Several days ago Sandra showed us her beautiful bedroom decor, and a few times before in my blog I have mentioned that our master bedroom is "movie themed" being that this is, for the most part, where we have my collection of favorite movies and some memorabilia from some. I'll try and show you a few pieces here and there. Star Wars, Titanic, GWTW, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Wizard of Oz, Phantom of the Opera, Cars, Trilogy of Terror, Aliens, Corpse Bride, Pirates of the Caribbean, Chaplain, and more. Of course, my love of stuffed animals and book collecting shows up here and there also. The color is key lime green with matching curtains, the bedspread is called Green Rose Tree with a minty, lime shade of green with off white and shaded tan roses and rose vine. The bed is mahogany with rose wood woodwork.
This is my Gone With the Wind wall. How I got started on collecting anything about gone with the wind is the Atlanta 1939 playbill with an authentic certificate and supposedly a collector's item [seen in top paragraph]. From the playbill, the collection grew.
I have one movie that for the last 50 years has been my all time number one movie. It even surpasses Rhett and Scarlet!! And believe it or not it is a WESTERN. The other day I was at the grocery store, and moving my cart up to the cashier, I noticed a LIFE magazine, special edition, of the 50th anniversary issue of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. With the cover photo of the very same one I have that is a framed print from an art studio in Colorado. My heart leaped with joy. Into the cart it went. After getting the magazine home, I skimmed through it and found another photo I am gonna try and sketch. In the meantime, I'll show off my old [50 years now] pencil sketch of a caricature I drew in 1969 of BCSK....

I have more to come....
That is a classic! Louis Dean and I watched it a few days ago for the second time in less than 2 months! It never gets old. Last year on our way back from our Alaskan cruise, we stayed at a Boutique Motel in Oregon. Our room was a classic movie theater! It had theater seats, red velvet curtains, a neon exit sign and all the trimmings! They offered vintage movies to be played on their VHS machines. It was one of the highlights of our trip home!
ReplyDeleteThe closest thing I ever had to a movie theme was a poster of Johnny Dep as Captain Jack Sparrow. Alas, I had to take it down and throw it away due to his disrespect of our president. He lost a fan and that doesn’t matter the least bit to him, I’m sure.
I love your movie theme!!
DeleteI don't like J D either...I know, I'm fickle. I USED to adore him, but his ego/demeanor changed my views of him. Real quick.
What a neat idea for decorating your bedroom. I really like the shade of green you have on the walls.
ReplyDeleteYour sketch is fantastic.
Thanks
DeleteThat is wonderful! I love it. You are an excellent artist.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn.
DeleteYes, I agree that you are a true artist. I would have known who those people are without any clues. I like your GWTW corner very much. :-)
ReplyDeleteSome pieces are 'treasures' for me.
DeleteHow TOTALLY unique and wonderful, Anni! I love your bedroom... and the idea! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe both love movies...and watch 'em a lot in our bedroom.
DeleteYour text is so descriptive that I can imagine the view even without an image. That is an impressive collection and awesome sketch. Your personality is coming through strongly with it all.
ReplyDeleteI hope it's a pleasing personality. lol
Deleteyour sketch is amazing, I like it even more than your framed art pieces. what a great way to decorate a room. so much better than collectors who hoard so much they don't know what they have. decorating with your collection is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Bud thinks it's a bit over-kill.
DeleteYour sketch is awesome, and it captures their faces so well!! Hey, where's the rest of your bedroom? Maybe coming up next. I like your little director's thingy that they clap and yell "Cut!" This is a gorgeous picture of Scarlet!
ReplyDeleteA little bit more is coming. In the next post. Thanks Ginny.
DeleteReally liked your sketch of the "boys". What a cool bedroom you have--a real get away place with all your loves.
ReplyDeleteWatching my favorite movie while lying in bed makes it fun too. Thanks Patti.
DeleteYou aver cease to amaze me with all your talent. When talent was passed out, they jumped right over me.Great art. I have a lot of art work but did not do any of it. Keep on doing whatever you are doing as it seems to be working for you. No rain in sight for here for several days. In fact, this weekend, will be 107.
ReplyDeleteThanks. WAY too hot!
DeleteWhat a wonderful collection and so tastefully displayed. Very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThat was one of the first movies I ever saw. It's fun to see that cover shot again. And your sketch is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I LOVE that movie.
DeleteOh, how I wish I had an ounce of your talent....and I am most sincere when I say that.
ReplyDeleteWell thanks...but in retrospect, your quilting talent is to be admired!!
