Since I wasn't online or near the computer much [not even close to my smartphone much either which is a good thing!!!] over the holidays, I haven't shared my Christmas Morning with anyone yet. So, I am thrilled to show off my goodies that was under the tree. Besides my secret Santa who shipped me a carved, wooden, Santa about a week before Christmas I was gifted another Santa to add to my collection...another Jim Shore's work. It's 2013's SILENT NIGHT. I love the nativity carved into his Christmas Robe---
next, I opened this adorable Christmas Cup...it's made especially for Santa, but since I don't drink coffee, and everyone knows I'd prefer milk with my Holiday cookies...the cup has a slot under the liquid holder especially for a cookie!!
...another collection I love adding to is, everything Gone With the Wind. This time a small Scarlet figurine in her unforgettable green drapery gown!!
Now, there is a story behind this gift...I wanted to see it in the theater, but we never went. My excuse is...if I can help it now-a-days, I don't like to see movies that'll make me cry when I'm in a theater. Luckily, with technology, I can wait 'til it comes on DVD and play it in the privacy of my own living room --
...and lastly, the gift I asked for from Bud. He's such a sweetie!!! The book about Petra Kenedy, a prominent historical figure of the ranch lands of Texas history. Long ago, I read the book about Alice King [famed King Ranch and small town of Alice, Texas is named after her] by the same two authors. So well written and composed that book was, I was anxious to read this one also. I'm about half way done with reading it, and it's marvelous. A true book that will find a permanent place on my shelf....

ReplyDeleteYou asked about my cat..she was an adoption from the Humane Society many years ago...I think she is a mix of Himalayan and something else because she doesn't sound or act like a Siamese at all. When she sheds ( which is constantly ) and I brush her, her fur comes out like Angora. She's a real character..I named her Kanga, short for Kangaroo because when she was tiny she just hopped everywhere! :)
...Honestly, Kanga is one gorgeous kitty!!! We too have adopted cats, they're such treasures.

DeleteI love books about women pioneers, I wouldn't think that being a woman in this male dominated world of farming/ranching was an easy one and this will be a good read. I find any movie with animals good or bad happy or sad bring me to tears so I tend to stay away from any of them anywhere they are showing, I've grown into a big old tear drop where animals are concerned..

Wonderful story about a very interesting pioneering woman. She put herself, her five children, and their dog on a 25-foot-long boat every summer and explored the British Columbia coast! :-)

There really wasn't anything that I wanted for Christmas and I knew DH wouldn't here NOT getting me something, so I told him I would like another 3 quart stainless steel saucepan. He wound up getting me a few other things, too. What I really would like is my dream house, but that won't fit under the tree and let's face it a bit too expensive. Maybe one day, though, right?

ReplyDelete...when it comes to Santa collecting and GWTW [and Halloween witches]...I never turn 'em down. Of course, they're pack away after each season. Books on the other hand, if they're excellent, I save 'em...otherwise trade 'em in after reading them.

ReplyDeleteIt is very, very cold here. The temp says 14 degrees but the wind is howling out there. I went out to try to shovel a bit, but the snow made my gloves wet on the inside and my hands started to freeze. I gave up.
Your Christmas gifts are beautiful and all with meaning behind. Those are the presents I love. I was never into the gift card. It is so impersonal and too easy. I love presents from the heart.
I am a lover of Gone with the Wind too. It was my parents first date. My dad took my mom to see the movie.

I think it was my favorite gift. Another was a tall fleur de lis battery operated candle. For me it's the small things and people choosing gifts they KNOW I'll love. DeleteLove your Scarlett figurine. GWTW is my favorite book and movie. Every time I see the drapery dress it reminds me of a GWTW skit Carol Burnett did with the drapes. It was hysterically funny so it stuck in my mind forever.

Cute Christmas cup but I don't think the cookie would stay in it's holder long for me. We ate in Alice, Texas a few years ago coming home from south Padre Island. The book sounds interesting.
