In a previous, very recent comment that I left for Ms. G, I mentioned that I had a specific subject to blog about, just for her. You see, a few years back, she posted about a prolific blooming cactus her friend had for many years. [reminds me of my white, night blooming, Epiphyllum -aka orchid cactus] It was beautiful photo[s] shared throughout her blog post. How envious I was. I then mentioned I would love to have that in my own yard [or something to that nature]. Well, things worked around that comment and I eventually received a couple of cuttings from that very parent plant; from the very generous friend with Gere working as the 'middle man' in the whole scheme of things. Well, I have literally 'babied' the cuttings after potting them. Outdoors during the day and night [unless it was predicted to drop below 50°. And bring the entire plant indoors during anytime that was cold.] Even Bud can contest to me making sure he didn't touch it when close by. I did not want any breakage. The nurturing and gentle care paid off this Spring. It's going to bloom for the very first time!! Each day ever since I noticed the tiny nodule on the stem, I've checked its progress. And I promise to get a photo of it in full bloom. Shown is a photo just for you Ms. G. Again, I can't thank you two enough. This ol' lady in Texas is elated----PS...over this past weekend, I went to LOWES and purchased a wrought iron plant stand since the blossom is hanging low on the stem, I didn't want it breaking off with the winds that blow often.
...and to continue showcasing my Trolls...

DeleteIsn't it fun when you get something "living" from a friend. I love that too! It feels like they've shared their life with you and now you have a little part of them with you all the time. At least that's how I look at it anyway. I can feel your excitement thru your words, Anni! ~Andrea xoxoxo

DeleteA beautiful blossom that radiates with heat in this rich red color! I bet Ms. G is proud of this result. It's been years since I've been fortunate to get a cactus bloom. Perhaps my prickly pears won't let me down this summer?
ReplyDeleteIn Tucson, where we first retired, prickly pear was everywhere!!
DeleteJust the bud is gorgeous, so I can only imagine how beautiful the bloom will be! She is so generous. And I bet it will be stunning on the stand. I want to see the stand as well! This Troll is a cutie, and looks like a baby Troll.
ReplyDeleteThe stand is really nothing special, but it keeps the blossom from dragging on the ground.
