...Bud doesn't like Anni and her version of dominoes! There's a reason behind it all...
The carpeting throughout the house is a deep dark, turquoise blue. For me, I do not like walls that are as sterile, hospital anti-septic, white throughout a home. White, like a mundane office building or the modernity of today...I want COLOR!! Most of the walls here at Anni's Abode, with an open floor plan, are painted the exact color of the carpeting. The master bed and bathroom however are a light lime green [through my computer, the walls look pea green, but they ARE lime green]. Still, it has the blue carpeting. I have looked online over the past several years for color coordinated bedding, Amazon, Home Goods, Kohls, Target, Macy's, Wayfair, etc. and oh so much more! I've even walked the aisles of stores in town, physically. Years of effort and disappointment. Years of looking for the color combination was a huge undertaking. Still, Nada, Zilch, Nien, nothing. Even Walmart!! And, I detest that store for the most part. Recently, one day, however, for some unknown reason, I stopped at Walmart, I got what I was after in my cart, and went up the bedding aisle. Lo and Behold...Dark Blue, lime green, and floral! Just what I wanted all along. I needed a KING. Did they have one? Yes!! I was nearly in tears...seriously. The colors I need without having to repaint walls, etc. Happy Camper. Bought it! Sold separately were two pillow shams that match also. Yay. Got it home, gladly tore the yucky bedding off the bed and opened the quilt and shams. Made the bed. It just matched the carpet and walls perfectly. Walmart came through for me. Did I say I was elated?!! Oh oh...something was missing tho. More color coordination! Throw pillows...yep, throw pillows. Off I go shopping. Target, Home Goods, Walmart, Kohls, Steinmart, TJ Maxx, Marshalls etc. Found two dark blue at Home Goods. No red. No green. At those stores. Went to other establishments...nothing. The last stop, AT HOME -warehouse- and found the colors I wanted. Spent way too much just for one bed. Bud hates the domino effect when Anni leaves home with her debit card!!

Though I am a big shopper, I have never heard of At Home. I like it, and they are fairly reasonable. We had all white walls for many years, until I realized how bad it looked. Thanks so much for I.D.ing my cormorant, that was a wonderful surprise! I had guessed double breasted, but was not sure enough to say so. Glad I didn't, because I would have been wrong. It is a juvelille as well I think.
ReplyDeleteBoth cormorants are very similar. It's easy to confuse one from the other.
DeleteP.S. Love your header! I don't know how you got around the new blogger rules!
ReplyDeleteI will see if I can write up a blog on how to get around the no header for blogger.
DeleteHello Anni,
ReplyDeleteI love your header and the Crane. I am not much of a shopper, but I do like to match up colors with clothes and around the house. Take care, have a great new week!
Martha Stewart tells us electric is the new "in" for home decor these days. But, I too like to match colors.
DeleteI love it when you finally find the perfect thing you're looking for. I'm with you on Walmart though. The only problem for me is that there aren't many options unless I want to travel further.
ReplyDeleteWe have four Walmarts within 6 miles from our house. Rarely do I shop at any. I'd rather go the extra mile to other stores.
DeleteSo happy that you were able to find what you were looking for! Isn't that the best feeling ever? Thanks for sharing the link to AT HOME because I had never heard it!?! I checked out the website and discovered that the closest one is in Cherry Hill, NJ. I may have to go because I saw quite a few things I liked on their website. Good prices too!
ReplyDeleteHave a Monday week, Anni!
I like going there to shop because of the seasonal items...Halloween & Christmas. 🎃😊🎄
DeleteI'm so glad you found exactly what you were looking for - and Walmart of all places! It sure looks great Anni. I don't like Walmart either. Today's Troll is adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteYa, that store...even if I lived next door, I'd go anywhere else first. But this time, they had me eating crow
DeleteI'm having a similar problem, finding perfect bedding and striking out. But I just cannot bring myself to go to Walmart. I'd forgotten about At Home, though, and there's one quite close to me. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteThey have a great selection of bedding at At Home. Check the link!!
