“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

Walking....Tall

Quite an old photo from months back when Bud and I were walking one of the newer birding/biking trails in the city near Oso Bay. And it isn't a very good photo at that...from a far distance, so not much clarity. It was a chilly, wintry day and at first glance when I saw this bird soaring silently in the sky I thought it was a vulture, then through my binoculars I could see the white stripe on the underwing tip... as it landed on a fence post....
...I realized it was a Mexican Crested Caracara

...another day, recently as we walked along the seawall to watch the ships come into port, I scanned the clouds above me and began to watch a seagull flying high.  I tried to capture its distance up in the air and got a pretty good skywatch photo of the TALL palm tree. The gull is just a black speck among the clouds center/left of the photo...

Yes, Bud and I try to walk for exercise a lot! But when it's too hot and humid, we tend to head toward one of the malls in the city. This one is our favorite tho not many stores are located here anymore. I think the landlord/property owner raised the rent so high no one can afford to stay in business these days. Whatever...
Anyway, as we were walking, I caught a glimpse of myself in the window and saw a multitude of Anni figures in the glass reflection. All I had was the cellphone, so I tried to capture me in all the window panes...how many can you count?

...and another as we climbed stairs. Yep, stair climbing is another good cardiovascular exercise. Bud was happy to stop and rest his arthritic knees when I said "Oh, another good reflection"!!! That's all him too...I feed him too much me thinks. 'Cause it's not a beer belly...just too much good food I guess. Maybe it's a family trait?!! [the mirrored walls are actually the elevators behind them...the elevator shaft!!]

  1. very cool!!!! the pic you are talking about, maybe it is the JFK causeway, the one that goes by flour bluff out to padre? it was only 2 lanes back then I watched it actually being 1 lane both ways while they were widening and building the new bridge.

    1. Wow...you probably wouldn't recognize the island today. It's quite a 'suburb' of Corpus / Flour Bluff now. Everything there but a grocery store...which there should be I think!

  11. Walking's the best, my pups say so too heee heee heee, as for stairs, I don't even want to count how many times I'm up and down the stairs at home, and I'm kinda hyper, so my mind keeps jumping restlessly, which increases the need to go up and down... okay, this is all irrelevant. What is relevant is stairs are good exercise.
