When in the middle of the day, I have not gone to walk, sometimes I drive to the very large cemetery in town. Why? Because it's quite a bit cooler when the days are hot and humid. The number of trees there, shade the drives and I can get my steps counted up and enjoy the slight breeze throughout. AND where there are trees, there are birds. This week, tho, very few birds at midday...so I decided to look up...watch the clouds drift by and enjoy nature in the quiet! Did I mention trees? So many different species of trees here in the cemetery, I couldn't begin to name them all. But, how 'bout looking around with me. You'd be surprised at what you can find in the solitude of a graveyard. Never fear....it's broad daylight....
First, a bit o' furry!

Look up! There are things you wouldn't think of...perhaps a gentle song from a windchime...
Heck, you may even spot a Christmas Ornament... [can you find it? hint: Norfolk Island Pine?]

Then a bit of odd-ology.. The likes of a tree sprout growing out of the fountain...or a knife stuck in a tree. Perhaps a lost, un-found Easter Egg, baby pine cones, or a beautiful fungus...

I've walked through a couple cemeteries around here but none have that many trees. You found some interesting things. The knife looks like it's been there a while. It looks like a steak knife and I just can't help wondering what someone would be doing in a cemetery with a steak knife.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but wonder too. Maybe dig up weeds around the plot? Needless to say, it's bizarre.
DeleteThat really is a beautiful mushroom fungus, Anni. Thanks for the great variety of pictures today. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for coming with me & keeping me company.
DeleteSuch a variety of trees! Wow.
ReplyDeleteSo many trees!
DeleteI am really fond of trees and all of these are beautiful. I love your found objects. you would not be cool in our cemeteries here, we are in the 90's and hardly any trees in any of them. there is one close by that has oak trees though. the most beautiful cemetery and trees I have ever seen is Bonaventure in Savannah GA. I used to take my mother and my children there to play in the shade of the trees and on the banks of the Savannah River. it is a stunning place full of statures and graves hundreds of years old as are a lot of the trees. my parents are buried there and many of my relatives. i enjoyed your visit to yours
ReplyDeleteSome think it weird to walk a cemetery...it's safer than city streets with all the maniacal drivers!
DeleteOh so varied and interesting photos today! You found unusual things in the cemetery. Have you ever done a grave rubbing? It was one of our 4-H projects years ago. (No damage is done to the gravestones.)
ReplyDeleteYes, I have! I have one stuffed in my published genealogy book! My great great grandfather. Civil War NY Infantry headstone
DeleteSounds like you found a great place to walk, shade, birds and even reading material if you like. I don't often find myself in a cemetery but on the occasion of attending a funeral I find myself reading the headstones. They really tell a story of someones life and I make sure I never step on one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment, I appreciate your visit!!
Have a great weekend!
Saimi
Hello! I'm glad you stopped to say hi.
DeleteWhat treasures you found! It is odd to me to see pine trees and palm trees growing together. I love walking through cemeteries. They are beautiful, quiet, and full of critters. I would love it if you walked through several and posted them all!
ReplyDeleteThis one I frequent 'cause I can easily get my 10k steps.
DeleteThere some beautiful trees.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
I like this area...BECAUSE of the trees.
DeleteCemetery walking is HUGE in the city-proper of our area. Hubby's mother still does it to this day at 93 years old. You're right... most cemeteries are tree-lined, paved, peaceful, dog-free, and wonderful places to walk. I always thought it was particular to our area but apparently not.... and I'm glad. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteI like the part...no traffic!
DeleteI did not expect all these trees....nor that knife! LOL
ReplyDeleteWeird, huh?
