Once again, since I've been staying home for the most part to stay out of the heat and getting caught in heavy rainstorms most mornings recently, I have made do with playing on the phone [a jigsaw puzzle app], watering plants on the patio, reading, and drawing some. The other day when I was out checking my flower crops, I noticed the incredible clouds that were storm clouds brewing...the higher up in the sky they go, the more moisture will fall...somewhere! I had my cellphone in my pocket so I snapped some photos. Also, once again, I took photos of some flowers blooming in the yard [and bushes]. When I got back indoors I thought I'd attempt getting a very short video of the newest 'gift' I bought for our daughter, Irene. She collects pigs [she has a hutch in her home filled with pigs, pigs, pigs!] This one I couldn't resist. In fact, I've been tempted to keep it for myself...but, I won't. I have enough collections going as it is!! Need to get it to UPS so they can package it and ship it to her!! In the meantime...this is just a few seconds long:
The morning sky:

Recently, after I uploaded and installed a new puzzle app on my phone...when it starts to get too hot outdoors, I come in to cool down and I usually end up reading my book [a new one I found on Olivia de Havilland -Melanie on Gone With the Wind from 1939] She recently passed away at the age of 104. Speaking of collections, I have tried to find over the last 30 years or so, biographies on all the main characters from that movie...I have Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Hattie McDaniels, and have been searching for a couple of good ones...one on Olivia and another on Leslie Howard [Ashley]. I finally found Olivia's Biography-Autobiography published just after her death. It's a good book. Full of Hollywood gossip and tidbits of her early acting career at the age of 16.
Okay, where was I? Oh ya, puzzles. Our puzzle table was torn down and stored for when Erik came to Corpus in May. We probably won't put it back up in the library until all our yard work is done. So, with this app I can get my 'puzzle fix' and I can choose the grade of difficulty. I choose 275 pieces. It's a VERY GOOD app. Many, MANY free puzzles to choose. Altho, it eats up a lot of battery! Maybe 3 to 4 puzzles before the phone's battery is near exhausted. Here are screenshots from the phone's app...

To close off for the day, I have to mention that we decided to do some electrical work ourselves. Luckily Bud did this kinda stuff in the Navy aboard ship. But, that was 60 some years ago!! Give or take a few years. A lot has changed. Arthritic hands and knees, eyesight not so good, etc. etc. But, we conquered the job and saved ourselves over $300. We [mostly Bud] tore our fluorescent kitchen light apart and replaced the ballast behind the bulb casing!!! An hour's job for a professional electrician, it took us 3 hours of up and down the ladder, trips to Lowes in the rainstorms, sore neck breaks often...etc. etc. But, it's now done. I haven't put the light fixture's cover back on yet as I need to get back to Lowes for a new light tube. One's very weak and needs replaced before I put the cover up...why put it all together when another job will come all too quickly!!...and to continue showcasing my Trolls...

Holiday Themed Mr. and Mrs. Christmas LARGE Soft Scuplture circa: 80s? |

The video did load and that pig is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't have an app on my phone for puzzles but I do them on the computer. It's not quite the same as the real thing but they're fun to do.
I probably should install a puzzle app on my laptop too!!
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th of July weekend!
The pig is so cute! Love the sky shots and the pretty flowers. The Christmas trolls are cute too. I have a big coffee table that hubby and I use for our puzzles, my phone can not hold many apps. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Our puzzle table is huge (fills up half a room), but it's collapsible which is a good thing. Happy 4th to you too, Eileen.
DeleteThat pig is so cute! I can see why you almost want to keep it for yourself. beautiful sky and flower shots Anni. Glad you two were able to get the electrical work done yourselves. Happy reading and puzzle time, have a great 4th of July weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteMany years ago the electrical work woulda been a snap. Now-a-days, not so much!
DeleteA pig is adorable! And yes it did Bobble and bottled well! Your flowers are gorgeous patrols are adorable. And I'm truly impressed that you can do that many puzzles. One of the online puzzles that takes the normal person 15 minutes takes me an hour or two and I highly impressed on the electrical job we need that same thing done in our kitchen
ReplyDeleteI like this app because you can choose the piece numbers for less OR more challenge.
DeleteGreat DIY project for Bud. Handy hubbies are so valuable.
ReplyDeleteLove the pig. It is great when people are collectors. It makes it so easy to buy for them.
I do puzzles on my laptop but can't imagine doing 275 pieces on a small screen.
It really isn't that bad. Smaller, yes, but still it's something to work the brain and keep hands from being idle.😊
DeleteThe sky photos took my breath away! Crepe Myrtle? Sweet piggy! I have a florescent light over my stove that has black spots on each end and takes a long time to light up. Sure hope it's not the ballast and just the tube. I have a spare tube - just need a tall handy man.
ReplyDelete...and they can be "tricky" to replace!
DeleteLove all your gorgeous flowers in your garden. Makes me happy just looking at them.
ReplyDeleteTotally cute piggy..I just can't get into collecting any new items. What we have is pushing us out of our home..to top it off, yesterday a friend of ours came over and brought 10 boxes full to the brim of Hallmark ornaments. We are going to split the profit 50/50 when they sell on eBay...I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't have agreed to that split since I am doing all the work from research, photographing selling, packaging and shipping. Once upon a time Hallmark ornaments were quite valuable, no they sell for about half of the original price..gotta do some thinking about this. Besides now my family room is a mess.. sorry for whining but sometimes things are a bit overwhelming to say the least.
Sue
I understand completely!! Yes, you need a larger cut in profit...you do all the work! Not fair.
DeleteWhat a cute little piggie and your sky shots and flowers are just beautiful, Anni!
ReplyDeleteThanks M&M
DeleteIt didn't load or I don't know how to use it. But it is very cute! Just make sure you pass it on!
ReplyDeleteA lot of collecting! I don't collect so I can't relate, though many do!
Happy 4th of July

