Odds & Ends...

...literally!!

Sometimes, I really really wonder just why I photographed something....being that it's an odd subject. Like these two that follow. The odd ones. The first one, it's an old, abandoned in the bay, boat. Of course, occasionally, I see birds perching on the dilapidated and rotting wood craft, like it was meant to be there, for them. I really find it odd that it's not been removed from the water after all this time!! Then, the 2nd image of an old rusted spike: why did I take time to snap a photo of it? Don't ask me. Maybe 'cause I thought it uniquely attractive in composition?!! By golly, I think I hit the nail on the head!!!

Then, these. At least I can figure out the whys here! Two cute rear ends!!! Yet, the first one could probably also be considered an oddity! At least for MY generation. No? Yep, you're right, showing off the underwear and the exposing is part of the age-old style of teens. Typical. BUTT, cute. At least the 'feathered' one of a Wilson's Plover in this case.

Next...Why were these two photos saved? I thought both were prime real estate for blogville 'oddville'. One, the speed limit. I guess by limiting the speed, you won't drive your vehicle off into the ship channel, giving the slow pace, you have time to stop before hitting the water? Or perhaps 15MPH was posted for the gulls, to slow down and use caution...human crossing? [Lydia Ann Lighthouse in the background by the way] The other photo which is part of a line of an old pier that has seen its better days? That's obvious, don't you think?  Yet, on the other hand, I see some kind of strange alien creature with seaweed hair, two 'odd' ears and pox marks for the mouth, a bird's beak, and two vacant, grimy, slimy eye sockets? Awwww, come on, you can see I'm right on this one!!!

Happy Trails To You!! Or think of it this way....one of my favorite works of art of the Old West theme is one done by James Earle Fraser entitled "The End of the Trail" [c. 1890s]. I've attempted to paint it years ago, my mother even had my painting framed and hanging in the living room. Of course my painting was amateurish compared to the 'real thing'. And, after my parents died, I have no idea what happened to it. Still, it remains a favorite piece of art for me...not my painting, but the original work of art. So, to commemorate the subject, with a bit of a twist, I share these two images of the "End of the Trail".  A fence lined hiking trail for Good Fences...

One of the photos in this following group, I have it figured out! The reason I took it. Other than there being another fence for Ms. T's Good Fences, they were playing a round of golf that I always enjoyed playing when long ago, we DID play a round or two...called, ironically, ODDS and  ends evens. The way it's played is with doubles [a couple]. In Odds and Evens, one player hits the tee shot on even holes, the other hits the tee shots on odd holes; simple. The next photo is really odd. Why I took this photo is an oddity in itself...highway stanchions crossing the North Bay Shore. Maybe I was in dire need of being odd that day...I do know I've been known as the odd ball.

Let's face it...I'm a sucker for photographing the likes of this action! Aren't these cute? Oh ya, and after seeing this odd couple I end it all with the conclustion of flight #END2014 --- photo taken at NAS CC Station along Ocean Drive near the base entrance where the Navy has flight training ---and historical value here - our President George H W Bush qualified during WWII as a pilot at NAS naval base. From wikipedia: "Former President George H.W. Bush was in the third graduating class, June 1943, and the youngest pilot ever to graduate. NAS Corpus Christi".
