Leap Day

Today's post, being that today comes around only every four years [except for years that are divisible by 100] ---my post will be fun facts and all kinds of sorted stuff:

FACT: The Earth takes a complete revolution around the sun in 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 16 seconds. To compensate for the difference, an end-of-century year is not a leap year unless it is also exactly divisible by 400. This means that the years 1600 and 2000 were leap years, as will be 2400 and 2800, but the years 1700, 1800 and 1900 were not, nor will be 2100, 2200 and 2300.

FACT: The concepts of the leap year and leap day are distinct from the leap second, which results from changes in the Earth's rotational speed.

FUN: For some, today is Sadie Hawkins' Day. The celebration, in other areas, is observed on the original date that Al Capp first had it appear in his strip in November of 1937. For further reading on Li'l Abner and Dogpatch Sadie Hawkin's Day --read here

FUN FACT: People born on Leap Year Day [February 29th] are called LEAPLINGS

FACT: Google will close Friends Connect "Followers" to those who do not have a Google-based blog [BLOGGER]. It's my understanding that if you retain an account, it won't affect you...but in case you're concerned about your blog traffic ---then, there is an alternative; but it's still associated with Google members only, and that is GOOGLE + Whether Friends Connect remains on Blogger or not, I am really not sure what my reaction is...I guess in life, things go and things come to you ---what can you do? Sulking and complaining isn't something we should concern ourselves with...BLOGGER still remains free of charge.

Just answer ten questions and find out which celebrity you're like in style and grace [there is an option to skip and see results without giving out your email!!] My twin as you can see above is Kate Winslet---

FACT [OR FICTION?]: Leap Year has been the traditional time that women can propose marriage. When the rules of courtship were stricter, women were only allowed to pop the question on one day every four years. That day was February 29th. St. Bridget's Complaint - It is believed this tradition was started in 5th century Ireland when St. Bridget complained to St. Patrick about women having to wait for so long for a man to propose. According to legend, St. Patrick said the yearning females could propose on this one day in February during the leap year.
