Bud and I spent the morning outdoors, pulling weeds and working on a couple of flowerbeds, trimming the crepe myrtle and pomegranate tree. Bud also sawed off a large branch on the neighbor's tree that was hanging over on our property and when the wind blows, it hits the fencing. We don't want to do any fence repair...so, off it went. Also, we did some much needed weeding along the back foundation. Done, while the temperature was mild and before the humidity built up.
Doing the yard work put any chance of getting out and walking on hold. By the time we were finished with yard work, it was going on 11 a.m. and after showers, it was lunch time. Bud napped, and I watched tv a bit afterwards.
I checked my emails during a commercial, and noticed a book I ordered was "Out for delivery". I waited for the mailman....

As I walked out to the mailbox to check for more mail since the package was left at the door, walking back to the house, I noticed that the esperanza bush was heavy with bloom this year! I wanted to share 'cause esperanza means "HOPE" in Spanish. There's hope in our neighborhood as is our country!
I walked up for a close up of the sunny yellow blossom....

I had to get one of my heart meds refilled, off I went to the drug store. I've been using the drive-thru to keep myself distanced from waiting in line in-store. While the pharmacist was packaging my prescription for me, I asked her if she had face masks....yes, they did. Boxes of 50 single-use. I bought one box. This is not the brand I bought since I have them packed away in the medicine cabinet and I'm too lazy to go get 'em...this is found online...Anyway, the purpose I mentioned this purchase is 'cause when I got home, Bud was awake, and I showed him: They were made in CHINA!! [funny]
I am sunned that you can find face masks in any brick and mortar store anywhere!!! The bush is gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was ironic that they're from China.
Deleteif you save the mask for 40 years they will be worth MONEY. ha ha, remember the made in Japan craze when we were young?
ReplyDeletei was about to say i had never seen one of these gorgeous yellow bushes, but the close up says we have them here and i did not know the name. a beautiful name. about the smart phone post today. this only works with smartphones who have wi-fi... just connect with home wi-fi. most of them have wi-fi, unless a really old one... it can even be taken to doc office or library for free wi fi hook up to do anything at all
I see on my radar right now you are having lots of rain, it was supposed to come here to morrow and we were eageraly awaiting it. now they say not
...and made in Korea a lot. My phone carrier is what I use. Yes, it has wi-fi. I think all smartphones have wi-fi, don't they? Yep, we got rain. Much needed. We are over 5" short on rainfall so far. Drought.
DeleteNo yard work for me. We got a bit of snow yesterday and it's cold out there.
ReplyDeleteThat bush is really pretty.
I've been paying more attention to where things are made and it's sure is hard to find anything that is made in the US
My father was a stickler about buying American made. Snow? In May?
DeleteLovely flowers!!!!
ReplyDeleteThey are. Good thing. About this bush, the flowering time is quite long (thru summer).
DeleteThat is a beautiful yellow flower on that bush. And it does sound really hot there, while the entire East Coast is freezing! :-)
ReplyDeleteToday, it's raining. So, it's a bit cooler.
DeleteBeautiful flower
ReplyDeleteOops. Got a frowny face page when I posted my comment. Try again. That really is a beautiful flower and does look hopeful. So glad you are getting some rain. Know you really need it.
ReplyDeleteYour Esperanza bush is beautiful... and yes, we need all the 'hope' we can get. And I too find it hard to find either gloves or masks made in the US...
ReplyDeleteHello, the yellow blooms are gorgeous. I would never find mask in the stores here. It seems like most things are made in other countries now. Wishing you a happy Mother's Day! Enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, SNOW in May! We had a ground covering last night. I brought the HB feeder in for overnight. No sightings this AM 8-\ Windy and snow flurries now. Beautiful flowering bush! I do like the close-up shot.
ReplyDelete11:30am Hummers came!! YAY!! 31°!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers and the photo of the Cardinal is gorgeous. Glad you found some masks!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you meant Tanager, instead of Cardinal. The semi truck was at the side of the building when I arrived, so I was hoping their shipment had masks. :-)
DeleteAlways beautiful things to see when I visit here.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous yellow flower blooms especially set against the brick.
You are such a busy lady...good for you Anni!
Stay Safe 🌷🐦☕🌞
Those cheery yellow flowers are beautiful . Yes, we still have hope and this will end in due time.
ReplyDeleteYour Esperanza bush is sooo pretty and I love the meaning.
ReplyDeleteGood for you in getting all that work done. It feels good, doesn't it?
I like those types of masks. They seem to make breathing easier than the cloth ones.
you boomers are shutting down the entire economy because you're afraid of a flu. Seriously, can you boomers kill yourselves? You are the most selfish generation to ever exist. You don't give a shit about climate change, why should we young people give a shit if you get sick and die of some virus? I HOPE the virus gets much stronger and kills you all.
ReplyDeleteDo you boomers realize how universally hated you are? There is not one single demographic that does not hate you- white people, black people, asians, mexicans, indians, chinese, millennials, GenX, GenZ. Something tells me that you boomers are not going to have a very comfortable or easy retirement, especially once you end up in the retirement homes.
Can you baby boomers hurry up and fucking drop dead? Enjoy your retirement homes cause we younger people will not take care of you even if we wanted to, due to the shitty economy you boomers created. Do you boomers realize that the younger generation is simply waiting for you to fucking drop dead?
You are all going to end up in retirement homes and we all know that the elderly gets treated pretty badly in retirement homes. Well, that's what you get for ruining your own children's lives. Even if your children WANTED to take care of you, they couldn't, due to you boomers destroying the economy. So I hope you enjoy the retirement homes, boomer scum!
Those yellow flowers are just simply gorgeous. Funny about the masks, I had ordered elastic to make masks...ordered it way back in March. It came day before yesterday....FROM CHINA!
