“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

Duck, Duck...Goose - And Rooster AND Gulls

I'm gonna resort to a few fun photos. And probably some more chit chat. People from all around stop by with their children to make use of the park, playground and most families bring along some snacking foods for the gulls, ducks and geese. Eventually, out of nowhere a few pigeons arrive to dine.

Nearby, a family residence has chickens and peacocks, the hens and roosters sometimes surmise the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, so they venture out of their yard and head for the morsels in the park's lawn so very near the resident Muscovy ducks!! Did you know Muscovy ducks are mostly 'silent' ducks. They don't quack but usually hiss or make a more inner-grunting.

In the following photo, this instance reminded me of the Adam Sandler song..."Lunch Lady Land"....
The ducks are all lined up in the lunch line where kids on the bank of the pond had finished feeding them some bread...a favorite meal!! Sorry, we're out of meatloaf...come again soon. Next time we'll be serving sloppy joes.

LUNCH LADY LAND Lyrics

It's now August!! Autumn is fast approaching. But of course, we still have to get through more Summer heat. And, each year, on the first day of August, Bud and I go on a witch hunt!! That is, the store Tuesday Morning always begins selling their witches!!! We bought three. I'll show them in another post when it gets closer to my favorite holiday...Halloween. Speaking of Halloween...I have a question for anyone that would like to give me some input. When you were a youngster or teen...did you ever go on a scavenger hunt when attending a party? I thought that maybe I'd make a list for an Autumn/Halloween themed PHOTO SCAVENGER HUNT. And there would be a prize for one lucky participant....

WOULD YOU BE UP FOR PLAYING?
Let me know. I'd be more than happy to make a list for you to 'hunt' for the items on the list for a 'door prize'!!!

And lastly today, we saw Mission Impossible this weekend. As much as I dislike Tom Cruze [spelling intentional], the movie wasn't half bad. In fact, I was a bit impressed. Loved the car/motorcycle chase...those chases really get my adrenaline pumping...always!! And the star wasn't all that egotistical this time around...shocking!!  The very last line in the movie:  "Welcome to IMF Mr. Secretary"....loved it.  And then of course the sweet theme song plays!!  It's been a favorite soundtrack of mine for decades!!   If you're liking a good action flick, it's worth seeing. At least when it comes out in DVD. Oh, and speaking of DVD, NCIS New Orleans [and the last season of NCIS] comes to store shelves on August 18th. Can't wait! At least for the New Orleans 1st season.

  4. We still go to our park to fee the ducks. They even come to meet us now. Recently one of my daughter's classmates told me on Facebook she enjoyed a scavenger hunt I had for my daughter's birthday party when they were in school. I've been lost all week-end in Windows 10. I hated it. So glad I was able to go back to 8.1.

    1. Oh I really, REALLY like Windows 10! Windows 8.1 should have never been marketed in my opinion I always liked to participate in hunts.

  6. Hello! I hope all is well. It doesn't much matter which side of the fence is greenest because the top of the fence is what's the coolest! They are all lined up for something. Beautiful captures, you always please us with your lens.

  7. Great photos as usual. I drove by a local spot over the weekend where seagulls hang out and enjoyed seeing them lined up on the railings. I had to wonder if they all spread their wings so they're all a wing span away from the bird next to them :)

  14. That beautiful Muscovy reminded me of one that used to be a friend to many and then one night some mean spirited person did him in. The good people where he lived gave him a very proper burial though. That Rooster is quite the beauty. I used to do scavenger hunts and have made lists for the grandsons to do, not sure how it would work for an online blog though, hmm~

      Don't laugh, but the first time I saw a Muscovy Duck I thought it had cancer or something contagious. I steered clear.

    I'm always up for a good photo scavenger hunt. I'm just participating in Rinda's Summer photo scavenger hunt which has been fun (this is the third or fourth time I'm joining), but I think a autumn and Halloween themed one would be great as well.

  34. I know this is BAD....but my favorite bird this week was the rooster! I know! :-) Anyway, the geese and ducks coming for a meal of bread tossed out by the children reminded me so much of my childhood. Whenever we would drive from Bainbridge MD to Washington DC, we had a favorite place to stop for a lunch and we children loved to feed the ducks and geese stale bread.

    I would be up for a scavenger hunt, I think. I TRIED to get a shot of something in nature with my initial, and that didn't work. Maybe I'll have better luck with something else. :-) By the way, just got Wesley the Owl!
