Can Spring Be Far Away?

Another drab, wintry day here in South Texas. There was a cold front that moved into our area early this morning. When I got up from my long winter's nap it was 71 degrees. By breakfast time an hour later, it was 49 degrees. A thick mist falling from the gray sky and the wind was blowing. I am really tired of this season. It's been way too long since we've had a decent week of sunny weather that lasts more than a few hours!!! I want Spring to arrive...like, yesterday.

I was at Hobby Lobby the other day, with the intent of buying a couple of wrought iron stakes to hang my humming bird feeders. Usually I have them hanging from the eave of the house. This year I am gonna have them all within a 'birding feeder station'...in one area. Anyway, at Hobby Lobby I bought a small bird house plus two iron stakes. All natural wood. In hopes that maybe a sparrow [Lincoln Sparrow is pictured above] will occupy it this year. That'll give me something to watch...I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

...And since it's so yucky outdoors; nothing but browns, grays and darker gray, I did some archive search for colorful flowers to brighten my day....

Honestly?  I know just why it's a miserable day with rain!!!  Bud and I removed the hurricane shutters yesterday and washed windows!!!!!  That'll do it every time.  Lo and behold, I can see clearly now.

    1. Most definitely a 'different' winter. But I really shouldn't complain comparing us with those in the north/east.

  3. Hello Anni!:) I feel the same way, just fed up with the cold rainy weather. It's lovely to see some colourful flowers from your archives, they have brightened my day too, and I like your wooden bird house. Lets hope some birds take a fancy to it. Roll on Spring!

  6. The bird house should be a comfortable home for some lucky bird family. I am ready for spring too, but would settle for temperatures that were just a little warmer than what we've been having.I think it's getting colder every year and that can't have anything to do with the fact that I'm getting older.LOL

  7. and now you can see that rain clearly. bob swears everytime he washes his truck it rains the next day. we are having warmer than usual here and i am fussing about it. 80 every day, wake up to 66 and up to 80. but i am glad it is sunny not gray... i enjoye our winter because i don't like heat or cold, and our winter is right smack in between, but not now. nothing was as it used to be the past 2 years. some how i thought you would be the same as we are

  10. Spring should be here soon, especially for you. It is going to be 62 here tomorrow, and then ice starting tomorrow night through Saturday night. I don't mind the cold. Keeps the rattlesnakes and copperheads away during my geocaching.
