Here and There, Over Yonder, This and That...

Up on a grassy knoll, near where the river drains into the north bay, I spied this beautiful scene. I had to pull off onto the shoulder amid heavy trucking traffic, behind the oil refineries, and snap a few photos...

After heavy rains, the Texas Sage Bush in our yard blooms. It attracts bees!!!

- - -

Up on the housetop the herons land. Look closely at the next to last image of the house's widow walk - above the treetop to the far left...

- - -

...we've had a lot of temperamental sky drama the last couple of weeks!!

- - -

I drew this. And I entitled it 'READ MY LIPS'

At the time of the showings on TV, I didn't get to view NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, and GRIMM finales. I watched them online last week. Special Agent DiNozzo is now a father and has left the program all together. I will miss him surely, but perhaps this program also needs a 'face lift'. NCIS New Orleans was good...keeping my interests piqued. GRIMM finale was twisted...as has been the whole season. About mid way through their 22 episodes I was pretty well disgusted with the way the writers handled the stories...I was ready to stop watching, but still watched each episode hoping it would get better. For the most part, no, I remained disappointed. The two part finale was a bit far fetched...yet, even tho NBC has given GRIMM 13 more episodes in the 2016/17 season to wrap things up and give closure to its loyal fans, I am sure I won't miss the program once canceled. And speaking of television programs, Bud came home the other day with a DVD set of a cute program from long ago, about a Canadian Royal Mounted Police living in Chicago and his sidekick, Diefenbaker [1/2 wolf; pronounced DEEF en bacher].   I will always remember the 'dog'...he was my favorite character with such a personality!!  DUE SOUTH, we're watching them now.

I also watched Purple Rain while catching up on laundry Saturday afternoon. Sad Prince died at such a young age.

  1. I have lost interest in NCIS since Ziva left the show. I guess I'll have to watch the finale to find out how it ended. Hope DiNozzo is a better dad than his own was. :-)

  3. Beautiful scenery around your way. Loved seeing the cows, especially the calf looking back at you. The flowers were beautiful with their little visitors. I don’t think I have ever seen a heron perched on the top of a house like that. Beautiful and dramatic skies. And as for “Read My Lips”, well, you are one talented lady. It is spot on and it made me laugh, thank you for that. I have only watched GRIMM a few times, it did not grab me. I stopped watching NCIS but did read about the ending. I stopped watching after Diva(?) left the show. Maybe I’ll catch up with the re-runs. NCIS New Orleans seems a good show and I liked the characters. I am not sure why I stopped watching that one too. When it was on I loved Due South and loved the Mounty and his dog :) I agree about Prince, very sad! Well, I will finish off by wishing you a great weekend.

  4. Golly gee that Heron is very well balanced on those long legs..wonder if he practices Yoga!
Texas must have had 2 years worth of rain since last fall. You all must be saturated. We have rain today thanks to Bonnie.

DiNozzio aka Michael Weatherly had a new show this fall call Bull. He is a doctor Supposedly it loosely based on Dr. Phil which I don't watch. We'll see how it does.
    Happy Memorial Weekend

    1. I read that about Tony...I don't think it'll do much and be dropped all too quickly. Everyone is gonna expect DiNozzo [like all the cast from Friends]...Indeed we've had buckets of rain this year. Don't know which is worse, the drought we had before or this?

  5. Hi Anni, I LOVE your newest profile photo. I think you would make an awesome neighbor ;) I am catching up after many weeks of ill woes pitching me hither and yonder. Your Great Blue Heron is wonderful as are the images of the cattle. While I have visited, I also checked out your Broad winged Hawk...stunning birds, aren't they!!! Have a lovely weekend, and take good care~

I saw the finale of NCIS. I wonder what they'll do with it next year. I'll miss DiNozzo, and we also thought Ziva had an attitude.

  10. I'm really enjoying the rain. I wish it would rain all summer. Medina Lake got a lot I hear and that is so good because we saw it down to a puddle. Of course I don't relish seeing people having to be rescued and their homes damaged. Enjoy your Memorial Day tomorrow and Good Bless the people who served our country.

  15. You covered a lot in this blog! Your drawing is great! Sorry, but do NOT like the Grimm's tales done this way. Old authentic Grimm stories are my treasures. There is way more in them than most people understand. Switched to NCIS New Orleans now and like it very much.

    1. Well, Grimm FAIRYTALES are good too. But the program I think isn't really supposed to be 'true' in that sense. Oh yes, I too like NCISNO...it's got one good character...LaSalle. lol

      Thanks Ms. G

  16. The heron on the widows walk is wonderful; glad you looked up. He has quite the perch. Looks pretty around your area this time of year -- hope you haven't experienced any of the terrible rains.

I think you could be a political cartoonist -- I'm thinking those guys might be the only ones who are really happy about the way this election is shaping up -- all three candidates are highly caricaturable (I just made that word up). Personally I am sick about it.

The phrase 'grassy knoll' still conjures up sad memories for me. (I remember that I didn't know what a 'knoll' was when the assassination happened, so I had to look it up. (We have big mountains in the Pacific Northwest, not knolls and we hadn't traveled yet back then!)

    1. The primaries, the soon to be nomination, and then the campaigning this time 'round is gonna be a big farce I predict. Just hope that the RNC will NOT go into a brokered convention and split the party.

      Thanks Sallie.
I'm not sure what you meant with the 'assissination' tho.

  30. What wonderful shots of the Herons on the Widows outlook. Very cool sky shots too. - I was rather disappointed in the NCIS finale as I didn't think they needed to kill of Ziva. Who knows I've heard the actor say he'll do guest spots on the show & in TV people who have supposedly died often reappear.
