I mentioned I stopped along the road and rolled the window down to get photos of the beautiful sunrise on Sunday morning. I was headed to Port A, on Mustang Island. As I watched the clouds driving over JFK Causeway, I put a little bit more weight on the accelerator to get on the highway so I could pull over safely. After taking a couple of photos with the pinks and lavenders reflecting on the water's surface, I drove on to the first beach access road and stopped at the barricades [high tide was keeping vehicles from entering], and climbed over the sandhills to snap more of the red orange glow in the sky. As the minutes passed, the water became silver while the sun; golden...

After my disappointing revelations of the two birding areas, I then drove to the beach and jetty. At this hour there were many, many fishermen, both the two legged kind AND the feathered kind. I preferred watching the feathered kind! Along the shore there was a bucket with live bait [small fish] - the curious snowy egret was trying to figure out how to get them from the bucket! It was comical...

Snowy Egret [note...laying on the sand is another bird...a sandpiper]

Great Blue Heron

Osprey
Dunno if this couple was lucky catching anything [I'm not a fan of fishing - it gets to be boring after a while], but the other couple I spotted was busy with an activity I enjoy more...hunting for shells. And look at their shell baskets!!

The reflection of the fishing couple is super! The sunrise over the water is gorgeous!! Not silver, but platinum! It is hard to choose a favorite from the first two...I love the bit of pink reflected in the water.
ReplyDeletePlatinum...good descriptive word. I like it. Thanks Ginny
DeleteSuper ones today!! I love the sunrises here in Florida...especially this time of year with the cooler weather moving in. The darker grays against the pinks..nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr. B
DeleteI love your sunrise pictures. The second one looks like a crested bird to me. And those are definitely perfect shell baskets! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt DOES!!!
Deletelove that last shot of the pumkin shell hunters. the first 2 sun shots are wonderful. the silvery water is just stunning. there is nothing like a sunrise to me, my favorite time of the day. the lady fisher person looks bored to me. I have never liked fishing, it is boring and I don't like hooking a fish, hubby likes to fish and release and I say WHY, all you do is hurt the fish and let it go. there are only 3 types of fish I eat and they are deep sea, can't be caught from land. daddy used to eat whatever he caught, but mother made burgers for me and my brother because we refused the fish
ReplyDeleteI like salmon, trout and shrimp...that's about it. I too favor early mornings.
DeleteBeautiful mornings! You captured them perfectly! I see a swimming bird in the first pictures. Do you see it? All of my family are fishers. Yes, all but me. Even the nieces, nephews and grandchilden. I have in mind a slide show to make of the recent ones.
ReplyDeleteEarly in the morning, I'm reading this, and I thought you meant a swimming bird....literally! I searched and searched and then realized you meant the cloud formation. Duh.
DeleteThanks Ms. G
Hello Anni, love the sunrise images. Gorgeous captures. Happy Wednesday, enjoy your day!

DeleteBeautiful sunrise photos. I’m not a fisherman either although I love to eat someone else’s catch!
ReplyDeleteNice bird photos. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Thanks...hope your day has been good!
DeleteYou had me at your first photo, knowing once I opened your post you would not disappoint me with what was to follow. Even on bad days of weather or other things, you always offer great captures and jolly humor!
ReplyDeleteWow...thanks karen.
DeleteBeautiful shots of the sunrise. I've never been a fan of fishing. I can't sit still doing nothing that long. I would be bored out of my mind. Hunting for shells would be fun though. I like their shell buckets
ReplyDeleteMe too...boring...yep!
DeleteThe sunrise pictures are just stunning.I would rather collect shells than fish as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks...you & me, both!
DeleteThose shell baskets are appropriate for the season!
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteWow - what a beautiful sunrise! I love the egret shots too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mari
DeleteTo me fishing and reading goes together...There been time I hope the fish weren't bitting. Coffee is on

DeleteGreat sky photos. I like fishing okay it is just I like doing other things more. I love your outings.
ReplyDeleteThanks Yogi.
DeleteWhat a fabulous sunrise! The colors and auras are so beautiful. I used to fish when I was a tomboy :) Every morning at sunrise in the summer I would pack my lunch and head out to the little lake with my two girlfriends. We would fish all day - just for fun. We always threw them back. I can't say why it was so much fun, but it kept me out of trouble! I don't think I would enjoy baiting a hook today, but you know how much kids love slime. Haha! Love those seashell gathering buckets! x K
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, going on fishing trips, I used to make my dad so upset....my favorite pastime was throwing rocks in the lakes/rivers.
