§ October Decor...

I'll begin with the fireplace. I have changed it around a bit since I took the photo, but y'all will get the gist of it. Hootin' Anni's followers know by now that Halloween and my witch doll collection is my pride and joy. I do love Halloween. And I celebrate all month long not just the one day...

My handmade besom [life sized]
Black Pillar Candles
A Pair of Witch's boots [resin and new this year]
Two 1/2 scale witches [they have been moved to the floor in front of the fireplace]
Two Black Cats [eyes light up]
Cauldron [since placed inside the fireplace and witch hat clock replaced it]
A witch doll
A black witch hat [satin rose and spider web lace- new this year]

§ October! Finally!!

As you know, if you have followed me for the several years I've been blogging, this is my favorite month of the year! I love everything Halloween. Especially collecting witch 'dolls'. I have over 100 now. The past few years I don't even bother to unpack the resin witches stored in boxes...I just get the ones out that are dressed to the nines and show off their outfits. I name them too. Well, mostly. I pin name tags under the dresses so I can remember. This year, the best hag I found I named after my late mother in law!! [Helen Gwendolyn] Yes I did. And Bud doesn't mind. By the way, she is now sitting at the head of the dining room table!! I will show case all the new ones [and some older from years past] plus the lighting I have around the house. And my decorated black pine tree [which I really don't care for all that much...maybe next year I can improve it somehow]. I'll start the month off with my life-sized BEESOM that I made last year. I didn't hang it as I did last year. When it was sitting out in preparation to hang, Isaiah was curious...crept up on it, and when he smelled the cinnamon on the broom's bristles he backed off. Aha! Safe to leave it propped up on the floor. He doesn't like scented brooms. Yay!!

§ My Driftwood Project #2...

Some of the comments in my last beach walk post were about what I was going to do with the piece of driftwood. Well, my search was for a good long, smoothed from the surf, 'stick'. To make another broom handle [besom]. But this time instead of it being near fake and made from grass blades, I wanted to make one more 'realistic', and life sized!! I found this piece:
Sanded it, then, applied polyurethane coating. After that all dried overnight, I then tore apart two Cinnamon scented brooms you find in the floral department of grocery stores. Wrapped the 'bristles' around the shaft and then used thin jute to secure them. Once the bristles were added to the broom shaft, it is 65 inches in length. I now have it propped up by my witch display around the fireplace....
Now, in the moonlight [full moon on the 31st!!], if you see anything flying around in the night sky, it might be me taking my new broom for a test drive. Be careful, I just may cast a spell on you...[just kidding]  Question is, just where will I park it when Halloween is over?  In the garage closet?
