A Thank You Note and a Sunday Morning....

First off, before I get into typing up my post for the day, I received this cute thank you note from a long-time blogging buddy, Cecilia.  It was a nice surprise.  OH, and if you still want to visit with her and check out her scavenger hunt finds...be forewarned, this note reveals her macro mystery!!

I woke up way too early this morning, and had my online blog visiting done before breakfast. Now, in order to keep from falling asleep in the chair, I thought I'd do another post and get it pre-scheduled to post the next day. I plan on taking another walk this morning. I will try and continue walking/getting some exercise in the fresh air as long as they allow us to do so. Before it's a complete lock-down. Anyway, I took a stroll in parts, driving in other areas, along the park road in Calallen, Texas [this small burb has only one known case of the virus, and he has been quarantined, so I figured this is a pretty safe spot -even tho there is a slim chance of contracting the bug. Being that it's nearly isolated in the early morning hours on any given 'average' day. I kinda have in the back of my mind [even tho there is danger lurking everywhere these days, I would be more likely to get COVID19 in a grocery store with larger crowds]...

Here are a few photos from my walk along the park road. It rained heavily the previous night and everything was damp and the air chilly. As I turned the curve to drive along the river banks, the road was covered with Tree Swallows...a rarity seen except for this time of year. They are pretty swallows...a blue green back with a stark white contrasting belly. There were several juvenile swallows in the mix [they are all-over brown].   The 2nd photo -top right is the smaller of two ponds.  A flock of avocets took off, flying toward the river.  The third photo, middle row, left is a wooden observation deck where it over-looks the larger pond.  The middle right photo is standing water from the heavy rain, looking over the field where the river is in the backdrop.  The bottom left is part of the trail system thru the wooded section and the bottom right is taken from the road as I walked part of it, looking thru the palm [on Palm Sunday] and mountain cherry trees with a partial view of the larger pond.  Here, I could hear the click, click, clicking chirp from a kingfisher, but I couldn't find it...

  1. Honestly I think that getting out and getting some fresh air is better for us than being cooped up inside all day long. It's always a plus if you can go somewhere that you aren't going to run into other people :)

  2. Ya, me too. And it also lifts the spirits. As long as I remain symptom free, I keep a positive outlook.

  5. Nice! Get out while you still can! I saw where our parks have been closed down now. I definitely agree that you are much more apt to catch the virus in the grocery stores...

  6. It's really hard to know if one has the virus, since it's almost impossible to get tested, at least around here. But if I had it, the symptoms were very mild, and they are almost all gone now. We are recovering and being very careful not to possibly infect anybody else.

    1. My mom always said "What you don't know won't hurt you". Maybe that's the case with you

  7. What a lovely walk! I get outside and work in my gardens, weather and mood permitting. I hope to get out and start on an area this morning. It does feel wonderful to be outside, breathing fresh air, hearing the birds singing, smelling scents that are wafting in the air. Seeing colors and shapes and textures. Aaahhh! I need to get out there before it gets too warm or rains again. Want to make a little forward progress. ;-)

A seam ripper, and hand made also. I guessed a fountain pen. Oh well. Great fun was had with the scavenger hunt.

Have a great day whatever you do ~ FlowerLady

  8. we were just discussing the fact it has been more than 6 months, maybe 8 since we had standing water from rain... weather guy said we have had 8/10 of an inch in 6 months. yowsa... we are dry. I am exhausted by 9:30 am, been up since 4:30 and shopped senior hour at WM came home and put it all away. planted seeds by sprinkling in 4 pots and pouring water and stirring said seeds. wild flowers to see what will happen. I can water the pots but not the yard.... like you by 8 am I am done with blogging and doing more blogs.... I am dying for freedom..... minus germs. glad you got out and about and hope the germs did not find you. I pray I did not get any at WM

  9. Yes, I think many folks are having sleep issues so you're not alone, Anni. xoxo I can smell the glorious dampness in these pictures you posted... and it "smells" wonderful. When I got up this morning the sun was shining bright... when I fed my wildlife it was overcast... now as I type this the sun is shining again. Such is spring weather. Take good care. Love, Andrea xoxo

  11. Good for you! Our fresh air was taken in between the laundromat (not a soul was there except me) and the hometown market. Everyone was wearing a face mask in the market and we didn't feel out of place at all. The 6 ft. rule was also being observed and they weren't busy. Got everything on our short list too! Washed out our bandanas and they are blowing in the breeze on this sunny good day! Now to put it all away....

  13. Happy Tuesday Anni...
Ohh I'm so glad you like my email stationery. I've been very happy with it too. There is something for every event/person.
You had a very nice walk today. We are also still taking City Trails. Today we started what will be a trail of many posts. The NC Museum of Art is located about 3 miles from us. Moved from the hustle and bustle of downtown about 20 years ago. They have a huge trail system all around it with
out of doors art. Many hugs to you, your B and Isiah.

    1. Yes, your stationery is so darned cute! And,I continue to either walk in parks or drive the ranch roads (remaining in the car), just to get out of the house. I don't like being a shut in.

  16. I also think getting out and walking is a better alternative than sitting inside and worrying. You just walked into a paradise here. I guess the Kingfisher wanted to be heard and not seen.

    1. They are hard to find...the green ones tend to settle in the leaves (green) while the belted kingfisher perches on dead branches (gray).
