“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

Updates...

I'm hoping today or for sure first thing tomorrow morning, for a while, I can sit down at the computer and stop by to visit some of you!! It seems like eons since I've been online for any length of time. For now, just to get away from the gloom and doom of the past week, I'm gonna share a bit of color...from my window!!

Yesterday, the sun was bright and shiny! Unlike this morning...it's yucky again!! But, when I woke up from my nap, I was nearly blinded with all the bright!! It's been nearly two weeks since the sun has broken through the heavy cloud cover. The other day, the county and surrounding counties were under severe flood watch...altho, I don't think anything drastic happened. The creek that is nearby, it was NEARLY out of its banks...but quickly subsided when the sun came out from behind the gray, heavy clouds. For that, I am thankful. With weather, it seems that we go from one extreme [drought] to too much rain [flooding].

Even tho I stay home on any NORMAL day in March because of Spring Breakers, I read that the college revelers on South Padre Island are still taking a break and enjoying the beaches despite the rain and cold. Good for them. More power to them. Me? I'll stay home, away from all the hoopla. LOL Staying home and reading health literature and my novel, I am Abraham. Also, watching an HBO Series on John Adams. This series is making me want to read more on our 2nd president. Maybe someday. I'm not much on reading history, but if I can find something worthwhile, I may delve into it.

Bud took my Sister's Day Package to have it shipped to my sister for our 'private' celebration. That can be checked off my list of things to do for the month. Also, there is a birthday...got that card sent to our grandson. Stopping at Walmart from the Post Office, to get a few things, he came home with a cute little pair of earrings for me since I won't be doing my usual decorating. What a sweetie! I will get out something green and shamrocky now! LOL Also, I have to catch up on magazine subscriptions...I still have a couple. Both are Woman's Day. Of course, all the Easter ideas will get my attention.

Okay, color me outta here for the day. I'm gonna stretch out on the couch and watch another episode of John Adams and then figure out something healthy I can munch on. I think I am gonna have a big problem with food...changing my eating habits. Ewww. No more fries and cheeseburgers. Well, at least often. Maybe once every month. Can I do that?

  10. We enjoyed that John Adams series so much that we purchased the DVDs and have watched it again a few times. An amazing march through our early history! Abigail would have made a great President! I'm happy you are feeling better and getting back on the computer. Staying away from the spring breakers is smart...recovering or not!! Take care!

  12. What cute earrings. I have some shamrocks to wear on my ears, but I don't have much green. Why is it that there is no color associated with German decent?

  13. Can I come look out your window too? Continue feeling better... and allowing yourself the occasional treat with help you stick with your healthier eating patterns the rest of the time.

    Take care of you!

  15. Hi Annie, I was thinking of you on my walk and said a loving-kindness meditation for you. I looked for an e-mail address on your blog but can't see any. If you look on my blog's sidebar, I have "heart attack" in the labels and on the January 2014 post, I write about and give a link for the anti-inflammatory diet which might interest you. I think lifestyle changes are important after a heart attack, but everything in moderation - eat favorite foods occasionally that might not be on a heart-healthy diet, but don't do so daily. Having a heart problem is frightening and life-changing, but I can tell you that after rehab and time, you will feel much stronger and less fearful. Good Luck, Annie. Enjoy spring and those colorful blooms. Smell the flowers for me, will you?

  16. So thankful you are feeling like visiting. Spring or summer cannot get in Texas quick enough. I am not a cold weather person. It is hard to have limited activity, but hang in it will get better.

  19. Hi Anni. Long time, huh? Every once in a while you pop into my head. Today I was cleaning out bookmarks on my computer and saw one titled "blog". What the heck is this, I thought. Clicked it. Geeez there was my blog. Still. After all this time. And your immediately came to mind. What timing! You have just been through a horrible time with your heart attack. I'm so sorry to read that. I just cant imagine that you will be anything but fine though. And as for not eating those 'things that are not good for you'. You will be surprised how easy it really is. I cannot eat anything fried and no potatoes. I am so used to it now I don't even want it ... because I know it will make me sick. You will get there too. I can fly down a menu and eliminate everything I cant have in lightening speed, then I choose something from what is left. Hang in there. It will become second nature. So glad to be in touch. Take care of yourself. ((hugs))

  20. Regarding your diet change...move in slowly. If you crave fries just eat a handful. Then be healthy for the rest of the day. It is like salt, if you slowly cut back soon you will find rich food too difficult to eat whole portions. Really. Just move along slowly and be patient with yourself.

  21. I'm so glad you're up and well Anni! :)
From your colourful flowers I love the
Tumbstone Rose best, it's my favourite
    colour for roses :)
As far as your diet goes, take it easy :)
You'll get used to chewing on carrots
and other healthy stuff pretty soon instead
of chips and cheese crackers, you'll find
out they make your stomach full and your
morning business will become a very easy
one because of all the fibres in there. By
the way, you'll find out pretty soon, they
have alot more taste to them :D
And yes, it IS ok to get off that line once
a month. Cheating is fun, overdoing is not :D
    But you know that already...
And your beautiful and cheerful earrings Bud
bought for you, I think he got them because
these guys look just like him. I don't really
know how he looks, but I can imagine, that
he has a 24 hour grin in his face, beeing very
happy that you survived your heart attack and
are back home with him. :))
Wish you both a wonderful time!
And I'm going to sign in here to keep an eye on you ;)

    Big hug from

  22. Glad you were feeling up to being here today. Good luck with your eating change. We are supposed to be doing that too and it's hard. We've been the type to eat what we want when we want. Now we're both border line diabetic.

  23. Oh my, giving up the fries and cheeseburgers would be hard. Endure to the end...

Enjoyed your photos of the beautiful flowers. Those red beards on your earrings get my approval!

  26. Hello Anni!:) I was so pleased and surprised to get a visit from you so early after your heart attack, and came over streight away to wish you continued good health, and all the best. You can only benifit from a strict diet right now, I know it's hard, but I'm sure you can keep to it.The flowers are beautiful, and the cute little leprechaun earrings are such fun, ..so thoughtful of your hubby to buy them for you.
Stay well Anni, and take care.

  27. Hi Anni, Nice to see you back on here. Hope you are feeling better. I know what you mean about the cheeseburgers! My favorite! Yeah, I had to cut back on them. Now I usually order a regular burger (no cheese) with extra mustard! :-) Take care! John

  28. It's so good to have you back! I'm not a fan of cheeseburgers, being a vegetarian and all, but I know how hard it is to make those kinds of changes. You're worth it, though! I'd like you to be around for a good long while, selfish I know. :-)

  29. Yep, gotta leave those burgers and fries alone. The only time we eat them now is when we grill our own burgers in the summer (and even then infrequently) and we make oven-roasted fries which are much healthier, and often sweet potato fries instead of regular potatoes. We add olive oil and rosemary and they are very tasty.

  30. I am simply thrilled to see a post from you!!! Pace yourself! Yes, an ocassional hamburger is fine - just not every week. Louis Dean has stents and his heart doctor daid to eat healthy most of the time and all ow yourself one day a month to eat whatever you want. I think LD forgets how many days are in a month.......