It just is, more or less, a 🐖 that bobbles. (Click on arrow)...runs about 3 seconds only.
DeleteThe bobblehead pig is cute! We had to have electricians when we replaced ourkitchen ballast. You two did good! The puzzle applooks like it has really good puzzles! Your flowers are always so pretty...I bet you could charge people to tour your yard!
ReplyDeleteIt does have some pretty good puzzles!
DeleteSuch beautiful pictures, Anni, and the video of the bobbler is sooooo darling! I know Irene will love it... especially because you bought it for her. I remember those soft-sculpted trolls now, since seeing your picture. I had forgotten about them. Mine is long gone. :-( ~Andrea xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI know she'll like it!!
DeleteThat little pig was so cute in the video (which did load for me). I would have fun watching him (or perhaps her?)
ReplyDeleteI had wondered about puzzle apps as I like to do jigsaw puzzles but really don't have any place to keep a table up during the process of making one. I'll have to look into them. Sounds like a good way to spend the day and I do think things like that, word searches, crossword puzzles etc are good for our brains :)
What fun looking trolls! I remember when they were popular when I was growing up and I think they keep going in and out of popularity over the years :)
betty
It was nice of you to stop by& say hello Betty!
DeleteStay cool. I do jigsaw puzzles on my iPad, but find the phone a little too small for my liking.
ReplyDeleteThat'll work!
DeleteI would guess she was last Gone with wind charter that past.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
There are a few uncredited child actors still alive.
DeleteGood job doing the electrical work yourselves and saving a lot of money. Cute piggy!! Your daughter is certain to love it.
ReplyDeleteShe will!
DeleteThat is a cute pig and I know Irene will like it. Cute troll too. :)
ReplyDeleteHooray oor saving money too!
I know she'll giggle with delight!
DeleteCute pig and it did bobble for me. :)
ReplyDeletePretty blue and white skies.
Handy have a husband to do electrical work - I have one too.
It saves money. lol
DeleteI love the bobblin' piggie! So cute, who thinks up these things? What a lovely job that would be! Your flowers are so pretty and I am impressed at your electrical skills. You guys did great! Those clouds you snapped -- they are filled with rain and power, it looks like. Big ol' clouds! The funny thing is, we had THE SAME TYPE OF CLOUDS here yesterday. I kept looking at them, and commenting to my husband about them. I called the "castle" clouds and "rook" clouds and "crenalated" clouds because they were so peculiar.
ReplyDeleteI like "castle clouds"!
DeleteWhen you own a home, there's always plenty of rainy day work you can do. That's why home improvement stores do such a great business, I guess. Multiple trips for the same project are a rule, judging by things around here, too.
ReplyDeleteI hate having to go back if something doesn't fit, tho!
DeleteBeautiful cloud pictures! I love the puzzle app on my phone. I used to use it to destress at work a lot! My husband and I try to DIY everything we can in our house, but yes, I agree. Getting older makes it tougher!
ReplyDeleteWe do too, if possible

Happy 4th of July to you too!
DeleteI am glad you have found a way to get your puzzle fix. And I was able to watch the pig bobble! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome.
Deletehappy 4th
ReplyDeleteYou too Jel!
DeleteThat bobble head pig is so darned cute. Your flowers are pretty and so are those skies. I do puzzles on my iPad, I have always loved the regular ones too but do them online now. I bet those biographies are very interesting. Having fun looking at your troll collection. Well, guess what? We have our light fixture in the kitchen that looks like yours, except we haven’t been able to fix it. We are going to have to get a professional in that knows what he is doing, because we sure as heck don’t :) Have a great week Anni.
ReplyDeleteIt seems a LOT of bloggers are having the same lighting problem!!
DeleteYou KNOW those sky shots are totally beautiful! Such an awesome universe we live in. And your kitchen light...we have the same thing and needing to do the same thing but putting it off and putting it off....you know. Adorable pig. I have a pig-casso piggy bank, complete with Picasso colors and a little artist hat.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see the pig sometime!!
Deletehappy to send you a pic if you tell me where to send it. My email is mycawbites@aol.com I looked on line and at the picasso museum gift shop but couldnt find one. Husband got it for me at an estate sale some time ago.
DeleteThanks!!
DeleteAwesome pictures of the sky.
ReplyDeleteI love doing jigsaw puzzles and always have one going on my puzzle table, but have never tried doing one on my phone or computer. Can you see all the pieces on the screen?
Yes, you can see them..they are at the bottom of the puzzle itself, and you scroll across to find the one you want!
