Got a good reason For taking the easy way out

May Day....May Day

Random Thoughts

Wouldn't it be great if we could put ourselves in the dryer for ten minutes; come out wrinkle-free and three sizes smaller?

I don't trip over things, I do random gravity checks!

I don't have gray hair. I have "wisdom highlights". [and by the looks of things...I'm just very wise.!]

When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why do I have to press one for English when you're just gonna transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?

Snow in Late April?
Yep, that's Colorado!

One of the many reasons [probably the MAIN reason] we retired to Texas is for the fact snow can fall in Colorado, where I lived for nearly 50 years [Bud is a native Coloradoan], in July.  We both, the older we got, got so tired of SNOW. Well, last week, it snowed, and a very heavy WET snow and Denver and cities farther south, were under a winter snow warning. DIA [Denver International Airport] was bogged down, interstates and highways were closed...it was a typical April day in the state. My sister, who lives on the Western Slope of the Rockies, texted me a photo of her yard and she told me the San Juan Mountain Range had been socked in for days!!  You can see the beautiful jagged peaks of the San Juan Range from her patio door.

...and here in Corpus Christi, while all that was happening to those in my 'home' state... it was boiling at a high of mid 90s.

Same day...different states
Colorado Spring Storm, Texas Sunshine!

Kinda Like Ripley's Believe it or Not
aka - You Never Know What'll Wash Ashore!

...I'm glad there wasn't a head attached. I'd still be runnin' for the hill country. Not that I'd be guilty of any wrongful act...just not too thrilled seeing anything as terrifying as my first thought about heads. Instead of Ripley's reference, maybe I shoulda stuck with something like the Twilight Zone Theme.  No glowing, red eyes, I checked closely!!!!  Twice.

  1. I lived in Colorado for forty years and sure saw my share of spring snow. Once I was hiking in the mountains over the Fourth of July and we got 3 feet of snow!! I love your mellow yellow but not so much the spooky head. :-)

    1. Boulder, right? I think you told me once, long ago. We lived in the foothills northwest of Denver. And yes, I remember a picnic on the 4th of July, eating with the snow falling!!

    1. I guess it's expected in such climate zones. Around here, it's warming too quickly. We had absolutely NO winter to write home about this year.

  3. Goodness so many good things in this post. Your opening quotes are perfect, especially the we the people one. Really wondering about winter too, it's coming back with a force worse than I like too! April had one job- spring and now it's May first. Goodness, what's happening?! I always like finding those odd things that wash to shore and is that helmet of some kind? Interesting as always, enjoy your week!

  4. OMG if it was in the gulf I would have thought Mexico Cartel-beheaded- or biker down in the water and no one knows. most probably it was on the beach and the waves came in and stole it, but I read way to much...
I am with you on the sunshine thing... a New Mexico blogger posted her yard today covered in snow. the biggest one all year. yowsa... even with drought I prefer dry and sunny. LOVE the yellow flowers, the color of JOY to me... gots lots of chuckles from your first few lines. even on the last one, heh heh heh

  5. I love your one liner jokes!!! My very favorite is the last one, because it always happens to US. I can't wait to tell Phil this one! Happy Birthday Bud! I hope you had a great one! I had no idea about Colorado! I guess that's why there is always so much skiing. Yes, that helmet is creepy! And of course I have to think of a lone Easy Rider speeding into the river at sunset. Never to return. But his helmet lives on. Cue the Twilight Zone music and call Rod Serling...

    1. Here too, and it's so frustrating not being able to understand their broken English. Yep, skiing is a huge industry in that state. I never thought of Easy Rider...good one Ginny.

  6. OMW to the helmet if it had head attached. It makes an interesting photo op, though. I don't know snow although we're close to mountains which will be covered in snow come June/July. But to wade through it or have it surround my house - Uh-oh. No thanks. Have a great day. Jo

    1. Exactly...none for me either. Had my fill of that white stuff [and driving in it with all the other idiots on the icy roads].

  7. Haha! A fun post! Happy Belated to Bud! Yea, snow in May is not any fun. We are getting endless gloomy rain here in WA state and fresh snow in the mountains. I can't deal with heat, though, so the coolness suits me fine. There's a joke around here that we don't tan, we rust :) You must see some strange things washed up on shore! Glad it was headless! Yikes! xx Karen

  11. I grew up in the mountains and I love them but I hate snow and ice. Give me the warmth and the sun.

    That helmet is freak!!

    1. Definitely on the weird freak-0-meter!! Yep, I like the Rockies, but hey...snow is snow and ice is ice...right? If we don't have to live in such an area for our livelihood, I'd prefer heat myself.

  12. I remember hearing about that snow storm in Colorado. Got a friend living there and he's always talking about that one last winter snowstorm in spring. Make that late spring. We're pretty warm here too. Not as warm as you, but we're getting there.

I love all the random thoughts. I can relate to all of them.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺

  14. That's a strange thing to find washed up. Despite our April and May snow, I love the Colorado climate with our year-round sunshine. I'm just not a hot-weather guy, although there are times I wish I lived near a beach!

  16. Dry as a bone here in SW Florida. No rain for months. Maybe a shower or two next couple of days. Loved the snow scene... I miss the Spring...getting time to saddle up and ride out for a spell and get out of this heat. Over 90 again.

    1. I know what that is....I think we're heading in that direction here also...hot and has been dry for a couple weeks. Same pattern as the last 5 years or so.

  17. The snow looks so pretty but I'm sure I would get tired of it too. As kids we used to run from shade tree to shade tree in the sand barefoot. Loved the summer in south Texas but the older I get the harder it is to deal with.

  20. I'll take sunshine and hot (even humid hot) over snow and ice and rain and gray skies. Colorado is beautiful ..we have kids there and visit often the weather is so changeable, though , I think it would drive me crazy.

    1. Me too....and I agree with you, after having such mild pleasant [tho humidity is high some of the time] I'll take the sunshine and heat over snow and ice.
