The only place in town that was still open was the large cemetery, and the smaller, historical cemetery 'next door' to the larger.
It was quiet, only two other people had the same idea. I became a little obsessed with an "Easter Theme" in my photos today as I walked my abbreviated walk in the sunshine with the dappled shade from the massive oak trees.

Hope all remain safe and healthy. Happy Easter.
Those are unusual tombstones. I don't think I would find any like that in our area. Good finds!
ReplyDeleteThey really tug at the heart strings.
DeleteVery poignant and different tombstones, Anni. I really appreciate your sensitive photos, and I hope that you had a safe and very memorable Easter Sunday. Blessings to you and virtual hugs. :-)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help myself after seeing the first one when I drove thru the gates.
DeleteThese stones are amazing works of art. What a wonderful idea to post these on Easter Sunday.
ReplyDelete...I thought they were as close to the meaning of Easter I was gonna get this year.
DeleteThis just says it all. Wow, what a wonderful idea to post these tombstones! Beautiful, sad affecting, and hopeful. You win my prize for the most creative Easter post today.
ReplyDeleteGoodness...thanks Ginny, for such kind words.
DeleteHello, they are beautiful tombstones! Take care, stay safe! Enjoy your day, have a great new week!
ReplyDeleteStay safe yourself!
DeleteI don't think I have ever seen tombstones like these before. They're beautiful and certainly make for an excellent Easter post. Hope you enjoyed your day
ReplyDeleteI thought "easter" as I walked the roads.
DeleteI think only the really old cemeteries have these sculptures, there are several in Savannah, my parents are buried in the new part, which only allow flat stones that can be mowed over, but the old part has these same type things. I did smile at the only place open on Easter was the cemetery.
ReplyDeleteAll parks' gates were closed to the public yesterday. No place to walk except for neighborhoods.
Deletehere is the link, you can walk a little virtually, I am off to walk there now

DeleteAmazing and beautiful tombstones.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed them!
DeleteDon't think I have seen any like that. Beautiful and quite touching.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly humbled me seeing all these as I prepared to post.
DeleteThese are beautiful photos for Easter.
ReplyDeleteI happen to love visiting old cemeteries.
They have beautiful old architecture and tombstones.
Stay Safe 🌷
Me too...I got started on visiting cemeteries during my many decades of genealogy research.
DeleteHope your Easter was good as well.
ReplyDeleteThis year it was a "off" day, but still it was Easter!
DeleteOh Anni.... your beautiful pictures gave me the chills! I so love cemetery statuary. I don't think they make it like this anymore... and if they did, nobody would buy it anyway. Religion was so important back then... statues of angels, Mother Mary, Jesus in His suffering... I wonder how many people actually give any of that a thought anymore. Thank you so much for these beautiful pictures! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteYes...the older sections are magnificent!
DeleteThis was a great idea...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteCemeteries are great, nobody around so quiet and peaceful. Lots of geocaches, lots of decent tombstones and other decorations. I love hanging around cemeteries.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!
