My Driftwood Project #2...

Some of the comments in my last beach walk post were about what I was going to do with the piece of driftwood. Well, my search was for a good long, smoothed from the surf, 'stick'. To make another broom handle [besom]. But this time instead of it being near fake and made from grass blades, I wanted to make one more 'realistic', and life sized!! I found this piece:
Sanded it, then, applied polyurethane coating. After that all dried overnight, I then tore apart two Cinnamon scented brooms you find in the floral department of grocery stores. Wrapped the 'bristles' around the shaft and then used thin jute to secure them. Once the bristles were added to the broom shaft, it is 65 inches in length. I now have it propped up by my witch display around the fireplace....
Now, in the moonlight [full moon on the 31st!!], if you see anything flying around in the night sky, it might be me taking my new broom for a test drive. Be careful, I just may cast a spell on you...[just kidding]  Question is, just where will I park it when Halloween is over?  In the garage closet?

  1. You can leave it out all year round, Anni, and I'm guessing it would work pretty good... for cleaning (not for flying). :-D *LOL* ~Andrea xoxo

  3. How clever and it looks great. Wherever you decide to park it, it should smell good since you used the cinnamon scented ones.

    1. Right now it's against the fireplace, but where I'm gonna store it after Halloween, I don't know.

  5. Hello,

I love walking past the cinnamon scented brooms in the stores. It is great you were able to make one out of your driftwood. I will check the skies to see if I see any broom flying by. Take care, enjoy your day!

  10. Give elbowroom for Anni's broom as it will exit its tomb to boom! Riding high in the sky she will fly by. I'm ready, how about you?

  13. What a clever idea! Summer has a collection of driftwood - I may ask for a piece to do this. I have one nice long piece I am using to make a flag hanging for her birthday. Strips of lightweight denim or chambray hung likke a curtain from the driftwood. Plus I was with her when she found that piece!

  19. You found the perfect piece of Driftwood to make the perfect witches broom and be sure you get a selfie when you're out flying around on it or maybe even a video. I thought of you today I went into a store that sells clothing for the first time in seven months and sitting up by the cash register for sale were four of the cutest witches they were all 1299 Maybe 14 inches tall you have loved them
