We headed for Packery Channel for our morning walk this past weekend. When we arrived at the parking lot, there were already dozens of vehicles there. That explains the deserted highway we just experienced...they beat us there! The beach near the end of the jetty walkway was a bit crowded. Most of them were either surfing, fishing, or carrying the net trash bags cleaning up the beaches of litter. We had plans to walk the entire length and just enjoy the surroundings and watch for dolphins, birds, and turtles, all the while allowing the railroad vine blossoms to awaken our senses, along with the gently swaying of the sea oats to calm our senses. Guess you could then assume, we're not a senseless couple [snort]...

In the far distance, I spotted a couple dune fencing photo ops and zoomed in. Then the iron fencing along the jetty walkway...

The sky was gorgeous. Such a deep blue; the sunlight outlining the massive cloud formation that reminded me of drifting smoke. The seagulls-some even asked to have their photo taken while soaring just above the water's surface...

...the fishermen, boaters, surfers, jet skiers, the beach clean-up, the birds [of course]...
From Sea to Shining Sea, this is what America is all about....and most will be celebrating America's freedom...and a lot will end up fishing and surfing during our Independence Weekend Holiday. Happy 4th of July America!!!!

More photos for the weekend....Willet following the incoming sea's current catching crustaceans for breakfast. Below, the one skinny, long, narrow fish with a sharp nose....that is called a needlefish in case you wanted to know. I didn't, had to look it up on Google. lol

DeleteLooks like a wonderful place to take a walk, very sensible! Great fence shots too.
ReplyDeleteIt's always a nice walk...short, but nice. Unless we walk part of the beach while there...this day, we didn't.
DeleteWonderful images from the beach. The flowers are lovely. And the sky captures are beautiful. It is nice to see the woman on litter patrol on the beach. Great fence finds. Enjoy your day and happy 4th of July!
ReplyDeleteIt's a never ending 'patrol'...always lots of trash on this particular beach...it's VERY popular. [the beach, not the trash]
DeleteThanks Eileen, and have a happy 4th too.
Wonderful pictures, Anni. I love all the beach pictures but I couldn't help but think about sharks when I saw those people in the water. It's not happening in your area, though, is it? :-)
ReplyDeleteBud and I have seen shark 'fins' while walking along the shores...but as far as attacks go....none here that I've heard about.
Deletereally great shore scenes! love the metal fencing with the 'o' pattern with the ocean spray behind it. :) thanks, anni!

ReplyDelete...'salty sandy sniff'....I like that reference.
Deletebeaching it is our favorite thing to do.. but not on holidays... i love those flowers on the beach and your beaches looks just like ours, all these photos could have been taken here... we share opposite sides of the Gulf of Mexico. 3 days ago a woman and a man in a jeep drove out on our beach and on purpose drove over and killed 2 big cranes and ran their wheels over all the marked turtle nest, they destroyed them. there is a 3000.00 reward out for info to catch them....
ReplyDeleteOH my!!! That was something TERRIBLE they did. Hope to God they catch them.
DeleteWow Hootin Annie this is a very interesting and beautiful post . the photos are gorgeous and inviting. The iron fence is cool. Thank you for the morning smile. Hug B

ReplyDeleteGlad you came along on our walk, Mari.
DeleteThanks for taking us along. What a busy beach with a lot of things to see.
ReplyDeletethe 'action' and people seen is nothing compared to what it's like later in the day.
DeleteYou know I love your photos, but I am so taken by the flowering vine on the beach. It is just beautiful. Wow!!
ReplyDelete...thanks Terri. They ARE beautiful in the early morning light. Reminds me of morning glories.

ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! I love being so near the coast, I can't picture myself landlocked any more. In fact, I wouldn't WANT to be.
DeleteLovely blooms, how wonderful to be so close to the sea. the needle fish looks interesting.Google is so handy isn't it!
ReplyDeleteIt IS great living by the sea...at least 'til there is a tropical storm/hurricane brewing out there!
DeleteLove the cloud formation and the seagulls! Looks like a great place to walk!
ReplyDeleteIt is a nice place when quiet and no crowds.
DeleteYou certainly took us on a beautiful stroll and captured some stunning scenes.
ReplyDelete...glad you enjoyed the stroll with us!!
DeleteSuch great photos, Anni! Love that gorgeous purple petunia! And the beach scenes and sky shots are so amazing! I really love the one sky and water shot with the single gull. Great shots of all, though. I am glad you got there and had a great day. Happy Fourth to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteYes, Orange Grove Rd...those two orange slices (the big one and the bus stop...there are several of the latter, but I only photographed one) are new on that stretch of road. My daughter told me about them. Leave it to Tucson to do things up right, and in an artistic way! :-) Glad I can dredge up some good memories for you from time to time.
Indeed....you do....and I enjoy 'going back home' with your post now and then!! I really like the idea of those orange slice benches. Now that you mention it tho, those railroad vines/blossoms DO look like petunias....I am reminded of morning glories since the only open during the morning hours and close during the heat of the day....like a morning glory.
DeleteGreat advice and some wonderful shots, girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda....happy 4th...try and stay cool!!
DeleteWe actually have those ground vines growing here. They do remind me of morning glories and I've always wondered what they are. I read Sandra's comment about her beach and the awful things that couple did. Seriously, how do you purposely run over live birds and destroy turtle nests? Some people are just sick. Your photos are lovely, especially the sky and the birds. Happy 4th! Tammy
ReplyDeleteHappy 4th to you too Tammy, and thanks for sharing the recipe link! I'm gonna try it. Hopefully, sooner than later.
DeleteMorning glory and sea outs...remind me of Jekyll Island when I was little.
ReplyDelete~
Yep, they love sand, and island atmosphere.
DeleteSea oats, that is...
ReplyDelete~
yep....figured that "out" already. LOL
DeleteHappy 4th of July to you. I just remember I was in Canada during your Bicentennial, and watching American TV.
ReplyDeleteI reposted my Lemon tree blog post, and saw the old post I did with your song meme.
Hello Ann...nice seeing you here!!!
DeleteLovely set of photos, Anni!
ReplyDeleteThough not much use for me, but it is a nice Budweiser can.
Happy 4th!
Have a Wonderful Weekend!!
Peace :)
...me either! I thought the statue of liberty was a good one for today tho!!
DeleteThanks Chandra.
Lovely photos! Happy 4th July
ReplyDeleteThanks....
DeleteGood Morning, Anni, just stopping back to say thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy 4th of July weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting Eileen....hope your holiday weekend is a fun one and a safe one.
DeleteAgain, a wonderful series of pictures. I especially love the seagull with his brakes on (#13). You are one very busy lady! Happy 4th of July. We all should really enjoy the independence we have as you have shown by this post.
ReplyDeleteI like your reference to 'brakes' on that one image of the gull...it turned so quickly the camera caught a bit of the backward action.
DeleteHappy 4th of July to you too.
Thank you for the peaceful [virtual] stroll along the channel - it was absolutely lovely!
ReplyDeleteJen, happy to know you enjoyed the walk with us.
DeleteI can see the same scene in the second picture over here in my country.
ReplyDelete...so beaches world wide are quite similar then, correct?
DeleteGorgeous shots. We are heading to the lake tonight to throw some stones and grab some ice cream. Hopefully the environment here looks as pretty as yours does in your pictures!
ReplyDeleteIce cream....yummy on such a hot day!!! Enjoy. And, thanks for taking time to stop by Hootin' Anni's
DeleteA real good post Anni. I can almost smell the ozone from those seascapes. i hope you all have a wonderful July 4th. I know how special it is to all you special people over there in the USA.
ReplyDeleteI'm heading off to "i'd rather be" right now. See you soon.
For the two of us, we stay home on this holiday...too many 'crazies' out and about. LOL
DeleteWill do my hosting in a bit...glad to know you're heading over.
And a Happy 4th to you as well, Anni ... you certainly have some lovely places to walk and titillate your nonsensless senses. The salt air is so refreshing, I often wish I was closer to the Gulf ... but then I rethink it during hurricane season. Up here is quiet and sometimes just boring, but safe for the most part (and here's hoping I haven't jinxed myself by saying it). What you do have and what will draw me down there someday is wildlife ... so many beaitiful birds and then even a dead fish from time to time, Ha! Love your posts and enjoy you ...
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From The Sol
That was one reason we didn't relocate down here when Bud and I retired....hurricanes. Then, the white hot heat of the desert changed our minds. It took us a decade before we said, "The heck with it"...and moved here. I couldn't be happier...until a storm heads our way...then a 'nother scenario in my way of thinking, I'm sure.
DeleteCome on down, we'll go birdin' together.
Love those Willets Anni, and Happy 4th July to you :)
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you kindly Adam!!!
