Sunshine O'er My Shoulder makes me happy....

Actually, I have no idea what all these flowers are...only that they're wildflowers that were blooming profusely at Suter Park the other day when we were on a walk to the birding boardwalk and observation deck. The only flower that I recognized was the blue...that is the Texas State Flower...the blue bonnet.

MONDAY MORSELS

I'm listening to Les Miserables 25th Anniversary cd, and enjoying the songs right now. I love the story, love the musical and I am reading right now that it's rumored there'll be a musical released in December...on the big screen. And, yep...it's gonna be Les Miserables. I'm not sure about this, but I do know that the phenomenal Phantom of the Opera from Broadway was quite successful and well done [MHO] for movies. Also, come to think of it, Chicago wasn't bad either. Oh ya, and Johnny Depp didn't do too bad a job singing in the musical/movie Sweeney Todd either. Okay, so the character Jean Valjean...it's going to be played by none other than Hugh Jackman?!!! I say, for real? Whoa baby. Hmmmm. Okay, so now I can hardly wait. But, for my Morsels today, I'm once again gonna go out on a tangent and rant a little bit. If you're any bit of a history buff, you'll know that next month will be the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. And believe it or not, the 'coming soon' list of movies to be released next month are....yep, the one and only James Cameron's long time epic...Titanic. Starring Kate Winslet and Leo DiCaprio. Now, I liked the movie quite a bit. But, I say..."Get Real". Does the man need more money after making billions? Does he want to remain "King of the World"? I just can't stomach the idea of it coming to theaters again. Sure, there are some that haven't seen it I suppose. And the younger generation should be considered. But...my goodness. It's not like it's been shown over and over on television. And released on DVD/Blue Ray and probably the ability to download it on your iPad, etc. I call this over-saturation, and money hungry greed! There, I said it, I feel better.

  1. I used to know what the yellow flower is, but have forgotten. I would love to see some close ups of the bluebells, as they only grow in Texas, and not many people have seen them. Have you heard Nanci Griffith's beautiful "Gulf Coast Highway" song about the bluebells? I never saw that titanic movie, and why? Because it was so over saturated and things about it on all the time that I got sick of it and didn't want to see or hear anything more about it.

    1. No, I've not heard the song...but I'll be sure to look for it next time I'm out on youtube.

    1. I know what you mean...that Gerard Butler made a very handsome Phantom if you want my opinion.

  3. I think the top photo (yellow with dark rust red centers) may be Garden Coreopsis, a type of aster.
I'd love to see a muscial Les Mis come to the big screen. I watch the one with Liam Neeson whenever it comes on, but it's not a musical.

    1. Thanks so much for naming the flower for me. Y'know, when you don't know that name and you try to Google for it, it just doesn't work out. LOL

  4. I love all types of flowers.

  5. I was going to say Coreopsis - I see Mama Hen has beat me to the punch! As for Phantom - I loved that movie...Titanic I was not thrilled with simply because I have a hard time with a movie that romanticizes a tragedy of that magnitude. I know, I am a stick-in-the-mud, but there you have it. I watched Titanic only because I was staying with someone who rented it and insisted that we all watch it - short of being rude, I didn't know what else to do. The photos are lovely - ours are just starting to pop above the ground - jonquils are up, and the hyacinths, always the early birds. Won't be long and others will be blooming and I will be SO much happier - I am definitely a summertime girl! Have a great day, Anni!

  8. That yellow flower, whatever it is, is gorgeous! I can't wait for things to start blooming here ... there are a few daffodils blooming, but I foolishly keep forgetting to plant spring bulbs in the fall, so nothing's blooming here. :-( I do love spring-blooming plants and have added a few ... unfortunately, they all bloom later in the spring.

I saw Titanic but have no desire to see it again. I think all of the hype ruined it for me.

    1. In regards to Titanic...me either...I've seen it enough already. No need to watch it again. Especially by paying the big bucks at a theater.

  9. I see that the crocuses are up all over town, but YOU have all those wildflowers already. I guess it's because you live in a subtropical part of the country, and I live in the RAINY part of the country, Anni. I will skip seeing Titanic again, just because it's in 3-D doesn't mean it will be a different movie. I've already seen it twice. :-)

And the red ones look like poppies? some has to verify that, because flower names are not my strength, lol!

  20. Anni, Love the wildflowers. I want to see Texas Blue Bonnets for real. I've only ever seen photos or pictures on tv.

I agree, releasing "Titanic" back to theaters would be over saturation. I've seen it a couple of times.

Hubby and I are fine. The grandsons did a great job on their first semesters. Mom is getting out, as usual, and hasn't had any health issues lately, thank goodness. Life is going fairly smoothly. We are no longer in our house. We are now renters, but life goes on.

Email me if you still have my addy. Would love to catch up with all you've been doing.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  22. Sigh...I can't wait for flowers to be in bloom around here. Hey, at least the snow is melting and we can even see grass in some places!! We've been having a mild spell so it's going down fast. If it dares snow again before March ends I'm gonna scream! lol

I loved Titanic when I first saw it at the cinema and have watched it again quite a few times on tv but now I'm fed up with it! lol I can't believe they're going to release it again, as you say that would be kind of an overkill. I would love to see Les Miserables come out as a movie, especially if it stars Hugh Jackman...drool!!! xoxo
