If you've followed me within the last couple of years, you know I'm a baseball fan. Sadly, by the way things are going with the talks of the baseball league and the players coming in contact and active cases reported of the coronavirus, it's doubtful there will even BE a season this year. At one time the talks were for a shortened season, but now...nada, zilch, nothing. I wish that weren't true. I love the game, the crack of the ball as it makes contact with the bat...the players enthusiasm, the fans, the home runs, the double plays, close games in score, etc. I don't even mind the rules being broken and the cheating involved as was the case last year...I can't help but say, "It's been going on long before 2019!!" Why even now, with day 114 of shelter in place [even tho I do go out for exercise, it's not the same freedom...I feel too confined still], I find myself tuning into FOX Sports on Saturday for their broadcast of Baseball Classic Games [this Saturday it was Astros v. Mets] with the Mets winning the pennant for World Series...in 1986!!!

It's getting bad:
Outside for a short time over the weekend, I watched the birds fight over a worm. The Cardinals lead the Blue Jays 3-1. If this continues, what'll I do when the Cowboys and Redskins are pitted against each other? Or is that something far too racial these days? Heck they may be in the same league for all I know...
This morning I saw a neighbor talking to his dog. It was obvious he thought his dog understood him. I came into the house, told Isaiah, our cat...we laughed a lot.
And I'm finding these days I laugh entirely too much over my own posted jokes!! And I also find it's easy to entertain myself, even tho life is a bit boring right now. And, honestly, I've got more to share...oh, oh.
You are a joy to read tonight! We can get thru things so much better if we have a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteGinny...YOU are a joy to me!
DeleteMy husband feels the same way you do but not about baseball about football tennis NASCAR NHRA which are the four that he feels about like you feel about baseball. Also we find ourselves laughing at things that are not really funny I think it's because of being confined and the funniest thing of all about being shut down is because everyone else feels the way you and Bob feel about sports their home and they're doing yard work and I'm meeting neighbors that have been there for 30 years that I never would have met if it wasn't for the virus
ReplyDeleteIf we don't laugh I think we'd all need a rubber room soon.
DeleteBeing able to amuse yourself is a good thing. It keeps you from getting too bored. I've always found it easy to entertain myself but lately I'm just getting annoyed by everyone and everything.
ReplyDeleteYou're under a lot of stress. And you also lost a husband.
DeleteI think I'm laughing entirely too much over your jokes too, Anni... so that makes two of us! :-D *lol* Seriously tho, I love them. Keep them coming, would you? Yes, poor baseball & every other sport that is missing out because of the virus. I can at least sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" with the spirit of Harry Caray, even if the Chicago Cubs aren't playing this summer. *sigh* Love, Andrea xoxo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnHV5FaqvEs
ReplyDeleteOkay...we'll sing a duet. Ready?
DeleteA sense of humor is needed during these crazy times. I am not a sports fan at all, so I do not miss any of it.. Enjoy your day, have a great new week ahead!
ReplyDeleteUsing sports humor gets me thru the day often.
DeleteI don't watch sports but I still like to follow who's ahead or behind. Your post today is a real delight! Thank you so much for the laughs. :-)
ReplyDeleteBud & I used to travel from Colorado to Tucson just to watch the Rockies in Spring training.
DeleteI'm not a sports fan except for the Triple Crown races. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the dates and order of the 2020 Triple Crown races have been shifted. The series usually ends with the Belmont Stakes, which was originally scheduled for June 5. Instead, the Kentucky Derby, traditionally the first Triple Crown race, will be next on September 5. The Preakness will be held October 3. This upsets my balance and I do not like change. My sense of humor is not nearly as flexible as yours. Thanks for your entertaining posts.
ReplyDeleteI think all those races are fixed & pre-determined way beforehand. Bud & I used to watch all the time.
DeleteTo each his/her own opinion but I saw Secretariat win way back in 1973 and that was no fixed race. I also watched on TV, Seattle Slew, Affirmed, American Pharoah, and Justify all take the Triple Crown and do not believe their races were corrupted in any way.
DeleteLike I said, we saw them win also.
DeleteMOL MOL MOL...yes I'm with you. My B's has been watching classic Carolina Hurricanes Hockey matches..He gave up on professional sports especially basketball years ago. He does like baseball,
ReplyDeleteIsaiah thinks you are funny and that is all that is necessary.
Hugs Cecilia
He's called me more things than just funny. But it's a family blog.
DeleteI desperately miss baseball. I hope we get a little of a season at least. You had me laughing at the Cardinals and Blue Jays and aren't we suppose to talk to our dogs and cats?:))
ReplyDeleteI think it'd be awesome to talk with them. I always do.
DeleteI'm an Astros fan I know but I didn't understand the big to do over the sign stealing scandal. Goodness me, baseball players are stealing signs? Good gracious how can that be!?
ReplyDeleteExactly my point...been happening way before the Astros!
DeleteI'm thinking that the most important thing I do is not to take myself too seriously! I know I often find myself laughing at myself. Tis good to know yourself!
ReplyDeleteYes, taking yourself seriously could spell trouble 😁
DeleteIt's the tennis I love. No Wimbledon for me this year! I'll have to make do watching previous years' matches. But then with my memory I won't remember who won so it will be like watching a new match!
ReplyDeleteThere ya'go. It works!
DeleteWe will be missing baseball, too, this year! We always went to at least one Rockies game and enjoyed it win or lose. Keep smilin!
ReplyDeleteI grew up & raised a family in Colorado!
DeleteWe really need entertainment.
ReplyDeleteWe're getting touchy.
Or is that tetchy? I have zero patience with hubby and I'm a grump.
DeleteItxs been difficult times to be sure.
DeleteWell, I hope my humor share helped a bit then.
DeleteI say keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteYes...keep smiling ...laughing.
DeleteWe don't watch any sports here at my house.
ReplyDeleteDon't even have television!
I talk to cows!! :)
We only get the free stations with antenna. Discontinued cable years ago. I wish sometimes we had no television. As long as I have movies to watch. Lol
DeleteIt is better to laugh than to cry!
ReplyDeleteTo be sure!
DeleteThose are good - and sometimes we just have to entertain ourselves!
ReplyDeleteBeing "cooped up" has been hard on all of us.
DeleteDuring these days of an unusual life, we must do whatever it takes to remain upbeat and keep a smile on our face.
ReplyDeleteIt makes the day a bit brighter!
DeleteYou have excellent ways to avoid boring....I should do the same...
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day
Laughter is always good.
DeleteLove your sense of humor Anni, I am leaving smiling. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGlad knowing you enjoyed a bit of fun!
DeleteI totally agree that you have the best sense of humor! Louis Dean will watch old sports games too. He says he's quitting football. We will see. Our neighbor girl is married to Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs. I was told they left their home in Florida to go back to Chicago for training. Guess things change fast. It's scary how many cases of Covid are in Texas. But I wonder how many of those cases are recovered now?
ReplyDeleteFootball (and all pro sports these days) seems to be all about money. It's disheartening. Ya, down here the cases have skyrocketed since Memorial Day.
DeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about beautiful, but if it helped you smile, it worked!
DeleteWhat are we going to do without the Great American pastime?
ReplyDeleteIt's really a very sad state of affairs.
It seems Life just keeps rolling along and please keep up the humor.
It's a much needed commodity.
I'm getting antsy to just GO...I guess it's because we can't. Besides the pockets are empty and the car's too old to go far...so...I'll work in the yard when it's not so hot , putter on the computer and try to get back into eBAY and clear some of this stuff..umm...treasures out of the house.
Sue
Sad, on more ways than one. Of course we all know this by now. Good luck with eBay
