The last couple of days, the weathermen have been informing us that there was/is a tropical wave in the Gulf heading into the Texas coast. And, that there would be some rain coming in with it. So far this week only the Houston area has received anything significant. Sunday, when I was out walking there was a threat of rain with heavy, dark, clouds, but within an hour's time it was clearing out. Until today. We did get some rainfall, and the sky is still overcast. Maybe some more moisture [much needed] will fall tonight or into tomorrow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed...even tho it'll be like a sauna outdoors, the ground is cracking...so, so dry.
Anyway, out walking Sunday morning. I carried my lensball with me since I had deep pockets in my Capri pants. And altho the water was high, there were a few wildflowers that turned out to be my subjects for the refractive photography. [Tuesday morning I took it with me on my walk along the shore, so more lensball photos to come]. After walking along the Indian Point and Sunset Lakes trail, driving home and over the harbor bridge, I pulled off the freeway to check out the rookery just under the causeway... and then took the detour road [I think I went the wrong way on a one way section...luckily, I got off before something drastic happened]....I checked out the progress of the billion dollar bridge being constructed. I will share those photos at a later date also. For Sunday, this is what I saw:

The "lakes".

The black mangrove is in bloom...this area is thick with mangrove. Also, the scent of the camphor [in bloom] was pretty strong.

Lensball Wildflowers
And Tuesday afternoon I took my latest sketch back out from my portfolio case and erased the little sail boat [from my previous post]. I didn't like it there in the picture. After erasing this boat, I then took out my #5 pencil and drew more cliffs on the horizon to cover up the faint outline left from the boat and added a lighthouse. I'm more satisfied with it now, and will put it back....

Hope you get the much needed rain. Loving all the photos.
ReplyDeleteThe first sketch was good but oh my yes, it looks so much better with the light house.
We really need some rain!
DeleteThanks Ann
Your pictures, as always, are so pretty of your neck of the woods, Anni. And your picture is much improved with the lighthouse, I agree. Not that it wasn't nice before, though. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks I like it much better
Deletethe before is beautiful to me, but i do like the after a little better.. i love the flowers in the lens ball. you reminded me i want cargo pants with lots of pockets.
ReplyDeleteI just donated an old ratty pair of cargo pants. I need to find a new pair for Fall/Winter. Thanks Sandra.
DeleteI have a thing for lighthouses so I will go with the second one. Love the lens ball with the wildflowers - so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday, Anni!
Thanks Veronica (I like lighthouses too.)
DeleteDo hope you get the rain you need. We need to dry up just a bit here. I definitely like the lighthouse better. It just fits and adds depth to the sketch.
ReplyDeleteWe got about 1/4 inch is all...thanks Patti.
DeleteI'm amazed that you can hold your lens ball in your fingertips and then take great photos. Do you know what it weighs? Mine weighs 2.4 lbs. and I can't hold it up very long. The change in your sketch is much more appealing.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea of its weight. When sent, Amazon had free shipping, so I paid no attention. Lol. It's about 3 (maybe 4) inches. And it IS heavy - when it's carried in my pocket it drags my pant waist down - I have to keep pulling them up.
DeleteThanks Ms. G
My brother made mine from a piece of crystal glass. He has made marbles and other spheres and they are superbly clear and not like the ones on the internet. BUT soooo heavy!
DeleteThis one I ordered was from a foreign land. ...and very clear also.
DeleteI like both sketches, but think the newest edit is the prettiest! I have a lens ball, but have not even tried it yet! Maybe today will be the day. I LOVE your lensball flowers!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny
DeleteLove your photos and this sketch is gorgeous. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth.
DeleteI always like your work with the lens ball and you are a true talent with your sketches.
ReplyDeleteThank you twice times, Michelle.
DeleteI always like your lensball shots. And your artwork is amazing!
ReplyDeleteAs always, many thanks!
DeleteLovely pictures! Nice work with the lens ball.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
DeleteI love both versions of your sketch. I so love the second photo of all the clouds.
