Not only is October meaningful to the young at heart with Halloween, we also observe many traditional holidays and celebrations such as Navy Day, Day of the Dead, and the annual American Heart Association's Heart Walk nation-wide, as I've mentioned recently, but as we all know it's also Breast Cancer Awareness month. It's a 'busy month'. Fund raisers galore and wearing of the pink ribbons and men and women alike remember those that have passed on from the killer disease and/or survived from it all, but I also take it a step further. Of course I do. I even DRINK PINK!!
One of my favorite liquors is tequila. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not one to drink in excess. Never have, never will. But living in Tucson I tried just about every brand of Tequila there was available over the more than decade residing there; being so close to Mexico and the blue agave plants that are distilled for the liquor. Then, one day at a local grocery store I saw a new one! And, yes, in Arizona you can buy hard liquor at a grocery store! I put a bottle of it in the shopping cart and that very night, Bud and I tried it. DEEEEEEEElicious. Of course, it's a liqueur which means you SIP it and very LITTLE of it. No more than a shot glass will suffice. It was sweet like strawberry ice cream with a 'kick' of tequila's bitterness. A bit sweet and scorching going down the throat, but after the shock and sting of tequila, the strawberry flavor came thru and it was quite mellow afterward. Now, I have a shot of it during October [like I said, if it weren't for margaritas I probably wouldn't drink anything but water and milk. Maybe a caffeine free soda once in a while].
Our local liquor store here in Corpus that we shop at for Bud's wines and brandy, [Wines and More], for October and cancer awareness, I not only drink, but I buy PINK! A whole new kind of Halloween spirit that's just been on the market a little over 20 years.
By the way, the rose on the bottle changes color to let you know when it's chilled to perfection. From their website I did a screenshot. Or if you'd like to read more detail of the liqueur, click here.

That looks delicious, Anni.... and I'm so glad you enjoy it. Have a shot for me! I can't drink tequila of any kind or variety. It makes my clothes fall.... umm...... never mind. :-) ~Andrea xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteGot the gist...right away!!
DeleteI don't think I've ever had tequila of any kind. I did most of my drinking before I ever turned 21...lol That does sound pretty good though. How clever that the strawberry changes colors to let you know when it's chilled enough
ReplyDeleteNever figured out how that works, but it"s pretty cool none the less.
DeleteFunny you mentioned pink because in the past I've shared several blog posts in the past about my love of the color PINK! Besides green, pink is one of my favorite colors. Pink, to me, is such a happy color.
ReplyDeleteI only drink wine (dry, full-bodied reds), but if I drank tequila, this would definitely be on my "must-try" list.
"By the way, the rose on the bottle changes color to let you know when it's chilled to perfection."
That is so cool!
Thanks for sharing, Anni! And have a great weekend!
GREEN and purple for me as favorite colors. I like very pastel pinks!!
DeleteThe strawberry flavor sounds tasty. I usually prefer a glass of wine, maybe a beer.
ReplyDeleteTake care, enjoy your weekend!
Tequila for me. I will occasionally have a beer (must be icy cold) with pizza.
DeleteI have never tasted tequila...
ReplyDeleteIt's good mixed with citrus especially.
DeleteI don't drink hard liquor but this is so pretty and sounds so yummy.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pretty pink...and smells / tastes like ice cream.
Deletemother loved pink, any shade, i only like pink roses or neon pink shirts or in my leggins.
ReplyDelete...are you now able to wear your leggings again? Irene & my mom loves/loved pink too.
DeleteNo longer a drinker but in the day, that clever label would have drawn me in.
ReplyDeleteI remember.
DeleteNow that's a new one on me. I generally don't care for creamy liqueurs (like Bailey's). I wonder how that would be blended like a frozen margarita?
ReplyDeleteWhy not just mix a strawberry margarita then?
DeleteBailey's has always been a special treat for the Mister and Me...I never heard of Tequila Rose and never have even tasted anything tequila. The chilling indicator is fascinating to me. Nope Pink not a favorite color at all. Might be an "adventure" for me to try it!!
ReplyDeleteIf you like strawberries, or ice cream...chilled, this is very good!
DeleteFor health, neither of us can drink anything any more. But love the color PINK. So this looks delightful.
ReplyDeleteAnd love that the rose changes color, to show when it's perfect temp!!!!!!