DeleteSo glad you found just what you were looking for. As for Walmart, that is about our only choice here in tiny town. I did check out At Home but the nearest one is a 5 hour round trip. Guess it will remain a mystery to me.
ReplyDeleteI just can't get myself to shop there unless it's convenient. Especially groceries. Our local Texas chain has cheaper & better quality.
DeleteAlthough I have NO choice for wall color, I have accents of red all around. I love most colors except purple. Your bedding is unusually bright and I'm sure it will give you satisfaction, no matter where you bought it!
ReplyDeleteI like g
DeleteBright, bold colors. And LOVE purple.
That is a beautiful bedspread! WalMart doesn't have a huge selection of stuff but I often find exactly what I am looking for there! Not a huge fan but you can't beat the price on somethings!
ReplyDeleteI find it just the opposite here. Prices are higher at Walmart.
DeleteI love it, I even like the lime green walls and this is perfect! i do the domino but it is all online, except for I LOVE WALMART, my favorite of all STORES. the kind I can walk in. the online stores are Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot. my problem is I hate shopping. I want everything in one place, you went in more stores in a few days than i have been in for the last 10 years. you did a great job finding just the right. I hate white walls also. but Bob hates color, 32 years of white walls in this house. I do have color walls in both bathrroms
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe I found it at Walmart of all places.
DeleteWIN!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWIN!!!!!!!!!
We love to surround ourselves with colors, with which we resonate.
And I happen to love the lighter background here. The pretty grey pattern..
✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨
Thanks
DeleteYou're an artist and know your colors..What a super find...glad you finally made all the connections you needed.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that the way with most things ....domino effect?
Look for something and end up cleaning closets and drawers....
Love your trolls
Sue
Ya, there's always something that affects a previous job of work.
DeleteI need to check out "At Home"! I love shopping for the house! I always had white walls because I liked to stencil on them. Here, all of the walls are tan and it looks so much warmer.
ReplyDeleteAnd tan is a neutral color, you can change accents & it will still work!
DeleteOooooooh, how beautiful, Anni!! That bedspread is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations on finally finding one, with such beautiful accessories too!! ~Andrea xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea.
DeleteYour story evokes the observations that I have noticed when it comes to colors in my home and clothing. It's ironic how much burgundy and wineberry have emerged as a color in many possessions, including an Adirondack chair that I made. Another color is sage green. None of it was intentional either. : - )
ReplyDeleteI bet they accentuate each other!!
DeleteWOW!! Stunning colours. Years ago when we built this house I chose red carpet for the master bedroom and a bedspread that was black with big red roses all over it. I loved it. After 30 years we changed all our floors to either wood or laminate and the red carpet had to go.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I bet that was pretty tho!!
DeleteYou commented on my blog: "As for whites...I use detergent with added bleach IN the container."
ReplyDeleteWhich detergent please?
And thank you, for answering my question!!!!!!!!!!!!
✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨💛✨
Replied in your blog.
DeleteI'm so glad you found what you were looking for. 😊❤️
ReplyDeleteIt took too long, but yes...finally!
DeleteDon't you just love it when it all comes together like that!! Doesn't always happen!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
DeleteI think that's a great Domino Effect! It's beautiful. We have an At Home near us and I've found some good stuff there too.
ReplyDeleteA great store for everything in and out of home.
DeleteI’m glad you got the bedding you love and the matching pillows.
ReplyDeleteAnother Thanksgiving troll! Yes!!! And such good luck shopping, too, although your hubby might not think it lucky for the bank balance, ha ha. I had a house with deepest green carpeting. It might sound strange but it was really gorgeous. Any jewel tone set it off beautifully. So glad you got your bedding just as you have wished so long.
ReplyDeleteMmmm, I bet that carpeting was gorgeous.
DeleteSuch good luck at last.. Roger would just be glad to not have to.lusten to my frustration at not finding what I need/want.
ReplyDeleteBud ignores me when I talk...period. lol
DeleteIt's so nice when things do come together :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
