Spring...wildflowers, butterflies, green, woodsy parks!! It's all a favorite part of the season. Today tho, the fog is thick from our home's window, looking out. I love fog too...the quietness, the stillness of the air just comforts me, I can't explain. I always think, when fog sets in, of hearing a distant ship's fog horn, unseen, but heard. Spring...there is so much to see, so much beauty in the world this time of year. Of course, y'all know we both try and get out and about as often as we can during the few months of ideal temps and weather. BEFORE summer hits our area early and the temps soar to 'unbearable' without A/C. And I drink in the colors I see in and around town. The parks, someone, unknown but very special, takes time to spread wildflower seeds here, there; over yonder! And the profusion of hot pinks, deep purples, blue hues, lavender, rose, and a whole spectrum of yellows, never ceases to take my breath away. I always have to stop and aim my camera at the rainbow of colors. I'm delighted to go to the parks, and fields and see Texas's State Flower in full bloom, they're all so pretty in their own way....

Texas State Flower: the Blue Bonnet
The dense woods of a city park trail
Mountain Laurel Trees
This time of year, the Mountain Laurel Trees are all abloom with the rich lavender clusters of flowers, surrounding them, the bees are busy collecting the nectar and cross pollinating. The fragrance surrounding the trees is a phenomenal grape juice scent, so sweet and attractive to not only bees, but me. Besides, anything purple catches my eye.
A field of wildflowers attracts my attention
Purple Delphinium and Blue Bonnets
Pretty!!! Gerbera I believe...FIREWHEEL.
...and the butterflies:
...welcome to a Coastal Bend Spring!!! And for all who observe today, Palm Sunday, I hope your day is blessed!

Lovely post.
ReplyDelete...have a blessed Palm Sunday Denise.
DeleteI have to admit to a bit of jealousy! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWell that makes two of us...I am jealous of you having a grandDAUGHTER!! ;o)
DeleteWhen it's springtime here, it's snowing ... at least it is today. Crazy weather! I just love those beautiful pictures!
ReplyDelete...at least you're GETTING moisture. Here, it may be foggy or drizzly in the morning, but by noon, everything is all dried up again because of the winds!
DeleteMy only complaint about spring here is that it's too short! I love your pictures, and they make me once again appreciate the gorgeous scenery that is all ours. I hope this dreadful wind that's blowing today goes away as fast as it came in!
ReplyDelete...that wind was nasty at times!!! Wasn't it?
DeleteI miss springtime in Texas. Houston in March was generally very nice.
ReplyDeleteHouston, in my opinion, is a very pretty city....year 'round!!
DeleteBeautiful post, Anni. Wish we had some spring like that here---but winter is still hanging on.... Gads!!!
ReplyDeleteWe used to go to Chapel Hill to see the Bluebonnets every April... Love them!
Thanks again for telling us about Blue Bell's Black Walnut Ice Cream... We LOVE it.
Happy Palm Sunday.
Hugs,
Betsy
Aha!!! Yet another Black Walnut 'lover' of Blue Bell ice cream!!!
DeleteBeautiful spring flowers, Anni!
ReplyDelete...glad you enjoyed them Eileen.
DeleteI love the bluebonnets! And the butterflies! Just beautiful, Anni. :-)
ReplyDelete...happy to know you enjoyed a bit of Spring colors today DJan. Did you go jumping?
DeleteYour Gerbera is actually called a Firewheel or Indian Blanket up here in the Dallas area. I have a whole field of them that come up during the spring right outside my door. They are awesome!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots and a nice into into spring. Today it is really windy and feels like the 40's outside. Now is the time of year we vary from the 50's to the 80's in a day or two...then back.
Thanks for the camera info I appreciate it. And you're right...it has done very well for you!!
Aha!!! Thanks....now I know the name of the flower. They usually have little signs posted here and there with what kinds of flowers we see...but not this area. I appreciate knowing what they are.
DeleteI miss seeing the bluebonnets in Texas. I will not miss their summers tho! Lovely photos of the butterflies and blooms. Enjoy your outings before the heat zaps you. :)
ReplyDelete...today is a whole 'nother scenario. The low is nearing 50 right now and the breeze is blowing making the wind chill factor in the 40s I imagine. A far cry from the high 80s this past week.
DeleteLove the Blue Bonnets! They're so pretty. My favourite of course, are the wild flowers. Isn't nature beautiful? We're heading into Autumn and I am enjoying the cooler weather. It's raining outside tonight, soft, gentle rain. Just washing things down before the new week starts. Have a good one!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy those Autumn days Janet. 'Nother favorite time of year for me too.
DeleteI LOVE spring flowers!! Thanks for posting!! Were in the midst of another blizzard!
ReplyDelete...living in Colorado for nearly 45 years, I know just what it's like to have a Springtime blizzard. That's why we moved far south. ;o)
DeleteA wonderful butterfly capture! But be still my heart I love the bluebonnets. Listen to Nanci Griffith's "Gulf Coast Highway" and you will never look at bluebonnets the same again!!!
ReplyDeleteWow....I've not heard this before. I'm sure glad you shared her name/song. It's beautiful.
DeleteThank you for sharing your spring time with us, I'm still looking at snow and I am in desperate need of some color and sunshine
ReplyDeletewell, if it's any consolation, when you finally get YOUR spring, here it'll be a virtual furnace or more likely a steam bath.
DeleteHello Anni!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the sweet comment on my blog this morning...I'm in Central Texas and dang if it's not Cold Again today! I'm SO ready for some cooler temps to stay with us for a while.
I know you're happy down on the coast...I'm SO envious!
Enjoy the day!!
hughugs
I'm glad you stopped by Donna!!! Yep, the winds are bringing in a cold front. But I'll enjoy this temperate time right now, 'cause I know the heat will be turned on full blast all too soon.
DeleteDid you say that it is SPRING!! We are getting snow showers and very cold winds, not much in the way of badly needed moisture.
ReplyDeleteI will enjoy my spring through your beauty flowers. I really do like the lavender ones also.
Enjoy your warmth it is 20* here with a high of 25 and windy of 35+. Blah
Actually, I thought of YOU with all the purples I was seeing in the fields and parks. :o)
Deletethank you for the thoughts.
DeleteGorgeous pictures Anni....
ReplyDeleteSpring sprung a leak here...it is rainy, dreary and cold. The buttercups were brave enough to pop up, the dogwoods have lots of buds as does our Red bud (the one with heart shaped leaves). Hopefully after this cold week spring will return
Hugs C
...thanks M&M
DeleteUnless of course, the part of Texas where you reside is in the Panhandle where spring means 29 degrees with wind chill of 7 and dust storms!
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to find any recent blog posts for you with your comment link Sandy?!!
DeleteThat grape juice scent sounds so lovely but really 80 degrees! YIKES I'm not ready for that yet.
ReplyDeleteYes, the 80's isn't all that normal.
DeleteGorgeous photos.
ReplyDeleteMums
...thanks Liza
DeleteGorgeous variety of flowers! Love the idea of grape juice scents on the breeze! Heavenly!
ReplyDelete...it's a very soft, not over powering scent.
DeleteLovely flowers. We only have snow.
ReplyDelete...I know what that's like, snow!!! That's why we moved south. LOL
