I love the heavy, intense greenery lasting nearly the entire year. And the backwoods Louisiana Bayou atmosphere of this area. Sometimes mysterious; other times just simply beautiful with the sun filtering through the many species of trees. That, and with one outstanding feature...the sounds of silence!!!! At times, I find myself thinking of Tia in Pirates of the Caribbean [at world's end] with all her magic....the sea goddess, Calypso. It's Paradise. Guess that's why we Texans call it Paradise Ponds........

  3. Oh, I love that turtle. I could be on that bridge watching, too. Reminds me of an area of New Jersey called the Pine Barrens - similar lovely woody, wet scenes.

  5. ODE TO WATER

    Water seekers cannot get
    Too much moisture, too much wet;
    Though they seek both far and wide,
    They will not be satisfied
    Till their eyes behold a place
    Filled with water, every space;
    Lovely stuff, that H2O—
    Water, water let it flow!

  9. Good Morning Annie Sweetie...
    My Deear Husband is Veteran and he was in the Marines. He just told me on the way to park n ride this morning that today was the Marine Corps birthday and wanted a salute in it's honor. I love it that you mentioned it today. I will have to tell him.

    Thank you so much for taking me on this glorious stroll this morning. Oh my what a beautiful pond. I love all the trees and the calmness and serene that I see in each photo. It is a place for reflection of one's self. A beautiful place indeed. I Love the little turtle that you caught as his peacefully passed by.

    Annie my favorite photo is the sunlight you caught as it tried to catch a glimpse of this beauty as well. Oh thank you so much for sharing with me. I have so enjoyed my visit today. I love taking these strolls with you and Bud.

    Have a beautiful weekend. Moma is coming on Monday. She hasn't been out here for 9 years. I will have her for one glorious week, so I may not be posting as faithfully.

    Many hugs and SO much love, Sherry

  14. I often forget about the many gems of nature scattered around Texas. Having once driven across it to get to Florida my primary vision remains one of unrelenting monotony.
