“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

To all who celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow - May your day be filled with blessings! I'll be back blogging full speed on Friday, hopefully.

AND----

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to 'clean up' the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. In desperation, John threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.

Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute. Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer.

The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said, 'I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.'

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. He was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, when the bird continued, 'May I ask what the turkey did?'

Wolfie tagged me.
I'm supposed to list 7 things about myself.
Here goes:

1] I've done a lot of genealogy for my own roots [back to the 1600 Ireland].
2] Small towns and close-knit communities fascinate me --they're so loyal to one another [unlike living in large cities]
3] Speaking of close-knit, the Amish Society is ideal in this day and age, I think!
4] Roses are my favorite flower.
5] Weeping Willow is my favorite tree.
6] I love to sit outdoors [or work outdoors]...for hours.
7] I love cooking Mexican food from scratch!! [much tastier!]

I don't tag, but if you do the list of seven, let me know, I'd enjoy reading more about you.

Let's face it ladies, we've no doubt had fantasies of exotic looking men, wealthy beyond our wildest dreams, handsome and debonair...those kind of men, ya ---fantasies of having them sweep us off our feet and be our one and only. Even if it's for an hour or two in a dream or daydream! Now I don't really do this myself. But hey, this guy is rich! He's got style [pun on words]!! And stuff to make any woman's fantasy a memorable one....

While out and about, we were at a small strip mall, and ended up going into Marshall's the other day, I was perusing the aisles, looking for a cute sweater for our daughter to ship off to her for the holidays. Her boys are going to be at their father's house this year, so our daughter is taking a trip back home to Colorado for Christmas. I thought a new sweater would be nice for her to wear in the cold climes. Anyway, for one reason or another I ended up back in the linen department. Just browsing the bedding and such. To make a long story, short --I painted the master bedroom a deep rich plum purple. And when I did do this, purples were not 'en vogue' at the time. So, bedding to match was difficult if not impossible to find. So, I settled for a striped beige, green and plum bedspread. I really wasn't pleased with it, and always had in mind a deep, rich, quilted plum color bed covering --with flowers. Deep in color for the hubby...flowery and feminine for me.

And lo and behold, there was one in the plastic zippered bag...just the color I was looking for long ago!! And it was the king sized to fit our bed!! YES!!! I pulled it out off the top shelving, and heavy as it is, I managed to stay free of disaster of everything else falling on my head from above. It was plum colored. It was rich in other colors...it was flowered! It was MINE! But what really sold me was, I am now able to say I lay under Ralph Lauren every night!!!!

:::sigh:::
