I haven't posted anything lately 'cause I haven't been home much. When I am home, I try to view some of my favorite blogs [since I only allow myself an hour online time so I won't be sitting all day at the computer.] Some blogs I haven't visited for a few days...I apologize. And I also figure if I have nothing noteworthy to say, why bother y'all with prattle that impedes with your time. I also kinda figure boredom overtakes you coming here when I post the same stuff day in and day out. Tuesday is/was our day of continuing our clean up in the yard. This year it seems like an unending chore! Then, the rest of the week so far, I've been leaving before sunrise to go birding, and gone all day. I tellya, this week it's been phenomenal!! I just can't keep up with all the migrants. They are everywhere. And parks I stop at, the camera seems to be whirring around from one spot to the next. A new bird just flew in before I can get a photo of the previous bird seen. Like I said, they are everywhere. I saw a new bird the other day... Exciting for me.
Since yesterday, when I was out early, the winds picked up and the chill factor dropped considerably...the birds disappeared. So maybe today I can go back out again on the hunt. Our best birding season only lasts for a few weeks. I gotta get out when I can.
In the meantime I'll share some nature photos from the park. When I arrived just after sunrise, there was ground fog and the dew point was high, so some interesting images to share. While I was walking the boardwalk in the quiet before other bird fanatics showed up, a brown pelican with his bright breeding plumage flew in low [swift and silent] and landed in the wildflower field, making for a pretty photo op. I share a few now, before I leave for the day. The one vertical image to the left [in the series #5] of the pelican is my favorite- the early morning sunlight hitting the meadow all around the flowers in the field.

Beautiful photos. That one with the pelican is pretty awesome and I just love all those wildflowers.

ReplyDeleteWe just had three inches of heavy, wet snow. It cost our neighborhood and city many, many beautiful trees which were in full blossom. The crabapples, redbuds, and apple and pear trees were literally split apart and broken down. So sad. We're all waiting for warmer temps to begin the cleanup here.
We had that nearly every Spring in Colorado.

Deletethe last two are my favorites, i have never seen that many wild flowers in a field. awesome and so is the Pelican in the wild flowers, that is also something I have never seen, Pelican in any kinds of flowers. we are having perfect days also.. today I had to wear long sleeves to walk, 65, low humidty and wind. gorgeous out there, i loved my walk today

DeleteWow, I have seen a ton of pelicans but never one in full courting garb. Such a handsome fellow. If I were a lady pelican, he would be hard to pass up.

DeleteGosh Anni I know what you mean. HOWEVER, today's photos are beautiful!! Over the last year each day is ground hog day. We take trails or walks each day but sometimes just nothing new then Bang last week to amazing things on trails Woody and Maggie the pups we met the last Friday we had an amazing deer sighting on Shelley Lake trial I post that tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYesterday morning it was 62, wind picked up in the afternoon. Before day it dropped to 50 degrees This morning we had a chilly 33.

DeleteBeautiful photos with the wildflowers that fill the frame to evoke abundance! Your second photo with the early morning fog evokes such enchantment. I am getting busy, too and lately, I've been pulling from my archives to keep up. Floral blossoms have been late this year and this morning we had a heavy frost which looks to have killed some blossoms and wilted tulip buds.

I love all of the photos, especially the flowers and the misty morning before it's bright out. I have heard that the Corpus area is one of the very best for birding when the migrants are going through.
