And this is me in my Christmas garb just before we left to Cracker Barrel---Sunday morning, Bud and I got nerve to venture out. Being that we've been cooped up in the confounds of our 'four walls' since Thanksgiving. LOL I tend to go stir crazy if there is no day trips after a while. But, neither wanted to go too far as the likes of all the crazy shoppers on their last holiday break day was Sunday and more than half of the retail shops continued to have after Thanksgiving sales promoted on Sunday, in the wee hours of the morning, also. Well, we decided to go early, to Cracker Barrel. I always enjoy a meal out where I don't have to cook and clean up afterward. Tho, most times any more Bud does the cleaning up. Anyway, the first thing I notice when I walk through the door is all the Christmas goodies on display in their general store. Whoa. Some just took me aback! Cardinals. If it weren't for Santas, Cardinals would be my choice for Christmas decorations. I spied right off a coffee cup. And get this, all the merchandise on that shelf had a 25% off tag above it. To begin with, it wasn't that expensive...$3.99 and I just had to have it. When we were done dining --- Bud paid for the meal and picked up one of the cups. It's still in the package, still on the kitchen counter, I haven't opened it since we've been home. What's that, two days now? I tellya, I am not too ambitious these days. Well, anyway, before I forget this part...when the gal at the front counter grabbed the menus and escorted us to a room to sit and order our meal, there was one lonely looking guy in the corner opposite us...and out came the cellphone from my pocket...I had to have a photo of him. Does he look familiar to you? He's a long way from the North Pole, to be sure. I almost wanted to walk over to him and take a yank at the beard to see if it was real, LOL----

ReplyDeleteThe gift shop is THE reason I have to stay out of Cracker Barrel. I love cardinals also-they were my dad's mother's favorite and I think of her every time one comes into our yard thus, the bird feeder. I'm positive that WAS Santa! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI like Cracker Barrel. Especially the individual chicken pot-pie. Santa seems to think this is a fine place for food, so therefore, it is for me!

Oh! Love your Ruby Tuesday post! Your sweater is very lovely and wow! That had to be Santa!!
ReplyDeleteYou look just beautiful in your Christmas shirt~ I know what you mean about getting stir crazy if you don't get out every once in a while. I'm the same way -- we try to stay home on weekends anyway (even when it's not Black Friday) -- letting those who have to work have that day to tour or shop or whatever. But sometimes I can't even stand two days without going somewhere ;>)

I too get crazy when I have to stay more than 2 days in my 4 walls ! The picture of you is very nice ! Love the sweater. Christmas shopping fever has arrived here too, although the flemish part of Belgium celebrates more Santa Claus on Dec 6 where the kids get the big gifts. So the shopping had been done already. Living in the french speaking part, Santa Claus is less important.

ReplyDeleteTears in my eyes reading your sweet words.
The song by Kelly is one of my favorites. She was 5 years old, in front of a microphone at home noodling around and she wrote that song, which I recorded on the spot.
Seen any Motorcyle Cops lately?
Ate any bog old juicy cheesegburgers?
Hope your wedgies are staying away?? :)
