Easter Sunday....

The only place in town that was still open was the large cemetery, and the smaller, historical cemetery 'next door' to the larger.

It was quiet, only two other people had the same idea. I became a little obsessed with an "Easter Theme" in my photos today as I walked my abbreviated walk in the sunshine with the dappled shade from the massive oak trees.

Hope all remain safe and healthy. Happy Easter.

  1. Those are unusual tombstones. I don't think I would find any like that in our area. Good finds!

  7. I think only the really old cemeteries have these sculptures, there are several in Savannah, my parents are buried in the new part, which only allow flat stones that can be mowed over, but the old part has these same type things. I did smile at the only place open on Easter was the cemetery.

    1. All parks' gates were closed to the public yesterday. No place to walk except for neighborhoods.

  14. Oh Anni.... your beautiful pictures gave me the chills! I so love cemetery statuary. I don't think they make it like this anymore... and if they did, nobody would buy it anyway. Religion was so important back then... statues of angels, Mother Mary, Jesus in His suffering... I wonder how many people actually give any of that a thought anymore. Thank you so much for these beautiful pictures! Love, Andrea xoxo

  16. Cemeteries are great, nobody around so quiet and peaceful. Lots of geocaches, lots of decent tombstones and other decorations. I love hanging around cemeteries.
