...Arriving at the Jetty through the fog, and after watching those surfing the waves, I walked back to the beginning of the jetty and climbed down off the walkway to stroll along the shoreline. At times I looked out to the sea, other times I watched the gulls and terns as they fed along the sand and ebbing tide. Other times I looked down on the saltwater washed beach in search of a pretty shell or a whole sand dollar. In December and early January, along the Texas Coast, the chances of finding the larger shells or sand dollars is much higher than any time of year...
[the photos of gulls & terns are COLOR...just a gray day!]

...When I saw this egret atop the sandbar, looking out to the sea, a song came to mind. From the movie The Resucers [long ago - 1977], when Penny was singing. "I'm lost at sea without a friend This journey, will it ever end? Who will rescue me?"

ReplyDeleteHappy knowing you enjoyed this today, Gingi.
DeleteSuch beautiful photos!! They belong in a coffee table book.....
ReplyDeleteAwwww, shucks Linda, thanks!!
DeleteBeautiful shells! I am interested, because I collect shells. So did you take any? Will they let you?
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't take any....but yes, you can pick up a truck load of shells if you wish...each day a new supply washes ashore.
DeleteThe shells remind me of a trip with my family at Christmas when I was about 7. We collected shells and brought home a whole bunch of them.
ReplyDeleteI've emailed pictures from my phone to myself in the past so I should have thought of that. Thanks for reminding me
Yep. I do that a lot, it's easier on the nerves to just email the images instead of putting up with Google sometimes.
DeleteHello Anni, the shells are beautiful. I have been looking for a sand dollar. Love the shorebirds, the terns are one of my favorites. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy day and weekend. Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteThanks....and you too have a wonderful day.
DeleteAs always, I love to walk the beach with you. That WAS a gray day, with the birds. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt was mighty gray and drizzly.
DeleteI love the gulls in the fog and the close up of the gulls wings. so beautiful. odd how things pop us back in time to songs or other memories. our beaches are pretty much shelled out here.
ReplyDeleteThis is one time of year that shells are aplenty on our coast.
DeleteHello Anni!:) Love your birds in the mist shots and the one of the Egret looking out to sea. I don't know the song but so often songs spring to mind when something triggers off a memory. I like the pretty shells you found. I also collect shells, and thought of sharing some in one of my posts one day, and would love to see your collection.:)
ReplyDeleteOh do share, I'd love to see your collection.
DeleteOnce upon a time I could name every shell that ever washed up on the SC beach. I even know some of yours. Wonderful to walk again with you. Love the egret shot.
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite photos, thanks Ms. G