I'm not supposed to have alcoholic drinks, but I do occasionally.
DeleteWhat a pretty bottle and it is temperature controlled too.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
Alllll for you!
DeleteI don’t drink, but that one sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty good. Liqueur is just more or less a tablespoon serving.
DeleteLooks good my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt is IMO
DeleteI can't get past the "Feminine Energy" comment. ROFL
ReplyDeleteYou picked up on her gist too then! LOLOLOL
DeleteI had never heard of Navy Day. Asked Ken (he was in the navy for 20 years) and he never heard of it either. Looked it up - Celebrated on 27the of October.
ReplyDeleteYep, Bud is Navy too. It's also my father's birthday. 😊
Deletethis sounds so cool! I wish I could try it.
ReplyDeleteIt is sweet with a touch of tequila bitter.
DeleteTequila Rose sounds delightful but I doubt we can buy it up here. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteMaybe?!!
DeleteWell, I like your spirit indeed! I do enjoy a good shot of tequila on a rare occasion and while i am not a fan of strawberry anything, nor sweet drinks, i think that ice creamy/chocolate-drizzled drink shown in the ad is intriguing....now that i might enjoy. ~Robin~ (TheCrankyCrow) (i believe i am in the right place as i see your wonderful witches in posts below that i will have to peruse more thoroughly, but i cannot figure out how to follow you (having that same issue with "beside a babbling brook." yikes....i think technology has more than caught up with me....thought for sure there would be a follow option on the sidebar...perhaps i am missing it??
ReplyDeleteBlogger has a mind of its own sometimes.
DeleteScroll way down to bottom of posts. It may show upandthen, it may not. Glad you came to visit.
I have to say I like Tequila base drinks.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
...this is straight from the bottle.
DeleteI am SO going to find and buy a bottle of this! I am a wine drinker mostly but I do love a good tequila! Margaritas are my dining out or I should say 'drinking out' treat. Louis Dean has offered to buy me a margarita machine but I told him NO! That would not be safe to have here at home! Happy October to you! I was with Amber yesterday and the quads have not been over to see my fall decorations or my spooky Halloween and witch themed den....complete with a 'fortune telling' ball and a spin the pumpkin game. I think they may come over for a visit, an afternoon, a day or even an overnight. You would love my den - or at least the half of it decorated for HAlloween!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a terrific decorated room!! Hope you find it...at wines & more it's in the liqueur aisle/shelves. I'm sure you have one of those stores up north.
DeleteNow that's a likker I might actually like! You make it sound delicious. :-)
ReplyDeleteIf you like ice cream, you will no doubt like tequila rose!
DeleteThat Tequila Rose looks very tempting! I want it just for the bottle and that amazing label! I can't have alcohol but I love those good kinds of drinks and enjoy the fake pina colada's, or used to before dumb ol' diabetes. I love October so much, too!
ReplyDeleteAwwww, that's too bad. I'm not supposed to drink alcohol either with my heart meds. But, I cheat occasionally.
DeleteCan't drink alcohol due to migraines... but used to love Irish Coffees! Don't think I've ever tried tequila... even in my younger days. And not a fan of beer... although I do like Guiness!
ReplyDeleteBut you do make that drink sound good...

DeleteRe: your comment on the chickens... Yes, they need their wings clipped!!! But son hasn't found anyone to do it. ~~~ Soooo, logic says, he has to do it. ~~~~ But logic also says he has to have help. One to hold chicken upside down by feet, till they go very happy/limp. Then the other person, clips one wing, anyway. ~~~~ He has a great big son, but he would never be part of this!!!! LOL Sooo, logic says my husband (his father) would do the holding, and son do the clipping. ~~~~ So far, this logical happening, has not happened. -grinnnn-

So, it IS still done?
DeleteWoah, I'm behind the times. I thought there were just two types of Tequila. The traditional clear and brown throat burning kinds. Too bad I never tried these flavored ones, that's if they existed back in the day, 80s and 90s.
ReplyDeleteToday I can't handle hard alcohol. I just have two to three beers a year!
I have a beer occasionally with pizza.
