The Spirit of Texas...

Doing my morning routine, I realized I forgot to buy toothpaste at the grocery store the last time I went. It seems lately, I am always forgetting one item or another.   I emptied the tube, and afterward decided to go get some via a stop-over at a small Lakeview park for a short walk in the fresh air.  Walking done, I ended up going into the Dollar Store instead of heading for the grocery store, to also get a Valentine scarf for the dining room table to decorate for Valentine's Day in a week or two. And since it was a federal holiday, the newly constructed bank on the corner of the park grounds is being landscaped, and no workers, so I walked the rest of the block after walking around the lake's perimeter, and checked it out. Texans are very proud of their state, and this building reminded me of historical Texas. The cannons especially. Why the cannons?  Read here: Come and Take It  Santa Ana's army and the Texas Revolution...

  1. Beautiful photos. The new bank looks like a miniature White House. I hope you post your Valentine table when it is done! Are there Valentine witches? Maybe not, but I have seen Valentine gnomes for sure!

  5. ... that's why I always make a list of groceries ... not to forget! LOL
The birds are always beautiful ... the bank doesn't impress me ... it always asks for interest!

    1. Ya, they do tend to rob you with interest. But, it's a safe place for savings accounts & safety deposit boxes. (You KNOW by now, I love photographing birds)

  10. Truly, the pictures that struck me most are the flags flying high in the winds and the three-cannon lineup. Building of bank photos are nice but not inspiring for me.

    1. Only two cannons. And I couldn't get all the flags in one photo (I believe there were 5 or 6). I really like the style of the bank...very "Texan".

    2. Should have said three cannon wheels or two cannons. Anyway it is a nice perspective!

  11. Oh what a beautiful bank building!! Gorgeous!! I heard the National Rifle Association is moving to Texas. I'm guessing their building will be just as grand, bankruptcy or not. :) ~Andrea xoxo
