Two Days of H E double L

Wow!!! The last couple of days have been a royal nightmare!! At least as far as the internet goes. Since we no longer have cable [going on 7 years now], I use our cellphone provider's hotspot when home, and wi-fi when out and about if need be. Or even the cellphone itself to login for emails and getting on blogger. Well, the last time I posted a blog, I was telling y'all about leaving comments in your blog comment form and not knowing if my comment went through, and that if there were repeated comments, I didn't know!!! So, after two days of getting disconnected after getting on a secure hotspot connection, and not being able to check emails either over the laptop or our phones...I called our cell phone carrier and got a REAL LIVE PERSON to chat with...after giving some info and discussing the disruptions for days...I'll call her M&M...she discovered that it was just in our area of the city, and they were repairing as we talked. GOOGLE  was even suspicious of my getting online/disconnected/logging in/disconnected all the time!! Come to find out, someone damaged a cell phone tower!! Lord have mercy. If I'd known that I would have gone to another part of town, like the library or Starbucks...somewhere, and did my blogging from there. Anyway, this morning, we watched a couple of TV programs over our hotspot, and everything is again, hunky dory!!! I hope...I haven't even tried to save this yet.

animation not mine - found thru google search engine.

  1. Goodness! Internet nightmares! When we are in the country - as we are now - we use two different hotspots. Needless to say it is a bit difficult to blog, post and comment! We do need our Internet connections to connect with one another! Great ideas about using Starbucks and such. My daughter, Amber, does a lot of her freelance writing assignments from her local Starbucks!

  2. Internet and computer issues are always frustrating. I've felt like that guy in the animation many times. I have never used my phone for a hotspot. I ditched my cable for tv but kept the internet. I never even thought I could use the phone.

    1. It depends on your service provider & carrier plan. Your cable connection may be a better deal.

  3. I would not want to live without wi fi... I could but I don't want to... I don't use my cell for anything but emergencies, a trafone. I rather have the home with 5 devices since I rarely go anywhere to need a cell phone..

  4. I have cable, still, and the high speed internet is great. It's certainly not cheap, but I use my phone for mostly everything else other than writing blogs and stuff. I tried once but it was impossible. I'm glad you are all hunky dory now, Anni! :-)

    1. When the hotspot is working, phone towers are 5G speed...just as fast as cable. And blogging is easy on a cell phone.

  6. We have cable and internet with Wi-Fi. + landline telephone. Love them all and need no more. We have a tracfone for car trips in case of breakdown. No problems here even when power goes out because we have stand-by generator. The laptop runs on the Wi-fi in the dining room or outdoor porch and the larger old iMac supplies that. Never have tried Wi-Fi out in public. Glad you're back in business!

    2. BTW...You can charge a phone or laptop on the car battery. No need for generator for those.

  7. Technology can be a real pain. I am glad you were able to get it all worked out. There is nothing I dislike more than having to talk to a tech rep on the phone.

    1. Once the tower was fixed (or do they replace them?)...all's well.

  8. Oh Anni, that man in the animation, is exactly as I feel many times. I had telephone cable internet connection for 20 years while I was married. Here in the mountains for the past two and a half years, connection can be a nightmare. At work I use a dongle and it works pretty well but you have to take care not to use up the data. I pay a fortune for it and my cell phone on a monthly basis . At home, I piggy back on my neighbor's landline cable - with their permission of course. I never have owned a TV so not fazed by lack of it at all. I'm glad you're back online. Have a great weekend. Jo

    1. After disconnecting cable tv, I wonder about people's fixation for the majority of programs. And commercials...don't get me started on that!

  9. I am amazed that you got to talk to a live person. I hope the probems are solved for good. For years, we had problems...during certain types of weather. I don't know how many times I called about it, and they would give me the old rigamarole on turning off and unplugging for so long, etc. etc. And I knew it was something more because it was always during a real windy, rain...finally, I happened to call them at the exact right moment and they could tell it was something with their equipment, sent someone out, and knock on wood no more of that problem. We get kicked off for a minute here and there, but only for a minute.

    1. That happened to us with cable...winds blew our cable to the house loose...everytime the wind was strong connection was sporadic.
