...when we got back home, after the drive to the park, I focused on the tree shadow against the moon glow...

...then, the morning of the super moon, at 6ish...this is what I saw. I tried to get some man-made object in the image to show the vast size and closeness of the moon. I utilized the peaked roof of a house nearby as it swiftly moved through the atmosphere---

...finally away from any obstruction:

Your moon shots are beautiful!!! Especially with the statue in the foreground, it is like the Moon Goddess!!! And SO SO very cool you got that roof, or else I would never have known how big it was! Ours was not NEAR that big!
ReplyDeleteIt's big...you just need to concentrate on a man-made object instead of just the moon in the night sky. AT least I think so.
DeleteAnni, beautiful shots of the moon rising. Love the composition, well done! Have a happy day!
ReplyDelete...thanks Eileen.
DeleteAmazing!!! What terrific pictures. You captured it perfectly!
ReplyDelete...thanks Shelly. How was your vacation?
DeleteIt was great, but a very long drive from Dallas. Now to unpack!
Delete...summer time makes ANY driving around the state of Texas long...and HOT!
DeleteYou got some great moon shots! I especially like the first one with the statue curved around it.

DeleteWonderful shots!!!! I love the full mermaid (?) figure against the moon....beautiful! I remember when you posted about the statue....was it when they unveiled it? This is a much more enticing photo....makes me want to come and see it myself!
ReplyDelete...come on down!!!
DeleteGreat photos and i love your watermark...it's so cute. How do you do that?
ReplyDeleteHoping your 4th is good...ours will be quite this year as both sets of kids and families are going on vacation. We all celebrated together yesterday. :)

ReplyDelete...thanks Birgitta. I was totally impressed with your marigold images too, today.
DeleteBeautiful series of the supermoon. I'm learning F stops and Manual settings on my Nikon D200 for night time shots. I've got a long ways to go. Your photos are very inspiring. Happy 4th!
ReplyDeletemost of my photos are set on 'auto'. Sometimes I use manual focus.
DeleteI've always heard about the MAN in the moon; now I know it's a woman! Thanks for sharing these fantastic shots.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blue Monday, Anni.

DeleteFabulous moon shots, and I love the title that has me humming the song 'Fly me to the Moon'. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to know how you do your watermarks on the photos Anni, is there a tutorial somewhere on your blog?

DeleteAwesome shots of the moon. I did get to see it but didn't bother trying to take any pictures. My camera just isn't good for something that far away
ReplyDelete...Oh Ann, I was just at your blog this morning, and LOVE the pumpkin shaped cookies. They'd be great for Halloween. LOL
DeleteBeautiful moon shots. I love the moon...it inspires so much of what I write..it is my muse winking in my window.
ReplyDelete...thanks Susie.

Deletelove this post.
ReplyDelete...thanks dear one!
DeleteYou got some great shots of the moon. It's always difficult to get a sense of scale with moon shots because it's so very far away. Houses are usually a good bet though.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I find your copyright notice very distracting. It's hard to 'see' the photograph in some of these shots ... but I do understand why you do it. I hate copyright theft, myself.
...sorry you find them distracting...but I WILL continue to do so!
DeleteOh wow! Stunning shots Anni. I played too. Mine are here and here.
ReplyDelete...thanks!
Deletemy camera could not take a good picture of the moon, I also chose the wrong time to try. It looked like a fried egg.........sigh
ReplyDeleteYours is beautiful
Janice
...thanks Janice. I won't tell you, then, just how many 'eggs' I deleted before I got some good ones. ;-)
DeleteYour moon shots are great, showing the detail of the craters so well. Did you use a special lens? I didn't get out to see the moon then, we have a lot of tall trees, so it's great to see photos with so much detail to see what we missed.
ReplyDelete...thanks Hannah.
