I've been a bit stressed and anxious the past week. Gloom and poor attitude has kinda taken over somewhat. I'm trying to look for a silver lining, but the sparkle hasn't been found yet. Seeing the cardiologist the other day was just fair. I expected the appointment to entail options. He, just as I anticipated, said that my best option would be a 2nd ablation [had one in 2008, and they told me there was a high possiblity of another one needed in the future]. I am concerned that a 2nd one would slow the electric function of my heart rate to be TOO slow....he tried to assure me that 99% of the time, this would be the final one...."if it's too slow, then a pacemaker is needed". Ya, am I part of the 99% success or am I the 1% that ends up with a heart rate so slow, the blood doesn't flow properly? He then advised me to have a chemical stress test....well, after the appointment; once I was home and relaxed a little...I did some online research....The next morning, I called and CANCELED the stress test. Why? Because it was the VERY SAME thing I experienced with my ER visit...rapid heart rate and then the drug induced to slow the rate back to normal. Trust me, you NEVER want to experience that drug! Lea? You were spot on with the drug!!! It's like you've been hit by a ton of bricks....then, you flat-line...then the heart beats regularly once again...It only takes about 5 seconds total...but it feels like an eternity!!!!!!! Then, X rays at ER....
Same with the chemical stress test...I told them, NO...my heart has had enough stress. Don't want more. It's taken me nearly a week to feel somewhat like myself again. Extreme tiredness, muscle aches, chest pain...you name it.
Getting outdoors for a while seems to be the only time I feel like myself.
Will have to brave it out, take a breather from it all, and then, work with the doctor and set up a scheduled time for an 2nd ablation. It's either that or live with the thought of another rapid heart beat over and over for the rest of my life. Just hope I'm one of the 99% success stories.
For now, I share a walk to Packery Channel at Sunrise with Bud this past week....

Sunrise on the Channel [with a boat going out to sea]...ground fog behind the dunes, and Bud on the Jetty,

We've had perfect Fall Weather!!! Cool nights, moderate daytime temps [70s] and clear, dry air!!! Finally. These show the colors on our walk!!! I loved how the pink ornamental grass [pink muhly] swayed and danced in the breeze.
Hopefully by this morning, I'll feel up to paying some visits to my blogging buddies!!! See you soon in a comment form near you.
I will pray for your ablation to be in the 99 percent. I have a friend who had it twice and she has been doing well since then.. agree with you on canceling the stress test. I know how much you love wandering outdoors and being cooped up in the good weather is stress also.. the foggy photo is amazing, and love the one of your hubby....
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra.
DeleteI hope your second ablation goes well and you are up and outside and feeling better very soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteI'm so sorry things have been so stressful for you. All your blogging buds are here to cheer you on and pray that your second ablation puts you in the 99% group. From what you described of the chemical stress test I would have cancelled it too. That sounds scary.
ReplyDeleteIt IS scary.
DeleteHello Anni, I hope goes well and your are in the 99% group. Sending you well wishes, take care. Have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Eileen.
DeleteI am really sorry that you are going through all of this. Last year I went through this with my cousin. It was very hard for her and she is still a bit on the depressed side.
ReplyDeleteHang in there!
Thanks MB
DeleteAnni thank you for the update. I sure can understand your ups and downs this passed week. I hope Isaiah is giving you some purring therapy. Your sunrise was glorious I agree being out in nature relaxes mind soul and body. Take care and hugs all around
ReplyDeleteCecilia
Isaiah is there for me! Thanks
DeleteI'm glad you canceled that stress test. It sounds typical of doctors wanting all that information and not really care much how the patient deals with it. And you will be fine, I predict, with that second ablation. (not that I'm much good at prediction, but the odds are on your side)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what Bud said...typical doctors.
DeleteSending my prayers, love and positive vibes.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
DeleteOh, I am so sorry! I do think you made the right decision. Be assured I will be praying for the ablation to get well. I had the drug stress test in June. I had a bad reaction, felt like I was dying. They had to give me the reversal. So I can sure understand your reasons!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny. ...so kind.
DeleteI can relate to your issues. My husband went through this for years. They would not operate as he would not survivor it. He had a pace maker and medicine to try to control his heart rate. After awhile that did not work. I truly understand and wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you added your experience LV...thanks.
DeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteMy prayers are with you
Thank you Lea.
DeleteI'm sorry you've been feeling crummy. I don't blame you for not wanting another stress test!
ReplyDeleteI think you are part of the 99%!
PS - nice photos, especially the one of Bud.
Thanks! This means a lot!
DeleteYou are on the family prayer list. I cancelled the chemical stress test several years ago after reading about how it felt. I did the old fashioned treadmill.
ReplyDeleteI know you are going to be in the 99%.
Thanks...I feel your positive vibes.
DeleteSorry to hear of your serious concerns. Gotta go with your gut though, and the ablation (THINK POSITIVE ALWAYS) should do the trick. Your get up and go will return!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right
