This will be the last of the Port Aransas Series of photos. Not many words are needed to be added...the debris, damage, speak volumes!!

Once a clean, pristine area between the jetty and Magee Beach Pier the beach was filled with debris and thousands of tiny micro species and broken shells. Of course what the sea gives, it also takes away.

Above, this pier used to have a housing unit at the end [seen HERE from a previous post]. It belongs to the Marine Science Institute of Texas. This area is where the ARK [injured animal recovery and rehabilitation] is located. The building, that was once there...no longer exists. I couldn't get that close, so I don't know if the building is in the channel water or was washed out completely.

these photos are just to sad for words, especially the first one. I am in full Chicken Little Fret Mode waiting for Irma to hit us...
ReplyDeleteBe safe in wake of Irma, Sandra!
DeleteYou're in my thoughts.
It is such a terrible thing. However, seeing it first hand is more tragic. So glad you were spared the worst.
ReplyDeleteSo am I.
DeleteAwful, just awful. Your photos show only a part of the real thing - I don't know how you can stand seeing this devastation and IT is not finished wreaking havoc yet. Yes I mean the weather.
ReplyDeleteIrma is scary to be sure.
DeleteI have nothing to add, but thank you for showing us the sadness you saw.
ReplyDeleteI do know one thing....we all must move on and life continues. Right?
DeleteJust unbelievable how horrible this weather is turning. Now with Irma and Jose behind her. God Bless everyone at this time. Your photos sure do speak volumes.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit Karen.
DeleteHow devastating! And I hate to think what happened to those poor animals in ARK. The bridge is broken totally in half.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could've walked up closer to the broken pier! But danger lurked everywhere.
DeleteSo sad.
ReplyDeleteThat it is...and for a long time to come!
DeleteOh my. So much damage. Very sad
ReplyDeleteWhat a mess...it will be a huge job to get things back in any order.
ReplyDelete...and a very long time!!
DeleteOh wow. What a mess.
ReplyDeleteYes, and I am sure it was worse before the clean-up started.
DeleteSo very sad. Now my sights are on Florida, where my sister lives. It's all so scary, and with wildfires in our area, earthquakes in Mexico, and these hurricanes one right after the other, I want to get through this awful time to the other side. Thanks for the update, even though it makes me cry. :-(
ReplyDeleteYour sister, Norma...is in my thoughts. Hope Irma doesn't do her harm in any way.
