Come around thru the Gate to our Yard...

As I type this up for pre-scheduled posting, it's a dark and stormy day! Earlier, we had buckets of rainfall. The thunder is still rumbling in the distance, and the sky is black on the horizon. I was sure the power would be off any minute, but it never went off. Which was surprising. What is more surprising is the weatherman the night before -his forecast- was humid but dry [meaning no rain. Ha. I wish I would've continued my college education and majored in meteorology....90% of the time wrong, and still get paid a six figure income! [jk] Anyway, I am using my laptop in case the electricity goes out still, and will share my photos from the other day. A trip around the piece of property we call home....

...a little bit of our back yard:

Top left to bottom right:  1-cement bird bath I use for bird seed [the water pump is real, but only for decoration]  2-off the patio, the feeder station 3-my pelican island [and ducks] with crepe myrtle and indoor palm.  4-our pomegranate tree

Both front and back are full  of blooms:

Top left to right: 1-Ixora and Don Juan Climbing rose 2-Rose and hot pink crepe myrtle 3-lavender crepe myrtle and orange/yellow lantana 4-duranta [purple cluster] and yellow and pink lantana 5-my prized hybrid variegated hibiscus and close-up  6-pink crepe myrtle.

  2. What a beautiful yard you have. I would love to have a yard full of flowers but I'm not good at gardening. Things I"ve planted have died and I absolutely hate weeding.

    1. It's a lot of work (here, it's a year 'round job). And you, with a full-time job...there aren't enough hours in the day.

    1. By the time our flowers are blooming, the hummingbirds have migrated farther north than the coast.

  5. I love the little birdhouse and a crepe myrtle flipping me back in time to the house we lived in that I grew up in that had a dirt road in front of the house and in the middle my uncle had planted crepe myrtles and they looked just like these and there was a line a whole block long! Your flowers are just gorgeous and I've been meaning to tell you that I can't see your bird blog on my phone. If I can remember I'm going to try to link to that blog and see if I can get it to come separately into my Feedly

  11. Goodness, you don't have to go anywhere to enjoy nature, you have a yard full of pretties to enjoy. I really liked the idea of using the bird bath as a feeder. Most of the time there is no water in mine.

Its nice you can be cozy on the inside while things are rumbling outside.
Miss having a bird feeder but the neighbors cats and other critters have made me shut down that Buffet.
    Have a great weekend.

  13. Dear Anni ~ I did not see a way to contact you, so will do so here. I don't understand your comment 'TMI, about black trash bags in case sweet doesn't work' for my latest blog post. I just woke up from a nap a little while ago so maybe my brain isn't awake yet. I've re-read your comment and still can't figure it out. ;-) Have a great weekend ~ FlowerLady

My goodness just lovely. If it wasn't so dang hot and humid sitting out surveying this would be an excellent way to spend your day.
