Test Your Vision....

I'll begin this blog with a cute critter seen at West Guth Park recently. I haven't seen many of them here of late, and I thought maybe the city eradicated them. But, while watching the Monk Parakeets in the neighboring palm trees, I spotted one peering out of its burrow!! They're cute. Probably destroying the landscaping of the park grounds, but still, they are entertaining to say the least. They are the Mexican Ground Squirrel, a native to Old Mexico, and only seen in the state of Texas in the United States...

Keeping in line of critters...

Can you see the Angry Bunny in this upside down cat photo?*

  1. I DO see the face! These critters are so cute! They look like Prairie Dogs. They had Prairie Dogs at a zoo a few years ago, and they transfixed me. I could have watched them all day. And these would be very similar to watch. Guess I never heard of them because they are only in Texas. What a wonderful find!!

  6. Definitely see the Angry Bunny.
We used to summer vacation at a lake in Wisconsin when I was a child. My grandfather and I used to see a very similar looking critter in the fields when we would go on our walks.
Thank you for bringing back a lovely memory of my Papa and I. He and I were always together.
Have a lovely day Anni ☕🍂🍁🎃👻

  7. Funny angry bunny face! LOL. And the ground squirrel reminds me of a chipmunk. We don't have chipmunks here in Florida, but I've seen them up north. We have plenty of squirrels, just not the ground kind. They are fun to watch, but I don't want them in my bird feeder! LOL.

  9. I had never heard of those squirrels. And they are cute! Actually, the upside down face was the most prominent one. I had to turn my computer screen upside down to see the other one.

  10. They don't know how old he is. I was told somewhere around 6. We think he might be a little older than that and when we take him to the vet on Tuesday we'll ask him what his opinion is. He's considered a senior dog and that's what we wanted and he has fit into our home like a hand in a glove

    1. You two are angels. So many senior dogs are over-looked and need the loving as small pups do...in fact, I think more so.

  12. The ground squirrel is really cute and if he is anything like a chipmunk, they can be destructive but lucky for those I see, cute out weighs damage.
Yep, I saw the angry bunny. Cute photo.

    1. ...angry rabbits WILL lay their ears flat (or when trying to hide). If so, beware of their back legs...they are lethal)

  14. How special to see the Mexican Ground Squirrel! It reminds me of a chipmunk.
I guess I am below average on imagination - no matter which way I look at it, it's a cat!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  16. HaHa...love that "Bunny Face"..too cute.
Squirrels are fun to watch but I don't like what they do to my yard and how they destroyed my chair cushion. They wanted the insides of the cushion for their nest..What a mess.

  17. Up on the land we have a lot of ground squirrels, but few tree squirrels...too few trees! I love the angry bunny.

  23. I really wonder how long those squirrels will stay in Texas...LOL Maybe they won't spread any farther because of the climate.
