For a few days I've stayed home and got some menial jobs done around the house. One was nothing earth shattering, but it took most of the morning. And since I go walking in the morning only, I didn't that day. The job of work was to clean, wax, dust, and arrange the entertainment center. One side of the shelving unit has our collection of DVD [and even some old VHS!!]. When using them, they never get put back in the original slot. So, I wanted to take them all out [100s] and dust the shelves, then arrange them alphabetically. By the way, you may wonder why we still have VHS in our collection...we have a DVD/VHS player, and some of our favorite movies have never made it to DVD. So, they stay here with us. Then, on the other side of the unit are four more shelves. There I have cassettes, CDs, and even vinyls -33 rpm and 45s-. Yep we have a record player, CD, and cassette player all in one. The collection of vinyls go back to the history of JAZZ, Elvis, Righteous Bros, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, Herb Alpert, and many classical compositions. I even have a collection of Winston Churchill speeches in several volumes on 33rpm.
Now that you know the background of this post somewhat, the reason there is nothing much, I am sharing a few eclectic photos with you 'cause I have nothing better to share at the moment. I haven't gone walking 'cause the heat index has been hitting the 110° mark. If I do go anywhere, it's all in the Air Conditioned Car...

I brought my lens-ball in from the car to clean and took a couple photos of a couple of my glass dolphins.
And Isaiah being somewhat of a mechanic. He thought the tire was a bit low and tried showing me that they needed inflating a bit so he could crawl under the chassis and check out the drive train for me.

oh my, i am exhausted just reading about the job you did. that is one huge collection and you will always have something to do. you can watch and listen or clean, ha ha.. kisses to Isaiah and that is one tiny troll.

DeleteUp until a few months ago I still had vhs tapes. Unfortunately they had gotten shoved into a crawl space and ended up ruined. That's quite nice of Isaiah to do that work for you :)

ReplyDeleteOMG, Anni, I did too for the longest time. However, several years ago when I was planning on moving to NYC, I decided to get rid of them (the tapes and the player) because I wanted as little as possible to pack for the move. My VHS collection was primarily old black and white films and several I Love Lucy seasons. It was a very hard decision for me because like you said, many of them never made it to DVD.
Great photos! I love the one you captured of the helicopter. AWESOME shot!!!! And the one of Isaiah is so CUTE! Don't you just love cats?

I never would have imagined a helicopter being involved in power line work! Looks dangerous to me. You have an impressive collection of sound and visual items and the means to use them Good for you for keeping it all.

DeleteOur heat index has been about the same here. As of Thursday I've had to start keeping all the blinds closed. I hate being in a dark house, but it does help to keep our AC from running nonstop. I love all of your this and that photos, especially the one of Isaiah. Adorable little tiny Troll too. :)
ReplyDeleteOur blinds are off white, so they mostly only block the direct sun without too much darkness. More help than none is that the house is situated on an angle ... That too helps in summertime heat exposure.
DeleteHoly toledo... fixing wires by helicopter. WOW!!! And I've got the same collection of DVDs and VHS tapes. *gawd* They're in a huge (HUGE) cabinet and I never open the thing!!!! It's time for me to dump the whole lot of them (including the cabinet) at Goodwill, if ya ask me. At least you're getting use out of yours. Your little troll reminds me of some troll earrings I have for halloween. They really are cute and I used to wear them all the time, for the grandgirls when they were little. ~Andrea xoxoxo

DeleteI have a built in entertainment center and it's time consuming to clean but so worth it because it looks so nice afterwards. I've never seen or thought of lines being fixed by a guy perched on a helicopter!

I have been so naughty about housekeeping this past week. I just keep doing crafts instead of cleaning. Our palms here have come back out a bit, too. The cold snap just murdilated them (new combo word!) and not all made it. The drought ain't helping. I wanted to ask, what is the lens ball for? Is it a decoration?

It hit 102F yesterday and its suppose to be the same today and then go up from there again..So scary for our drought and wildfire situation..Dry lightening has started a few too many for my peace of mind.
