“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

World's record for largest/heaviest pumpkin ---weighing in at 1524 [World Champion Weigh Off] pounds!! And the 'owner/grower' gets paid $6.00 a pound...that's over $9000.00 if my math is correct. Now, that's a lotta pies!!! And sweet winnings. I swear, my dad had a huge garden when I was single and still at home; also for his grandkids. And he grew pumpkins! I always said "Your pumpkins grow so huge 'cause you spit that nasty tobacco on 'em during growing season". But hey.....none of his compares to this one.

And Moogie commented with a question if I had taken the photos of the haunted cemetery [above, my Wordless Wednesday share]. The answer is yes. I took the photos in DAYLIGHT!!! And then with my paint program made them greyscale and added the eerie lighting to them for W W.

  1. * * * According to city folklore, Corpus Christi - BayView Cemetery is rumored to have 'sightings'---

    This cemetery was formally laid out by General Zachary Taylor's engineers between 1845-1846. This cemetery is a local historical landmark. It is rumored to be haunted.

  11. Do you remember the story somewhere near Austin about the little ghosts of kids who push cars off the rail road tracks where they died. And, you use baby powder to see them? I heard that in Texas History class. You need to post about that for your Spooky Halloweeny month.

    You get my vote for most consistent with a theme! You've certainly gone all out this month!

  31. Ahhh, Hootin' Anni thanx for the treat!

    I never noticed that cemetery while I was in Corpus, looks like I missed out. I did make it to the Aquarium and I love that old building on the other side of the bridge, old courthouse maybe? I don't know but it's abandoned right by the bridge, on the right, as you leave downtown to cross the bridge.
