Not only is October meaningful to the young at heart with Halloween, we also observe many traditional holidays and celebrations such as Navy Day, Day of the Dead, and the annual American Heart Association's Heart Walk nation-wide, as I've mentioned recently, but as we all know it's also Breast Cancer Awareness month. It's a 'busy month'. Fund raisers galore and wearing of the pink ribbons and men and women alike remember those that have passed on from the killer disease and/or survived from it all, but I also take it a step further. Of course I do. I even DRINK PINK!!
One of my favorite liquors is tequila. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not one to drink in excess. Never have, never will. But living in Tucson I tried just about every brand of Tequila there was available over the more than decade residing there; being so close to Mexico and the blue agave plants that are distilled for the liquor. Then, one day at a local grocery store I saw a new one! And, yes, in Arizona you can buy hard liquor at a grocery store! I put a bottle of it in the shopping cart and that very night, Bud and I tried it. DEEEEEEEElicious. Of course, it's a liqueur which means you SIP it and very LITTLE of it. No more than a shot glass will suffice. It was sweet like strawberry ice cream with a 'kick' of tequila's bitterness. A bit sweet and scorching going down the throat, but after the shock and sting of tequila, the strawberry flavor came thru and it was quite mellow afterward. Now, I have a shot of it during October [like I said, if it weren't for margaritas I probably wouldn't drink anything but water and milk. Maybe a caffeine free soda once in a while].
Our local liquor store here in Corpus that we shop at for Bud's wines and brandy, [Wines and More], for October and cancer awareness, I not only drink, but I buy PINK! A whole new kind of Halloween spirit that's just been on the market a little over 20 years.
By the way, the rose on the bottle changes color to let you know when it's chilled to perfection. From their website I did a screenshot. Or if you'd like to read more detail of the liqueur, click here.
