§ Easter Sunday Sketch...

Drawing time about 20-30 minutes! This was a very simple sketch while I waited for our Easter meal to finish cooking [Baked Ham, sweet potatoes, steamed brussel sprouts and warm oven rolls]. For dessert I made from scratch Irish Ginger Apple Cake topped with frozen vanilla yogurt [I didn't make the yogurt tho :-)]. As you can see, my sketching pencil is becoming close to a 'stub' in this preview sketch!! We had several things to do on Monday, including an appointment for Bud, so we decided to go to Hobby Lobby for my pencils [I also found an egg separator on sale for 66% off 'cause it's Easter theme]. Then, we stopped at grocery store and book store! Making it a day away from home.

ps...Jean @ Cheerful Monk: I can't get your blog to open on desktop, laptop, OR phone! :-(

§ Fancy a Cuppa, and a Rabbit or Two?...

Several months back, I cleaned out the dining room hutch where some holiday treasures are saved. From Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. It was getting cramped with too much stuff, so I decided to declutter a bit and donated many little trinkets; mostly Easter Egg Cups! I went down from 40 to just a dozen. Now I can get the cupboard doors to shut properly! LOL And, not having so many items to unpack, and then repack when the season is over takes less time too. These shown below are what is left over from my gutting the shelves!!...

§ Spring is Busting Out in the Stores....

As I mentioned in my previous post, "Living on the Edge", I spotted and photographed the banded brown pelican that was on the jetty...a few weeks ago. Well, when I got home I sent in the information to get the bird's history. I received the certificate via email:

I also mentioned in the same post that when I do get the chance to photograph and record a bird that has been tagged, I try to always send it in. I then went through my bird blog and did a bit of searching for any that I posted on that blog. This one I spotted and thought I'd share its history with you. It was banded in North Dakota, and I spotted it [14 miles east of Champman Ranch on the beach in Nueces/Kleberg County line Texas.] As you can see this plover [isn't it a cutie?!!] has been banded several times to get more of its life and migration [approximately 1500-1600 miles twice a year!!] through the time period. Now you understand the emotions and excitement it stirs in me:

On Sunday, I was bored. We have had heavy, at times flooding, rains. As I waited for the Divisional Playoff Football games to begin, I wanted to go to At Home, home furnishing store for a throw rug for the back door. I bought two new area rugs for under the coffee table and the dining room table.

Well, the throw rug that was there for years just didn't 'fit' afterwards. I wanted something that would match. LOL I had time, so off I went to shop. I found one that was very similar to the new area rugs. And then, since it has been so wet, gray, and chilly, I spent some time just walking around the store. The store is getting ready for all things Spring!! Lifted my spirits some...

Then, for all of us who are tired of snow, winter chills, storms, etc. Here are some cheery photos on the store shelves. Hope some or all bring a smile to your day:

§ Easter ...

This is kinda a bit here and there, eclectic in photos, but all pertaining to Easter > > > Hoppy Bunny Day to y'all. I mentioned a few days ago, I made a cheesecake. Well, the two of us just finished it off. I used the pre-made graham cracker crust since it's so much less mess to clean up and actually cheaper than buying the box of crackers and throwing them away eventually, since they're never used up around here,  and using your own sugar and butter to make one from scratch. Tastes just as good, and once the cheese batter [that is from scratch] is mixed to a smooth, and creamy texture it 'fits' the pre-made pie shell so much better; instead of my large 10" pie plates...fills up to the brim with purchased already made!!! It's delicious, but oh such a heavy dessert! Tiny, thin slices is plenty for each of us. I topped mine with my tart cherry pie filling...

...then my two Easter themed works of art. Long ago these were part of my drawings and painting. And yes, I realize that the walk to Golgotha [outside Jerusalem] was desert, this depiction is from the Sunrise Service here, on the beach...in Cole Park each Easter Morning. I painted the cross for Irene. The crown of thorns is stored in my art portfolio:

...lastly, a new platter for decoration in the house! I could not resist buying this at our local grocery store. It was on sale for a couple of bucks, and the bunny was too cute to leave on the shelf!

§ All My Eggs in One House...

St. Pat's Day was another rainy day. In the morning. I treated myself to hot chocolate and shamrock butter cookies. I also talked on the phone with my sister since this year will be our 28th year of celebrating sister's day. Neither one of us felt up to much fanfare this year. I think it's the fact we've done nothing but stay home and not been able to travel or do anything called normal. This covid could certainly cause many to fall into a deep depression. I know I, for one, am miserably  tired of the mundane days that seem to drag on. And the weeks pass all too slowly. Maybe that is a good thing; life isn't passing by quickly as I age with this covid lifestyle. But, boy, the boredom can sure set in.

By mid afternoon, the temps soared and the sun broke free from the overcast sky. It was all too muggy to work any outdoors with the foundation fern extraction, so I decided to take down the St. Pat's decorations and unpack something I haven't brought out in a couple of years...my Easter Egg Cup collection. They've been wrapped snuggly and safe from breakage, stored in a plastic bin, high on a shelf for a few Easters. This year, being that a lot are whimsical in style, I thought they just may lift the spirits. Once unpacked and some chosen that are especially cute, I then, got out the artificial Easter eggs and started putting all things Easter around the house. ...On the table, the dining room hutch, the coffee table, and a few on the fireplace mantle. Eventually, I heard myself humming "In Your Easter Bonnet". Easter this year is on the 4th of April. Just a little over two weeks from today.

I'll begin with showing off my wooden ball bunny I made a few years ago. Both front and rear views. And then, my double basket bunny that holds small salt and pepper shakers:

Then, just a few of the egg cups I set out:

Some extras brought out. The Gnome, the bunny napkin rings and the pink rabbit nutcracker are new this year:
