious egrets [young Reddish Egrets - one white morph, one dark morph]. They watched the man, then the white one left and flew out into the sea just a way off shore, while the other dark morph egret remained; trying to figure out how to get inside for breakfast! I guess you had to be there; it was comical!

And farther from this action, a couple was walking along the beach with their dog...seems the dog didn't want to be free...it wanted to be on the leash. Or maybe, since the last image in the series shows the pooch tugging at the leash, it wanted to go back home to its Kibble 'n' Bits!!! lol

On the water, there were a few surfers! Yes, the morning was warm....again [or should I say still?] Temps soared to near 90 degrees on Sunday!

§ Surfin' [Corpus Christi...USA]

...continuing on my walk in the foggy air, I mentioned previously that I stood on the jetty walkway to watch the surfers as I listened to the sound of the waves crashing on the boulders just below my feet...

This particular morning the surf was a bit gnarly, so the surfers were getting in some good curls, while others rode the waves only to have a wipe out....

Early in the morning we'll be startin' out
Some honeys will be coming along
We're loading up our Woody
With our boards inside
And headin' out singing our song

Come on (surfin') baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surfin') take you surfin' (surfin' safari)with me
Come along (surfin') baby wait and see (surfin' safari)
Yes I'm gonna (surfin') take you surfin' (surfin' safari)with me...

...time to call it a day!

Let’s call it a day
Let us say
That we just can’t pretend.
And we know it’s the end,
Why delay?
Let’s call it a day
