Les Miserable Here...Quite So!!!

It's February already...my 70th birthday in 8 days [on the 9th]. I don't feel that age at all...closer to 90. [kidding]

Well, short of sounding like a broken record, it rained here all day yesterday…again. I confess, it’s getting very old! I want sun!!

And as the drizzling drops of dreary continued to fall, I made us a crock pot of chili for dinner. We’ll have chili coming out of the wazoo now. I’m sure I’ll end up freezing most of it. It’ll be good for this damp weather mood I’ve been in.   Altho, it’s not cold. The early morning temp on Thursday was in the high 50 degree range, and it climbed to mid 60s. But, I’m not much on walking [or singing] in the rain. Gene Kelly, I’m not.

Been doing a little more cleaning. Waxing picture frames, cleaning the glass on each frame…then, I did my bi-yearly chore of cleaning the walk in closet. Getting things picked out to go out in bags for donating. I did drive to the store to drop those bags off, and as usual, they have you walk through the store, to the back, to donate. I spotted a framed piece of art that depicts a favorite part of our country…for me, anyway. New Orleans’ French Quarter. I brought it home with me, along with a couple more $1 items…

To keep myself busy, I’ve also been rounding up papers for income tax filing in a couple of months. That’s simple, but still a chore I never look forward to doing.

After my rant on this miserable weather, I thought it best to leave a little smile....

  1. Lack of sun always leaves me feeling a bit grumpy and sluggish. We've had sun the past two days but the temps are so cold you still can't stay out long.
Chili sounds good, I haven't had that in a very long time.

    1. Ya, no below freezing here. Thank goodness. I had enough of that in the 50 years living in Colorado.

    2. Happy Birthday month!! Hope you have a happy, healthy year #70!!
I hear ya’ about the rainy, dark days. We want sunshine!!
We have been slowly working on cleaning out the garage. I do it midwinter because it is too hot in the summer.
      Have a great weekend.

  2. We've had several rain-free days, but now it's starting up again. At least we dodged it during yesterday's hike! Someone is looking out for us. :-)

  3. I love that photo of the tree in the park. While you've been having rain, we've been having snow and record-setting cold temperatures here in Indiana. It's warmer today, with more snow falling. But it's supposed to be downright balmy by Sunday. You stay dry, and I'll work on staying warm.

  4. Your thrift store has better stuff than ours does, according to what I see you bought! I'm all for donating but never anything dirty or damaged. THAT is a treasure tree!

I would be sick of the rain and whining loudly. hope the sun comes out this week end. ours came out today and we are supposed to be summer all of the next week starting tomorrow. hope it doesn't get to hot, 78 is what they say which is not good this month of the year. but it is what it is so weill turn off the heat and turn on the ac.

  6. I love the smiling tree! How on earth did you find it? Happy birthday in advance! We are the exact same age, born in 1949! My 70th will be next month. Where do you donate? We go to Goodwill, they have drive-thru donating. I love the French Quarter picture, I would for sure have bought it myself. I think my favorite picture is the very first one,of the people standing on the shore with the birds above. I love all the misty photos!!

    1. I think it's a Texas chain thrift store...family thrift. I go there 'cause it's closest to home. We have drop boxes for Goodwill around town, but I don't do that or Salvation Army. As for the tree, I can't remember which park I was at.

  7. We had lots of rain in Mid January then the deep freeze came. Of course our teen temp mornings and 30's in the day were darn right balmy compared to the midwest and north east. Today it is 55 and we might have 70 by Tuesday. Just plain crazy weather.
When I retired I told myself no need going out in bad, cold, wet, freezing weather ever again. Most chores can wait til a better day. We will venture out by necessity on Grocery day no matter the weather

    1. That's just how I feel. No need to fight crazy drivers when getting out in traffic is unnecessary.

  9. So ,you are only a few months older than I am. I guess I would take the rain over some of the cold weather we've been having. But then, we always want what we don't have.
