some of my amaryllis have been blooming in our yard!!! I'm always thrilled with these as my mother had them in our home in Colorado...blooming in the winter; indoors...now I have them OUTside!!! Makes me think of her each and every year, I know she'd love to see them. The leaves remain evergreen throughout the year, but they only bloom once, around Easter [or Early Spring] each year.

As y'all have read on my posts, I do like to pay a visit to those who stop by and leave me a comment. A few months ago, like...back in January, as y'all know this by now also, Blogger finally infused the 'reply' to comments on our comment forms. And I was thrilled!!! Altho, some had difficulties in actually leaving a comment, I think by now that Blogger has 'fixed the bug' and most can now leave a word or two after visiting. Now, you ask..."Anni? Why are you so thrilled about this 'threaded comments' being enabled in Blogger"? Simple...it helps me keep track of my repaying them THEIR visit. The threaded comments [reply tag] is more or less for MY benefit. When you leave a comment here, if there are comments above yours, you may have noticed I respond with the reply link. I do this for my own 'system and how I work'. You see, after I click on the commentors link from my form, I then will make a note under that comment in the reply ---by doing this ritual, I know that I visited them!!! If there is no reply from me, I know that I need to get my hiney over there and say hello and reciprocate their kindness ---it's just good protocol. It helps me immensely having this 'new' response system! Finally...an easier way to keep track of visits paid. At least for me, that is. And, I'm taking great advantage of it. Now, I do realize that most bloggers do not take the time to return and read if I responded or not...which is okay...I just like to make use of something good.
That first amaryllis photo is just gorgeous! It's so neat that they were originally from your Mom.

DeleteSometimes, with a few people that I know use the comment replies, I visit again to see what is said, but mostly I forget. I should be more organized! I love the amaryllis - I have about 6 of them that are ready to pop open...one of my favorites has given birth to a few others...it is red and white stripes. I will post photos when it blooms!

I just need to know how to use the new posting method that they are forcing on us. In time, I will have to change or not blog. I do not understand it at all. Always happy when you drop by.

DeleteI rarely go back to read if a comment has been left on my comment. It's all I can do to keep up as it is, but I always appreciate your comments on my blogs. But you know, if it gets to be a burden, I can probably live without a comment or two. :-) We all have ways we use Blogger, and they all work (although Blogger doesn't always).

ReplyDeleteI like the comment reply, and I enjoy seeing a reply to a comment I have left. It lets me know that the person has indeed read my comment and taken the time to reply to it. It is a great way to keep up with who you have visited too!
Like I said, I was so pleased to finally have the comment reply...that way I know by replying that I visited you. I too like photos done in macro.

ReplyDeleteI know about the comment replies... WordPress had it before Blogger. However, I don't like it and won't use it... Why--you ask? Because I don't have time to go back to someone's blog for a reply.. I have a hard enough time visiting someone ONE time... IF I ask a question, I'd much rather get my reply in my email... That works better for me... I truly don't think that most people (especially those of us with lots of followers) have or take the time to return to a blog for a reply... I don't ever reply to comments unless there is a question. If I get a question, I email that person. If I don't have their email address, I'll leave the answer on their blog --and ask for their email address...

DeleteAnnie, Your flowers are gorgeous!! Are those flowers heat resistant? If so, I need to get some, South Carolina gets hot in the summer months and the flowers look terrible.

As for the amaryllis being 'heat resistant'...I'm not sure what you mean....I have them planted in the ground. Most often, they are sold as potted indoor plants. They bloom but once every Spring. And I have them planted near the foundation of the house...protected. As long as they don't freeze, they'll do well each year.

Yep, it's a good way to keep track. I think it's important to repay their kindness with taking time to leave a comment here....so I respond after leaving a comment there....here...so I know I've done the 'right thing' and left them a word or two.

We have lillies in our flower beds that bloom in June...they are named after both of our Mothers..it's a nice way to remember our loved ones! As far as having "reply" on my comments!!! I do the same thing as Bestsy from Tn. It saves time.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't check other blogs to see if they responded to me either. I have no time for that. But in all, I think a lot are confused with my post here...it's that I use MY OWN reply HERE to keep record of who I repaid a visit to after I left their blog. That way, I know that I visited them. And since I don't like email - it actually saves me several steps and several minutes to respond here since I'm in my blog admin to begin with.

Yes, thing is, I belong to several photo/tube/psp image shares in my email and get hundreds a day. As you say, someone who would want to reply to my comment via email...it would get ignored and lost in the shuffle of it all. That's why I keep my email private...no time for both, and my psp'ing is most important for me at this time.
