We headed for Packery Channel for our morning walk this past weekend. When we arrived at the parking lot, there were already dozens of vehicles there. That explains the deserted highway we just experienced...they beat us there! The beach near the end of the jetty walkway was a bit crowded. Most of them were either surfing, fishing, or carrying the net trash bags cleaning up the beaches of litter. We had plans to walk the entire length and just enjoy the surroundings and watch for dolphins, birds, and turtles, all the while allowing the railroad vine blossoms to awaken our senses, along with the gently swaying of the sea oats to calm our senses. Guess you could then assume, we're not a senseless couple [snort]...
In the far distance, I spotted a couple dune fencing photo ops and zoomed in. Then the iron fencing along the jetty walkway...
The sky was gorgeous. Such a deep blue; the sunlight outlining the massive cloud formation that reminded me of drifting smoke. The seagulls-some even asked to have their photo taken while soaring just above the water's surface...
...the fishermen, boaters, surfers, jet skiers, the beach clean-up, the birds [of course]...
From Sea to Shining Sea, this is what America is all about....and most will be celebrating America's freedom...and a lot will end up fishing and surfing during our Independence Weekend Holiday. Happy 4th of July America!!!!

Wonderful pictures, Anni. I love all the beach pictures but I couldn't help but think about sharks when I saw those people in the water. It's not happening in your area, though, is it? :-)

Deletebeaching it is our favorite thing to do.. but not on holidays... i love those flowers on the beach and your beaches looks just like ours, all these photos could have been taken here... we share opposite sides of the Gulf of Mexico. 3 days ago a woman and a man in a jeep drove out on our beach and on purpose drove over and killed 2 big cranes and ran their wheels over all the marked turtle nest, they destroyed them. there is a 3000.00 reward out for info to catch them....

ReplyDeleteYes, Orange Grove Rd...those two orange slices (the big one and the bus stop...there are several of the latter, but I only photographed one) are new on that stretch of road. My daughter told me about them. Leave it to Tucson to do things up right, and in an artistic way! :-) Glad I can dredge up some good memories for you from time to time.
Indeed....you do....and I enjoy 'going back home' with your post now and then!! I really like the idea of those orange slice benches. Now that you mention it tho, those railroad vines/blossoms DO look like petunias....I am reminded of morning glories since the only open during the morning hours and close during the heat of the day....like a morning glory.

DeleteWe actually have those ground vines growing here. They do remind me of morning glories and I've always wondered what they are. I read Sandra's comment about her beach and the awful things that couple did. Seriously, how do you purposely run over live birds and destroy turtle nests? Some people are just sick. What you do have and what will draw me down there someday is wildlife ... so many beaitiful birds and then even a dead fish from time to time, Ha! Love your posts and enjoy you ...

That was one reason we didn't relocate down here when Bud and I retired....hurricanes. Then, the white hot heat of the desert changed our minds. It took us a decade before we said, "The heck with it"...and moved here. I couldn't be happier...until a storm heads our way...then a 'nother scenario in my way of thinking, I'm sure.
